[Problems to be Solved by the Invention] However, as mentioned above, optical systems using toric lenses and cylindrical lenses use rotationally asymmetric glass elements, so compared to those using ordinary spherical lenses. In addition, the optical system with an aspherical component added has a more complicated shape than a normal toric lens or cylindrical lens, so plastic materials are not suitable for cost and technical reasons. The premise is that molded products will be produced. However, compared to glass materials, this plastic material has thicker physical properties (easier to change, i.e., varies depending on the plastic material) in response to changes in the surrounding environment. For example, there are internal pressures such as the formation of a refractive index gradient inside a material due to changes in the refractive index due to temperature changes or changes in the degree of water absorption due to humidity changes, and the presence of birefringence in the material. Since changes in optical properties affect the size of the light beam formed on the photoreceptor, the quality of the output image may change due to environmental changes.

In this case, since the image is formed midway on the deflection surface, the focus movement on the scanned surface is large.

In an optical scanning device that forms and scans an image on a scanned medium such as, a plastic material is used for at least one lens constituting the imaging optical system, and the physical properties of the plastic material change due to environmental changes (temperature changes, etc.). Means is provided for mitigating or compensating for the effect that the light beam has on changes in the shape of the light beam on the scanned medium.

The light beam passes through a cylindrical lens 4 made of glass and is focused only in the sub-scanning direction (cross-sectional direction in FIG. 2), becoming a focal line and hitting the deflection surface of a rotating polygon mirror 5. incident. The rotating polygon 1115 rotates at high speed in the direction of the arrow in FIG. 1, and the incident light beam is deflected and scanned at high speed.

At this time, since the photoreceptor drum 8 is rotated by a predetermined amount in the sub-scanning direction, an image is two-dimensionally formed on the photoreceptor drum 8 by the light beam modulated by one image data.

The imaging point X and the point A on the photosensitive drum 8 are optically related to each other by the imaging lens 6.7. In this way, the deflection reflection surface of the polygon mirror 5 is tilted A.
A tilt correction optical system is constructed that does not cause fluctuations in the position of the points.

Therefore, for example, when the ambient temperature rises, the refractive index decreases, and the overall imaging power of the imaging lens 6.7 becomes weak (as shown in Figure 3, the light beam from point X An image is formed at a position of point B which is farther away from point A on the surface of the drum 8. Therefore, a phenomenon occurs in which the spot diameter of the light beam at the position A on the surface of the drum 8 becomes thick.

are placed. As a result, 1. For example, when the ambient temperature rises, the member 10 expands and the distance between the cylindrical lens 4 and the reflection point P changes from 2 to β', and the imaging point of the cylindrical lens 4 is closer to the light source than the reflection point P. Therefore, as the ambient temperature increases, the refractive index of the imaging lens 6.7 decreases as described above, and the conjugate point of the reflection point P becomes B, but the point X' The conjugate point is point A on the drum 8 surface. In this way, taking into account the expansion coefficient and shape of the member 10 (i.e., shape change due to thermal expansion) and the power fluctuation due to the temperature of the imaging lens 6.7, changes or fluctuations in both of them will cause the light beam on the drum 8 to The effects on the spots are made to cancel each other out.

。FIG. 5 shows a second embodiment. In the second embodiment, the cylindrical lens 14 is made of plastic, and the imaging lenses 16 and 17 are made of glass. As a result, if the change in the focal position of the cylindrical lens 4 due to temperature change and the amount of thermal expansion of the member 10 are combined, if the focal position X' of the cylindrical lens 14 is always set to the position P, the environmental Due to the fluctuation, the focus position X' does not change, and the focus position at point A on the drum 8 does not change.
