Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject bathing agent, capable of generating gaseous carbon dioxide by adding thereof into bath water and suppressing floating of fumaric acid without any residual bubbles by blending a specific amount of a specified water-soluble polymer compound and surfactant in a bathing agent containing the fumaric acid and a carbonate. CONSTITUTION:A bathing agent, obtained by blending one or two or more water-soluble polymer compounds selected from polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxypropyl cellulose and polyvinyl alcohol and a surfactant, such as polyoxyethylene alkyl ether or sucrose ester of a fatty acid, as a floating inhibitor for fumaric acid generated in dissolution in bath water and residual bubble preventive agent in respective amounts of 1-20wt.% and <0.1wt.% based on the fumaric acid in a bathing agent containing the fumaric acid and a carbonate, such as NaHCO3. The aforementioned agent is capable of generating gaseous carbon dioxide in adding thereof into bath water and imparting moderate stimulation to the skin, improving blood circulation, promoting recovery from fatigue and metabolism and reducing production cost using the inexpensive fumaric acid.

Citric acid, tartaric acid, and succinic acid are commonly used as organic acids to be incorporated into this type of bath additive. Incidentally, although fumaric acid is advantageous because it is cheaper than citric acid, tartaric acid, and succinic acid, it is poorly soluble in water, so there is a problem in using it as it is as an acid agent for bath additives.

Conventionally, in order to solve this problem, there has been a report that a nonionic surfactant such as sucrose fatty acid ester is added to the bath additive (see Japanese Patent Publication No. 7965/1983).

[Effects of the Invention] As described above, the bath additive of the present invention is a bath additive containing fumaric acid and a carbonate, and contains one or more than one selected from the group consisting of polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxypropylcellulose, and polyvinyl alcohol. Since the water-soluble polymer compound and the surfactant are contained in amounts of 1 to 20% by weight and less than 0.1% by weight, respectively, based on fumaric acid, floating of fumaric acid can be effectively suppressed. Moreover, air bubbles caused by the surfactant can be instantly eliminated. Therefore, according to the present invention, it is possible to use inexpensive fumaric acid in place of the expensive enoic acid, tartaric acid, and succinic acid, and it is possible to significantly reduce manufacturing costs.
