Abstract

PURPOSE:To make a data backup operation by a user unnecessary and to heighten the reliability of a system by providing a minimum voltage detecting means and transferring information stored in a memory with a battery as its power source to another memory by a detected signal. CONSTITUTION:A voltage detecting circuit 3 detects the voltage of a battery 1 as a main power source and compares the detected voltage with set voltage, and when the voltage of the battery 1 becomes lower than the set value, the circuit 3 informs a CPU 12 of the information to indicate this phenomenon. The CPU 12 rejects an input from the user with a key 4 by the voltage information according to the program of a ROM 10 and transfers text data and status information stored in a memory 11 to an external memory 8. Further, the CPU 12 instructs an indicator controller 6 to display character information in order to inform the user that the CPU 12 ends a memory backup operation, requests the updating of the battery, and rejects a key input after this through an indicator 7. Thus, internal data can be easily protected.

The lowest voltage at which the battery 1 can operate is preset in the voltage detection circuit 3. Voltage detection circuit 3 detects the voltage of battery 1, which is the main power source, and compares it with a set voltage, and transmits this information to CPU 12 when the voltage of battery 1 becomes lower than the set value. Based on this voltage information, the CPU 12

Then, in order to notify the user through the display 7 that the memory backup operation has ended, a request for battery update is required, and further key input is to be rejected.
The CPU 12 instructs the display controller 6 to display character information.
