Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the transfer of the precipitate in a used developing soln. to a plate surface by supplying the unused developing soln. to a PS plate and pressing a development accelerating means to the plate in a reused developing soln. tank, then passing the plate between squeezing rollers. CONSTITUTION:The unused developing soln. is supplied by a developing soln. supplying member 3 to the photosensitive planographic printing plate (PS plate) transported by transporting rollers 2. The PS plate is then immersed into the developing tank 10 holding the reused developing soln. and the plate surface is rubbed by the development accelerating means 12 consisting of a brush roller. The plate is thereafter passed between a pair of the squeezing rollers 14a and 14b, the lower squeezing roller 14b of which is immersed into an immersing tank 15, by which the development processing is ended. The transfer of the used precipitate in the developing soln. to the surface of the PS plate is, there fore, prevented and the laboriousness of cleaning of pipings, etc., in the case of a replenishing system is eliminated. The workability is thus improved.

Conventionally, automatic developing machines have generally been used for developing PS plates. When processing an exposed PS plate with an automatic developing machine, there are two methods: spraying developer onto the plate surface in the form of a shower or spray while transporting the PS plate horizontally, or placing the PS plate in a processing tank containing a large amount of developer. A method has been used in which the material is immersed while being transported in a curved manner. Furthermore, since a large amount of developer is required, the developer has been recycled and reused in consideration of economical efficiency.

In this processing device, in order to prevent the development accelerator and the squeeze roller from getting dirty, used developer is supplied to the development accelerator and the squeeze roller through a shower nozzle to clean them. . However, in this method, the precipitates formed in the used developer adhere to the development accelerator and the squeezing roller through the shower nozzle, and are transferred to the surface of the PS plate being transported. There is a problem that stains occur. Furthermore, since the used developer is circulated using a pump, the pump, piping, shower nozzle, etc. are likely to become clogged, and there is a problem in that these must be cleaned frequently.

In the developing device described in Japanese Patent Publication No. 71855, which supplies a relatively small amount of developer to the PS plate for development, stains on the printing plate due to drying of the development promotion means such as brush rollers and sponge rollers can be avoided by installing a structure below the development promotion means. discloses a means for preventing the development accelerating means from drying and staining the printing plate by immersing a roller that rotates in contact with the development accelerating means in a developer. It cannot be said that the drying prevention effect is sufficient.

First, when the PS plate is inserted from the left end of the device with the side to be processed facing up, the PS plate detection switch (not shown) is activated.
This causes the conveyance roller 2 and the like to rotate, conveying the 28th plate to the right in the figure. Further, the operation of the pump 18a is controlled by a control mechanism (not shown) so that a predetermined amount of substantially unused developer is supplied from the developer supply member 3 onto the plate surface of the PS plate for a predetermined period of time.

The PS plate coated with the developer is then guided into the developer tank 10 by guide rollers 11 and immersed in the developer in the developer tank 10 . This immersion is to prevent insufficient development from occurring at the peripheral edge of the 28th plate. The surface of the PS plate is then rubbed in the developing tank 10 by a development accelerator 12 consisting of a brush roller, and then by a squeezing roller 14.
In steps a and 14b, the mixture of developer and eluted components adhering to the surface of the PS plate is removed.

The developer in the developer tank IO is replenished by the flow of the developer applied by the developer supply member 3 and held on the PS plate. The overflow of the developing tank IO enters the immersion tank 15 through the liquid guide plate 16. The developer tank 10 is replenished not only with the developer supplied onto the PS plate, but also separately by sending the developer in the receiver 6 with the pump 18b.

The PS plate is then passed between squeezing rollers 14a and 14b to remove the mixture of PS plate eluate and developer adhering to the surface. Here, since the lower squeezing roller 14b is immersed in the developer in the immersion tank 15, it is always kept wet with the developer while the processing apparatus is in operation. The developer in the immersion tank 15 is renewed by the overflow from the developer ITO, and the overflow of the developer in the immersion tank 15 enters a waste solution tank (not shown) via a pipe 17.

In the present invention, the development accelerator is provided in a developer tank that performs immersion development, and contains at least PS in the developer solution in the developer tank.
Since the part of the plate that comes into contact with the plate surface is wetted with the developer, it is possible to keep the development accelerator always sufficiently wet with the processing solution while the processing device is in operation. Since the lower roller of the squeezing roller is immersed in the developer, it does not dry out during the operation of the processing device, and as a result, the processing liquid adheres to the development accelerator and the surface of the squeezing roller and dries, resulting in solid matter. This prevents it from being transferred to the PS plate and causing printing stains.

According to the present invention, in a processing method in which a substantially unused developer is supplied to a PS plate and then immersion development is performed, the used developer is ejected from a shower nozzle by a pump and is circulated for development without being used. Since the accelerator and squeezing roller can always be kept wet with the developer,
Without clogging pumps, piping, shower nozzles, etc., components eluted from the developer and PS plate adhere to these, dry and solidify, and are transferred to the surface of the PS plate, causing printing stains. This will be prevented. In addition, compared to the known means of immersing the lower pair of rollers of the development accelerator in the developer, the development accelerator is directly immersed in the developer, which prevents the development accelerator from drying out, and the printing problems caused by this. Highly effective in preventing stains on the plate.

Example 1 In the automatic developing machine shown in FIG.
Using D-32 (manufactured by Konica Corporation, common developer for negative and positive), it is diluted six times with water in the developer mixing tank 8 and supplied to the 23rd plate surface to be processed via the developer supply member 3. I made it so that it would be done.

-32 diluted 6 times with water was prepared. The temperature of the developer was set at 27% inside the developer supply member 3 and in the developer tank IO.
The transportation speed of the PS plate was adjusted so that the time from when the developer was supplied to the plate surface by the developer supply member 3 until it reached the squeezing rollers 14a% and 14b was 20 seconds. Further, the brush roller 12 and the squeezing rollers 14a and 14b were designed to keep rotating even while transport of the PS plate was interrupted.

According to the present invention, using an automatic developing machine, after supplying a substantially unused developer to the surface of each PS plate, the plate surface is immersed in a repeatedly used developer, and then a development accelerator is applied. In the processing method in which the image is allowed to pass through and further passes through a squeeze roller, the development accelerator and the squeeze roller are smudged, and the effect of preventing background smearing during printing is thereby improved.
