Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve work efficiency by assembling a formed cutting tool and a thread cutting unit in a tool holder in performing thread forming work on an oil pipe and the like, and continuously carrying out work on an end face, inner and outer faces of a seal part, a taper outer diameter part below the thread and the thread part. CONSTITUTION:A tool holder 11 is closed to an end 1 of a steel pipe to be worked and thereafter a aide blade 12a of a formed cutting tool 12 is positioned at an end part 1a. The holder 11 or the pipe is turned, then a part of an outer face seal part 3 as well as the whole part of an inner face seal part 2 are worked on the pipe end 1 to carry out end face finishing. By using the lower blade 12b of the formed cutting tool 12 finish-working of the outer face seal part 3 and cutting of lower part tapered outer diameter part 3b are executed simultaneously. Then, after the holder 11 is slightly advanced to position a thread forming tool 13 at one end of the tapered outer diameter part 3b, the cutting work of the thread part 4 is finished.

However, as oil wells have become deeper in recent years, improvements in physical strength and airtightness are required even more than API threaded joints. To achieve this, the joints have increased the sealing area between the metal surfaces, and the thread shape has been changed to a square thread. Joints have been developed in which a Teflon ring or the like is inserted between the screws.

<Invention tries to solve! 1! Problem > However, in the conventional thread cutting process as described above, only one cutting tool is required for each process.
Since each piece has to be selected one by one, simultaneous cutting or heavy cutting cannot be performed, and the processing time is considerably longer than that for ordinary threads that do not have seals, reducing the operating efficiency of the equipment. There is a problem with doing so.
