Abstract

PURPOSE:To surely input satisfactory image information by inclining an abutting surface, onto which the belly surface of a finger abuts, in the lengthwise direction of the finger. CONSTITUTION:A prism 3 of a finger image input deice 11 is arranged so that, for an abutting surface 5 of a finger 1, the tip side of a finger 1 is lowered by an inclination at, for example, 45 deg. along a direction to ride on the finger 1, and the positions of an illuminating means 7 and a television camera 9 to the prism 3 are arranged as indicated in a drawing. By giving a force so as to draw the finger to a foreground side at the time of placing the finger 1 on to the abutting surface 5 by a user, the belly surface of the finger 1 works so as to be vertically pressed to the abutting surface 5, thereby, adherence between the finger 1 and abutting surface 5 is made high, and the satisfactory image information can be obtained.

Therefore, recently, various authentication methods using an individual's physical characteristics have been developed. One such method is authentication based on finger characteristics such as fingerprints and finger joint length. Based on this characteristic of the finger, in the <g position method, it is necessary to obtain good image information of the finger in order to perform high-precision IFiE.
For boat fishing, for example, a method as shown in FIG. 3 is used. This method utilizes the principle that when the belly surface of the finger 1 is brought into close contact with the abutting surface 5 of the prism 3, the conditions for total reflection of light change depending on the unevenness of the skin of the finger 1, and the illuminating means 7 and the blurry camera 9 are brought into contact with each other. It is arranged as shown in FIG. 3 with respect to the surface 5, and an image of the finger 1 formed by the total reflection light and diffused light from the prism 3 is captured by a television camera 9. According to this method, if the finger 1 is dry, the adhesion of the convex part of the finger 1 will be poor and the contrast of the image will be reduced. While pressing, the finger 1 becomes moderately moist due to sweating on the surface of the finger 1, improving the adhesion of the convex portion and improving the contrast of the image, resulting in good image information. .

(Problems to be Solved by the Invention) In the above-described method, it is necessary to properly bring the entire belly surface of the finger 1 into close contact with the contact surface 5 of the prism 3 in order to obtain good image information. However, when the abutment surface 5 is in a horizontal state as shown in FIG. There was a risk that the quality of the obtained image information would deteriorate.

Furthermore, the present invention provides a device for inputting image information of the pad surface of a finger that is in contact with a contact means, in which the contact surface of the pad surface of the finger in the contact means is inclined in the longitudinal direction of the finger, and has a convex curved surface. The gist is that

(Function) In the finger image input device according to the present invention, the contact surface that contacts the pad surface of the finger is inclined in the longitudinal direction of the finger and/or
Alternatively, by making it a convex curved surface, it is easier to press the finger against the contact surface.

FIG. 1 shows a finger image input device 11 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
FIG. Its feature is that the prism 3 is arranged such that the contact surface 5 of the finger 1 is inclined at, for example, 45 degrees along the direction in which the finger 1 is placed so that the tip side of the finger 1 is lowered. Note that the relative positions of the illumination means 7 and the television camera 9 with respect to the prism 3 are the same as in the prior art.

Therefore, according to this embodiment, when the user places the finger 1 on the contact surface 5, by applying force to draw the finger 1 toward the user, the pad surface of the finger 1 is perpendicular to the contact surface 5. Since the contact surface 5 acts as if pressed against the finger 1, the contact between the finger 1 and the contact surface 5 is high (good image information can be obtained).

In this embodiment, the abutment surface 5 is arranged such that the tip side of the finger 1 is lowered, but conversely, the base side of the finger 1 may be lowered. In other words, the method of tilting the contact surface 5 forward is more suitable when the position where the user places the finger 1 is lower than the user's chest level, whereas it is more suitable when the position where the finger 1 is placed is higher than the user's chest position. This is because input may be easier if the abutment surface 5 is sloped backward (with the finger attached to the root side). This is particularly the case when only a fingerprint is input.

FIG. 2 shows a finger image input device i according to another embodiment of the present invention.
It is a diagram showing ¥13. Its features include the use of a prism 17 in which the contact surface 15 of the finger 1 is formed into a convex curved surface;
This prism 17 is arranged such that the abutting surface 15 is placed so that the tip of the finger 1 is lowered along the direction in which the finger 1 is placed.

Therefore, according to this embodiment, when the user places the finger 1 on the contact surface 15, by applying force to draw the finger 1 toward the user, the pad surface of the finger 1 is perpendicular to the contact surface 5. In addition, since the contact surface 15 is a convex curved surface, the contact between the finger 1 and the contact surface 15 is high, and good image information can be obtained.

In this embodiment, the abutting surface 15 is arranged such that the tip side of the finger 1 is lowered, but the base side of the finger 1 may be lowered conversely for the same reason as described above.

In addition, since the contact surface 15 is formed into a convex curved surface,

Further, in the two embodiments described above, a case was explained in which a prism is used as a means for abutting the finger, but the abutting means is not particularly limited to a prism, and the conditions are such that the state of the unevenness of the pad surface of the finger can be input. It is also possible to use contact means other than prisms as long as the following conditions are satisfied.
