Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 〔産業上の利用分野〕 本発明は、熱可塑性のプラスチックシートの積層体を連
続的に線状ないし帯状に溶着するとともに、その溶着部
と平行して切断を行うプラスチックシートの連続溶着・
切断の方法に関するものである。
〔発明の概要〕
本発明は、回転軸を有する円柱状の受治具と、該受治具
外周面に対向して近接して設けた超音波ホーンにより、
プラスチックシートの積層体を、前記超音波ホーンの超
音波振動により連続的に、線状ないし帯状に溶着すると
ともに、その溶着部と平行して切断を行うプラスチック
シートの連続溶着・切断の方法において、前記受治具に
は少なくとも回転軸に略垂直な受治具垂直面を受治具の
外周面に沿って設け、一方、超音波ホーンの先端部には
、受治具外周面に対向して近接する面をもつ外周面対向
部と、前記受治具垂直面に対向して接する平行面をもつ
垂直面対向部を設けて、溶着は前記受治具外周面と前記
外周面対向部の作用で行われ、切断は前記受治具垂直面
と垂直面対向部の作用で行われるようにして、超音波振
動停止時の前記受治具外周面と前記外周面対向部との間
隙を印加される超音波振動の振幅のXより大きく、また
印加される超音波周期の中で、最近接時の間隙を溶着さ
れるプラスチックシート1枚の厚さよりも小さくなるよ
うに設定することによって、超音波ホーンの先端部およ
び受治具の磨耗が少なく、かつ安定した溶着強度および
確実な切断を行うことができるプラスチックシートの連
続溶着・切断方法である。

