The two types of separating claws 51 and 54 press the front end corner of the paper by their own weight during paper feeding, thereby preventing double feeding of the paper. That is, upon receiving a paper feed start instruction, a paper feed roller (not shown) starts rotating and comes into contact with the top surface of the stack of sheets (stack) to contact and feed the topmost sheet. At this time, the stack level is lowered, but the separation claw moves to follow the stack level due to its own weight, holds the corners of the paper, suppresses feeding movement, and separates the top paper from the paper below. do. However, in order to move the separation claw stably to follow the vertical movement of the stack, the pressing force due to the separation claw's own weight is insufficient, and the following problems tend to occur.

In the former sliding separation claw 51, since the separation claw 51 itself is light in weight and also moves freely in the horizontal direction, the separation claw 51 is sandwiched between the cassette front wall 52b and the front edge of the paper, allowing smooth follow-up movement. becomes difficult.
In addition, in the latter rotary separating claw 54, paper powder, dust, etc. accumulate in the bearing part 56 during long-term use.
After all, it becomes a hindrance to smooth following movement.

In FIG. 1, a bottom plate 2 is rotatably attached to a bottom portion 1a of a cassette body 1. As shown in FIG. In this example,
As shown in FIG. 2, a step G is formed approximately at the center of the cassette bottom 1a, and slits 1b are formed on both sides of the lower step surface. These slits 1
Insert a pair of locking parts 2a, 2a (see FIG. 3) formed on both sides of one end of the bottom plate 2 into b, respectively.
A bottom plate 2 is rotatably mounted. The front end of the bottom plate 2 with respect to the paper feeding direction A is bent downward by a slight angle to form a holding part 2b. Friction plates 3, 3 are provided on both sides of the holding portion 2b, thereby preventing double feeding of the lowest sheet of the stacked sheets. A pair of support plates 2c and 2 are provided on both sides of the substantially central portion of the back surface of the bottom plate 2.
c, 2d, and 2d are standing upright. Each of these support plates 2c to 2d is provided with a holding hole 4, respectively. The bottom plate 2 having the above shape can be integrally formed by cutting and raising the two inner support plates 2c and 2d using a sheet metal processing method, which contributes to cost reduction.

A pair of separation claws 5, 5 are rotatably mounted along both sides of the back surface of the bottom plate 2. The separation claw 5 of this example includes a shaft support 5a formed in a T-shape at one end, a paper gripping part 5b bent in a substantially U-shape at the other end, and an arm part integrally connecting these two. 5c. The gripping portion 5b has a claw-shaped gripping portion 5d that grips the paper with the bottom plate 2, and a braking protrusion 5e is formed to protrude from the side of the back plate 5f. Each separation claw 5 configured as described above connects each shaft support 5a to the support plate 2 of the bottom plate 2.
c, 2c and 2d, 2d are respectively rotatably inserted to form a bottom plate unit U. When the above-mentioned bottom plate unit U is rotatably attached to the bottom 1a of the cassette main body 1, as shown in FIG. It is loosely fitted into the square hole 6. In addition, relief holes 7 are provided in the cassette bottom 1a at positions corresponding to the four support plate portions 2c to 2d.
are bored in each case, thereby avoiding the inconvenience of interfering with the rotational movement of the bottom plate 2. Furthermore, in this example, a notch 8 is formed extending from the center of the front wall 1c of the cassette body to the front end side of the bottom 1a for an appropriate length.
The structure is such that a bottom plate push-up member 9, which will be described next, can smoothly enter into the cassette main body 1.

As shown in FIG. 2, in the paper feed section F of the image forming apparatus into which the above-mentioned paper feed cassette C is inserted, the bottom plate push-up member 9 is rotated on the lower surface 10a of the substrate 10 having a step. It is freely arranged. The bottom plate push-up member 9 of this example has one end connected to a pair of blocks 11.
A push-up plate 14 (only one of which is shown) is rotatably supported via a shaft 12 installed therebetween, and has a roller 13 rotatably supported at the other end; Raised plate 14 and lower board surface 1
0a, and a coil spring 15 that biases the push-up plate 14 upward (clockwise). When the paper feed cassette C described above is inserted in the direction of the outlined arrow a into the paper feed section F configured as described above, the tip of the push-up plate 14 supported diagonally upward will come into contact with the notch. 8 into the cassette C, and eventually the rollers 13 come into contact with the back surface of the bottom plate 2 and push the bottom plate 2 upward while rotating. As a result, both corners of the leading edge of the stacked paper are held between the bottom plate 2 and the holding parts 2b and 5d of the separation claw 5, and preparation for paper feeding is completed.

FIG. 4a is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the state of the paper feed section F before the start of paper feeding operation, in which the front end of the paper stack S is held between the separating claw 5 and the holding parts 5b and 2d of the bottom plate 2. There is. In this case, the brake protrusion 5e comes into contact with the upper end surface of the square hole 6, and the separating claw 5 and the uppermost sheet P1 of the stack S are held at the appropriate upper limit level. In response to the instruction to start paper feeding, the paper feeding roller 16 rotates in the direction of arrow B, and as shown in FIG. Push S down. Following this downward movement of the stack S, the separating claws 5 also rotate downward (counterclockwise) and clamp both corners of the paper with appropriate pressure due to its own weight. In this case, the bottom plate 2
Since the shaft support 5a of the separation claw 5 descends together with the downward rotation of the separation claw 5, a certain amount of forcing force other than its own weight acts on the downward movement of the holding portion 5d of the separation claw 5.
The follow-up lowering operation is smoother than the conventional separation claw attached to the cassette body. Therefore, a conveying force along the paper feeding direction A is applied to the topmost paper P 1 of the stack S by engaging and contacting the paper feeding roller 16, but both corners are applied with moderate pressure by the separating claws 5. Since the uppermost paper P1 is pressed and its feeding is suppressed, it bends upward, thereby ensuring that it is separated from the stack S and sent out in the paper feeding direction A. In this manner, the front end of the stack S reciprocates up and down with each rotation of the paper feed roller 16, and the separation claw 5 also smoothly reciprocates up and down following this, and the sheets are separated one by one. will be delivered reliably. Furthermore, in the case of the separating claw 5 of the present invention, the disadvantage that the leading edge of the paper enters below the separating claw shown in FIG. 6 does not occur, so double feeding of paper can be more reliably and stably prevented.

It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the preferred embodiments described above, and it goes without saying that various modifications can be made within the technical scope of the present invention. For example, the bottom plate push-up member may be disposed within the cassette body.
