European Patent Application No. 0218874 discloses the combination of polyacrylamide and anionic silica sols as binders and retention agents. It is believed that the strongly charged colloidal particles of the sol form crosslinks of the polymer retention agent, thereby providing extremely good retention and water removal effects. British Patent No. 2015814 also describes the use of a polymeric cation retention agent in combination with a polyaluminum compound. Additionally, U.S. Patent Section 4.6
No. 43,801 describes the combined use of cationic starch, anionic silica sols and anionic high molecular weight polymers, particularly anionic polyacrylamide, as binders in the papermaking process. Further aluminum compounds such as alum, sodium aluminate or polyhydroxyaluminum chloride can be added to the ternary system according to the US patent.

It was found that the retention and water removal effects in the papermaking process were improved. The improved water removal effect makes it possible to increase the speed of the paper machine and also reduces the amount of water that has to be removed by drying in the drying section of the paper machine.

For best results, the aluminate should be added to the material first, then the cationic synthetic polymer, and finally the anionic inorganic colloid. Also, when anionic inorganic colloids are first added to the material, followed by cationic polymers and aluminates in any order, significant improvements can be obtained compared to known methods. . Although it is desirable to add these three components separately, it is also possible to premix two of these three components before addition.

Cationic organic nitrogen-containing polymers used in the paper industry as retention agents and/or wet strength agents are suitable. Particularly suitable examples include cationic polyacrylamides, polyethyleneimines, polyamine resins, polyamidoamine resins, and the like. The polyamine resin and polyamide amine resin are preferably used after being modified with shrimp chlorohydrin. Cationic melamine formaldehyde and urea formaldehyde wet strength resins can also be used as cationic synthetic polymers. The amount of cationic synthetic polymer used is between 0.01 and 3% by weight of the dry fibers and optionally used fillers.

Examples include the aluminum-containing silica sol disclosed in , which is incorporated by reference in this application. The specific surface area of colloidal silica in these sols is preferably from 50 to 1000 TIt/g, more preferably from about 100 to 1000 TIt/g,
Best results can be obtained with approximately 300-700 m/g. It has been found that the particle size of the colloidal silica particles is suitably less than 20 nm, preferably from about 10 to about inm (a colloidal silica particle with a specific surface area of 550 m/g corresponds to an average particle size of about 5 nm). ). Good results are obtained using the silica sols described above in the form of alkali stabilized sols containing about 2 to 60% by weight, preferably about 4 to 30% by weight of SIO□. Silica sol is Si 0
The molar ratio of 2:M20 (M is an ion selected from the group consisting of Na5K, Ll and NH4) is 10:l
~300:I, preferably l;t, 15:1~
Stabilization can be achieved by using alkali in a ratio of 100:1. As described above, the particle has at least one surface layer made of aluminum silicate or aluminum-modified silica sol, and the surface of the particle contains silicon atoms and aluminum atoms in a ratio of 9.5 + 0.5 to 7.5 = 2.5. Good results are obtained if colloidal particles are used, and the surface areas and particle sizes mentioned above also apply to these sols. A silica sol that satisfies these conditions is commercially available from EkaNobe 1, for example.

2 AJ 204) is preferred, but it is of course possible to use potassium aluminate, although it is disadvantageous from an economical point of view. The amount of aluminate used can vary within a wide range. When adding the aluminate to the material, the form of an aqueous solution is suitable; the concentration of the solution is not a critical factor and may be adjusted based on practical considerations. According to the present invention, it has been found that the water removal effect can be significantly improved by using a very small amount of aluminate compared to the amount of anionic inorganic colloid. Al2O.
In terms of weight ratio of aluminate and inorganic colloid, L(1
Even if the ratio is 1:1, an improvement effect can be obtained. The upper limit is not the deciding factor. However, if the ratio of aluminate to inorganic colloid exceeds 3=1, no appreciable improvement can be obtained. The above ratio is suitably within the range of 0.02:1 to 5:1, preferably 0.05:1 to 0.7:1. All ratios mentioned so far are weight ratios of aluminate and inorganic colloid, calculated as Al2O2.

The term "mineral filler" as used herein includes, in addition to the above-mentioned fillers, low-density mineral fillers such as wollastonite, glass fiber, and expanded perlite. Mineral fillers are typically added in an aqueous slurry at concentrations commonly used for such fillers. Alternatively, in some cases the filler may be treated with the components of the water removal and retention system according to the invention before being added to the material, for example the filler may be treated with a cationic synthetic polymer and an aluminate or an inorganic colloid and then The remaining ingredients can then be added to the material.

The specific surface area of the colloidal particles is 50 to 1000 m^
4. The papermaking method according to claim 1, wherein the papermaking method is within a range of 2/g. 5. The paper manufacturing method according to claim 3, wherein the colloid has a maximum particle size of 20 nm. 6. The papermaking method according to claim 1, wherein the cationic synthetic polymer is cationic polyacrylamide, polyethyleneimine, polyamine or polyamidoamine. 7. The papermaking method according to any one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the aluminate is added to the fiber suspension before adding the anionic inorganic colloid and the cationic synthetic polymer. 8. Claims 1, 2, 3, characterized in that the amount of the anionic inorganic colloid used is within the range of 0.005 to 2% by weight of the dry fibers and optionally used filler.
The paper manufacturing method according to 4 or 5. 9. The papermaking method according to claim 1 or 6, characterized in that the amount of the cationic synthetic polymer used is within the range of 0.01 to 3% by weight of the dry fibers and optionally used filler. 10. The weight ratio of aluminate to anionic inorganic colloid converted as Al_2O_3 is 0.01:1 to
The papermaking method according to claim 1, characterized in that the ratio is within the range of 3:1.