熱可塑性のプラスチックシートの積層体を連続的に線状
ないし帯状に溶着するとともにその溶着部と平行して切
断を行うプラスチックシート(以下、単にシートを記す
)の連続溶着・切断の方法としては、超音波振動を用い
る方法、高周波の電磁波を用いる方法などがあるが、作
業性の良さなどの理由から、最近では超音波振動を用い
る方法がより多く用いられる。
次に、超音波振動を用いたシートの連続溶着・切断方法
の従来例を第7図ないし第11図を参照して説明する。
第7図は、従来例を示した全体構成図である。
2枚のシート25a、25bは第1のガイドローラ23
で積層された後に、回転軸を有する円柱状の受治具22
と該受治具外周面22aに対向して近接する面をもつ超
音波ホーン(以下、単にホーンと記す)先端部21の間
隙に導かれ、そこで溶着および切断が連続的に行われ、
切断された端切れ27は除かれて端部を溶着された積層
シート26は第2のガイドローラ24を通して回収され
る。ここで用いられるホーン先端部21と受治具外周面
22aの近傍の模式的な拡大正面図を第8図に示す。ま
た、第9図、第10図はその模式的拡大側面図であって
、第9図は、シートの溶着、切断位置を模式的に示しく
28は溶着部を示す)、第10図では超音波振動停止時
の位置におけるホーン先端部21を実線で、また超音波
振動(振幅P)印加時の振動周期の中で最近接時および
最遠離時におけるホーン先端部21の位置をいずれも破
線で示している。第7図ないし第9図で示すように、ホ
ーン先端部21は先端が丸みをもっており、第9図で示
すようにその最先端部で切断が生じ、その周辺部で溶着
が生じるのである。第10図に示すように超音波振動停
止時のホーン先端部21と受治具外周面22aとの間隙
をSとすると、切断が生じるためにはS≦P/2でなけ
ればならない。つまり切断のためにはボーン先端部2工
を受治具外周面22aに押し当てて接触させなければな
らない。
第11図は、別の従来例として示したもので、受治具3
2の外周面32aに垂直面32bをもつ溝部32cを円
周方向に設け、溝部の角に丸みをもつホーンの先端部3
1を押し当てて切断を行うとともに、溶着をその周辺で
行う(例えば、特開昭63−145013を参照)。
〔発明が解決しようとする課題〕
しかしながら、いずれの場合においても、ホーンの先端
部を受治具外周面に押し当てて接触させる必要があり、
必然的にホーン先端部を受治具の一方ないし両方が磨耗
し易い、そのためにホーン先端部と受治具外周面の間隙
の調整やホーン先端部や受治具の交換の頻度が高くなり
、生産性の低下、コストアップを招き、また溶着強度が
安定しなかったり、切断の確実性に欠けるなどの問題が
あった。
〔課題を解決するための手段〕
本発明は、回転軸を有する円柱状の受治具と、該受治具
外周面に対向して近接して設けたホーンによりシート積
層体を前記ホーンの超音波振動により、連続的に線状な
いし帯状に溶着するとともに、その溶着部と平行して切
断を行うシートの連続溶着・切断の方法において、前述
した問題を解決するために、前記受治具には受治具の回
転軸に垂直な受治具垂直面を受治具の端面に設け、一方
、ホーン先端部には受治具外周面に対向して近接する面
をもつ外周面対向部と、前記受治具垂直面に接する平行
面をもつ垂直面対向部を設け、超音波振動停止時の外周
面対向部と受治具外周面との間隙は印加される超音波振
動の振幅のAより大きく(従って、外周面対向部は受治
具外周面に接触しない)また、超音波振動の周期の中で
、前記受治具外周面と前記外周面対向部の最近接時の間
隙は、溶着されるシート1枚の厚さよりも小さくなるよ
うに設定して行うシートの連続溶着・切断の方法である
〔作用〕
前述した方法では、超音波振動によるシートの溶着はホ
ーン先端部の中の外周面対向部と受治具外周面からシー
トに加えられる振動による発熱作用で生じ、一方、シー
トの切断はホーン先端部の中の垂直面対向部と受治具垂
直面からシートに加えられる振動による発熱作用で溶融
することによって生ずる(溶断)。シートの溶着におい
ては、外周面対向部と受治具外周面は直接接触しないの
で、直接接触する場合に比べて、それらの磨耗は著しく
少ない。また、超音波振動の周期の中で、外周面対向部
と受治具外周面の最近接間隙は、溶着されるシート1枚
の厚さより小さいので、積層された2枚のシートのいず
れもが必ず溶融する。
シートの切断においては、垂直面対向部と受治具垂直面
は特に押圧される必要はないので、それらの磨耗は少な
い。
〔実施例〕
本発明の実施例を第1図ないし第6図を参照して説明す
る。
第1図は実施例を示した全体構成図である。2枚のシー
1−15a、15bは第1のガイドローラ13で積層さ
れた後に、回転軸を有する円柱状の受治具12とその外
周面すなわち受治具外周面12aに対向して近接して設
けたホーン先端部110間隙に導かれ、そこで溶着およ
び切断が連続的に行われ、切断された端切れ17は除か
れ、端部を溶着された積層シート16は第2のガイドロ
ーラ14を通して回収される。ここで用いられるホーン
先端部11と受治具外周面12aの近傍の模式的な拡大
正面図を第2図に示す。また、第3図、第4図はその側
面図であって、第3図はシートの溶着、切断位置を模式
的に示しく18は溶着部を示す)、第4図では、超音波
振動停止時の位置におけるホーン先端部11を実線で、
また超音波振動(振幅P)印加時の振動周期の中で最近
接時および最遠離時におけるホーン先端部11の位置を
いずれも破線で示している。
第1図ないし第3図で示されるように、受治具12は受
治具の回転軸に垂直な受治具垂直面12bを受治具の端
面に有し、一方、ホーン先端部11は、受治具外周面1
2aに対向して近接する面をもつ外周面対向部11aと
受治具垂直面12bに対向して接する平行面をもつ垂直
面対向部11bを有する。第2図には、ホーン先端部1
1と受治具22の間隙に導かれようとしている積層され
た2枚のシート、15a、15bが模式的に示されてい
る。ここでLはシート1枚の厚さを示す。
第4図で示すように、受治具外周面12aと外周面対向
部11aの間隙を、超音波振動停止時にはS、超音波振
動(振幅P)が印加されている時の最近接時にはS’ 
 (=S  %P)で表わすとすると、S>P/2およ
びs ’ =s−+Ap<t、従ってP/2<S<t+
P/2となるように設定することにより、ホーン先端部
および受治具の磨耗が著しく少なく、しかも、安定した
溶着強度と確実な切断を連続的に行うことができる。
なお、本実施例では、受治具垂直面として、円柱状受治
具の端面を用いたが、第5図および第6図に示すように
、円柱状受治具の外周面に設けた段差部あるいは溝部の
垂直面を受治具垂直面として用いてもよい。
〔発明の効果〕
以上説明したように、本発明によれば、超音波振動を用
いるシートの連続溶着、切断の加工工程において、ホー
ンおよび受治具の磨耗を少なくできるので、安定した溶
着強度および確実な切断が行えるようになる。
また、ホーンや受治具の調整や交換に要する時間を短縮
できるので、その経済的効果は大きい。

Claims (1)

  1. 【特許請求の範囲】 1、回転軸を有する円柱状の受治具と、該受治具外周面
    に対向して近接して設けた超音波ホーンにより、プラス
    チックの積層体を前記超音波ホーンの超音波振動により
    連続的に線状ないし帯状に溶着するとともに、その溶着
    部と平行して切断を行うプラスチックシートの連続溶着
    ・切断の方法において、前記受治具には少なくとも受治
    具の回転軸に略垂直な受治具垂直面を受治具の外周面に
    沿って設け、一方、超音波ホーンの先端部には、前記受
    治具外周面に対向して近接する面をもつ外周面対向部と
    前記受治具垂直面に対向して接する平行面をもつ垂直面
    対向部を設けることを特徴とするプラスチックシートの
    連続溶着・切断の方法。 2、超音波振動停止時の外周面対向部と受治具外周面と
    の間隙は印加される超音波振動の振幅の1/2よりも大
    きく、また印加される超音波振動の周期の中で、前記受
    治具外周面と前記外周面対向部の最近接時の間隙は溶着
    されるプラスチックシート1枚の厚さよりも小さくなる
    ように設定したことを特徴とする特許請求の範囲第1項
    記載のプラスチックシートの連続溶着・切断の方法。
