Conventionally, with electrical appliances that require this type of switching, if you make a mistake in switching the voltage when it should be used at 100V and turn on the switch to 200V, the heater will hardly heat up and the water will not boil or you will not be able to cook. It was. Conversely
For example, if you turned on the switch to 100V when it should be used at 200V, the heater would overheat and break.

As a solution to the above-mentioned drawbacks, an automatic power supply switching device disclosed in, for example, Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 135026/1980 is known. This device is one of the transformers.
The number of windings on the secondary side is automatically switched according to the power supply voltage, and a constant voltage is supplied to the load connected to the secondary side of the transformer. however,
Since this device requires a transformer, it has the disadvantage of increasing its size and weight. Therefore, if this method is applied to a small handheld device such as a hair dryer or an iron, the operability and portability of the device will be poor.

are connected. A thyristor 4 is connected to the power source 1 via an electromagnetic relay coil 5, and forms a control circuit A. Reference numeral 6 denotes a triggering element such as a Sienna diode or diac connected to the midpoint of the voltage dividing resistors 2 and 2 and the gate of the thyristor 4 via a resistor 7, and its characteristics are such that it will break over when the applied voltage is around 100V. It is set so that it is non-conductive without exceeding the voltage, and becomes conductive when the voltage exceeds the breakover voltage at around 200V. Reference numerals 8 and 9 indicate a first heater and a second heater having substantially the same resistance value. A first switching contact 10 connects the first heater 8 and second heater 9 in parallel or in series, and has an a contact (a) and a b contact (b). Reference numeral 11 designates a second switching contact piece, which includes a d contact (d) connected to the midpoint between the coil 5 and the thyristor 4, and a c contact (c) connected to the midpoint between the first heater 8 and second heater 9. ). When the coil 5 is not energized, the first switching contact 10 is switched to the a contact (a) side, and the second switching contact 11 is switched to the c contact (c) side, so that the coil 5 is energized. When the switch is switched, the first switching contact piece 10 is on the b contact (b) side, and the second switching contact piece 11 is on the d side.
Switches to contact (d) side. That is, the coil 5
When energized, the first heater 8 and second heater 9 are connected in series, and when not energized, both heaters 8 and 9 are connected in parallel. Note that the first switching contact piece 10 and the second switching contact piece 11 form a switching circuit B.

To explain the operation of such a configuration, first, when used in countries where the commercial AC power supply used in Japan etc. is around 100V, the trigger element 6
The voltage applied to the trigger element 6 is not conductive because the voltage applied to the trigger element 6 is low and does not reach the breakover voltage, so that the thyristor 4 also maintains an OFF state and the coil 5 is not energized. Therefore, the first
The switching contact piece 10 has a second switching contact piece 11 on the a contact (a) side.
is switched to the C contact (c) side, and the first heater 8 and the second heater 9 are connected in parallel, and a voltage of around 100 V is applied to each of the heaters 8 and 9 for normal heating. It heats the object to be heated without any hindrance.

On the other hand, when used in a country where the commercial AC power supply is around 200V, the voltage applied to the trigger element 6 is high and reaches the breakover voltage, so the trigger element 6 becomes conductive and the thyristor 4 is gated. A voltage is applied to turn on the thyristor 4 and energize the coil 5. As a result, the first switching contact piece 10 moves to the b contact (b) side,
The second switching contact piece 11 is switched and connected to the d contact (d) side. At this time, the first heater 8 and the second heater 9 are connected in series, and both heaters 8,
9 is applied with a voltage of about 100 V, 1/2 of the applied voltage, so that the object to be heated can be heated in the same state as described above.

Since the present invention is configured as described above,
Even if the electric appliance of the present invention is used in a country where the voltage of the commercial AC power supply differs, the voltage change is automatically detected and the voltage applied to the heater is always kept approximately constant;
It is possible to prevent disconnection of the heater due to abnormal heating and failure to heat the object due to no voltage being applied, and to perform optimal heating regardless of the applied voltage. Furthermore, since large parts such as a transformer are not required, it is possible to provide a device that is compact and lightweight, and has good operability and portability.
