Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a base material having proper moisture permeability and having flexibility and excellent stretchability by applying a polyurethane emulsion to a fiber base material and drying the same to provide a porous polyurethane layer on the surface of the fiber base material. CONSTITUTION:A porous polyurethane layer 1 is formed by applying a water in oil type polyurethane emulsion consisting of hydrophobic polyurethane, hydrophilic polyurethane, water and an org. solvent to a fiber base material 2 and drying the same. The hydrophobic polyurethane is obtained by reacting hydrophobic polyol, org. diisocyanate and a chain extender and the hydrophilic polyurethane is obtained by using polyethylene glycol at the time of reaction and containing a polyoxyethylene group in polyurethane in an amount of about 20-40% by wt. of the total amount of a polymer. The moisture permeability of the base material for the coating with a poultice agent can be variously changed by charging the composition or coating amount of the polyurethane emulsion. Therefore, by regulating this moisture permeability, a material having proper moisture permeability is obtained and, further, one having flexibility and excellent stretchability is obtained.

In order to solve these drawbacks, a hydrophilic base of the type that absorbs perspiration from the application area is applied as a poultice agent to a conventional fiber base material such as woven or non-woven fabric. When used, a problem arises in that the base itself dries out due to the high moisture permeability of the fiber base material, making it impossible to obtain a sufficient therapeutic effect.

The porous polyurethane layer 1 includes hydrophobic polyurethane,
It is preferable to form the emulsion by applying a water-in-oil type polyurethane emulsion consisting of a hydrophilic polyurethane, water and an organic solvent to a fiber base material and then drying the emulsion. If the above-mentioned polyurethane emulsion penetrates into the fiber base material rapidly, the flexibility etc. of the resulting coating base material will decrease, so after applying the emulsion to another impermeable sheet, It is preferable to dry the fiber base material after adhering it, and then peel off the impermeable sheet to provide a porous polyurethane layer.
