Abstract

PURPOSE:To wash nicely in a short period of time by a method wherein a printing mask is set between a pair of pipes and high-temperature organic solvent is injected from a multitude of nozzles bored in said pipes. CONSTITUTION:A printing mask 1 is tilted to support the upper part of the same by a supporting bar 16 and retains the printing mask 1 under a condition that the same is inclined by about 80 degrees. A pair of pipes 5, on which a multitude of nozzles 6 opposed to the mask 1 are arranged horizontally in parallel, are provided at both sides of the printing mask 1. One ends of respective pipes 5 are connected to a main pipe 10 while the main pipe 10 is communicated with the delivery port of a pump through a flexible pipe 11 and the pump is provided in a vessel 12. Accordingly, organic solvent 7 is injected from respective nozzles 6 with a high speed to inject it against the stainless steel screen 4 of the printing mask 1 whereby good washing can be effected.

[Detailed Description of the Invention] Required cJI1] Regarding the improvement of the cleaning method for screen printing masks, the purpose of this invention is to provide a cleaning method that requires less time and has good cleaning performance, and the purpose of this invention is to apply cream to the pads of printed wiring boards. In a printing mask used when screen printing shaped solder, a pair of pipes with many nozzles arranged horizontally are arranged in parallel in a sealed housing, and the printing mask is tilted as desired. The nozzle is set between the pair of pipes, and the desired high-temperature organic solvent is jetted from the nozzle onto both the front and back surfaces of the printing mask screen at a high flow rate. The structure is designed to give reciprocating motion.

To solder and mount surface mount components to a printed wiring board,
Creamy solder is applied to the pads arranged on the surface of the printed wiring board, and the electrodes or lead terminals of the surface mount type components are aligned and placed on top of it, then heated to reflow the solder and soldered. It is common to do so.

During the screen printing described above, a printing mask as shown in FIG. 3 is used. The printing mask l shown in Fig. 3 is attached to a mask frame 2 such as an album, a sheet 3 attached to the bottom side of the mask frame 2, and a rectangular window in the center of the sheet 3. It is protected by a stainless steel screen 4.

By the way, after finishing printing the creamy solder,
When the printing mask 1 is left undisturbed, creamy solder solidifies and adheres to the surfaces of the sheet 3 and the stainless steel screen 4. If this happens, the squeegee will not slide smoothly on the surface of the stainless steel screen 4 the next time it is used.

Further, the creamy solder solidifies and adheres to the pattern holes 4A, causing the pattern holes 4A to become partially clogged. When this happens, it becomes impossible to uniformly apply creamy solder to the entire surface of the pad.

According to the method of the present invention, since the organic solvent sprayed onto the stainless steel screen 4 is at a high temperature, not only the organic solvent itself has high cleaning properties, but also the sprayed jet stream has a considerably high speed, which makes it possible to clean the pattern holes. The creamy solder adhering to 48 etc. is mechanically removed.
