Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture various pipe coupling ranging from small diametral types to the larger ones in an easy manner by processing a plate with a shape memory characteristic through bending, welding and storage heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:A stainless steel plate (9Cr-14Mn-5Ni-6Si-Fe) 1 with a shape memory characteristic is bent into a cylindrical form, and its end is subjected to butt welding by means of tungsten inert gas welding (TIG). A blank turned to a tube is processed into shape memory treatment for one hour at a temperature of 600 deg.C, by way of example. After that, a working strain is given to this blank by means of expanding its diameter as much as, for example, 4-6%. Finally, it is finished and thus a pipe coupling is manufactured.
