The present invention relates to coating compositions for polyolefin-based plastics, and more particularly to coating compositions useful as adhesives, printing inks, or coatings for polyolefin-based plastics that are cured by active energy radiation. Polyolefin plastics such as polyethylene and polypropylene are widely used in films and molded products. However, since these do not have polar groups or functional groups in their molecules, there are problems with printing, adhesion, laminating, heat sealing, etc. of the film, and it is also difficult to adhere, paint, and print the molded products. It was hot. Conventionally, when applying adhesives, printing inks, paints, etc. to polyolefin plastics, the surface of the plastics was previously treated with gas flame, acid treatment, corona discharge, etc. in order to impart adhesive strength. The operation was complicated, and the adhesion strength was not sufficiently improved. In addition, isocyanate-cured epoxy resin paints and chlorinated polypropylene paints are also known as paints for polyolefin plastics, and these are all organic solution types that form a film at room temperature or by heating. However, none of them had sufficient adhesion to the plastic, and their solvent resistance and curing properties were also unsatisfactory. Furthermore, as a coating method for polyolefin plastic materials, Japanese Patent Publications No. 53-8743 and No. 56-5777 disclose methods for coating polyolefin plastic materials using organic resins containing unsaturated bonds, compounds having two or more vinyl groups in one molecule, and A paint containing a compound having one vinyl group as a main component, and a paint containing a polymerizable unsaturated compound having a hydroxyl group and chlorine in each molecule, are applied to the plastic and exposed to electron beams. It is also known to cure by irradiation, but in both cases,
The adhesion with the plastic is not satisfactory from a practical point of view, the flexibility of the coating film is insufficient, and the electricity consumption is low because an electron beam irradiation dose of at least 10 Mrad is required to cure the coating film. The problem is that the amount is large and it is difficult to increase the line speed of the coating process. Therefore, in view of the above-mentioned situation, the present inventor conducted intensive research to eliminate these defects, and as a result, a composition containing a chlorinated polyolefin resin blended with a monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group was found to be resistant to active energy rays. Cures extremely quickly by irradiation with
Moreover, they discovered that it forms a film that has significantly superior adhesion to polyolefin plastics, solvent resistance, flexibility, and hardening properties compared to conventional ones, and based on this new fact, they have completed the present invention. That is, the present invention includes (a) 10 to 95% by weight of monomers having two or more polymerizable unsaturated groups in one molecule, and (b) 3 to 95% by weight of monomers having one polymerizable unsaturated group in one molecule. and (c) 2 to 50% by weight of a chlorinated polyolefin resin, further comprising (d) a photopolymerization initiator if necessary. be. The present invention is a coating composition that is applied to the surface of a polyolefin plastic and cured under irradiation with active energy, and its feature is that a chlorinated polyolefin resin is used in combination with a monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group. . As a result, the composition is cured very quickly by irradiation with active energy, and the cured film formed has excellent adhesion to the plastic, solvent resistance, flexibility, curability, etc. The reason for this is not yet clear, but chlorinated polyolefin resins have excellent affinity with plastics, and when irradiated with active energy, hydrogen and chlorine abstraction reactions occur, forming monomers with polymerizable unsaturated groups. It is presumed that the cross-linking reaction also reacts with the plastic on the coated surface at the same time, and the chemical bonding between the coating and the plastic has a large effect. In the present invention, the term "coating composition" refers to adhesives applied to polyolefin plastics,
It refers to compositions, such as paints and printing inks, which may substantially coat at least one surface of the plastic. Each component constituting the coating composition of the present invention will be explained below. (a) A monomer having two or more polymerizable unsaturated groups in one molecule. The monomer is a di-, tri-, or tetravinyl compound, such as ethylene glycol diacrylate, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, diethylene glycol diacrylate, diethylene glycol dimethacrylate, triethylene glycol diacrylate, triethylene glycol dimethacrylate, tetraethylene glycol. diacrylate, tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate, polyethylene glycol diacrylate, polyethylene glycol dimethacrylate, propylene glycol diacrylate,

Particularly preferred are pentaerythritol triacrylate and the like. These monomers may be used alone or in combination of two or more. (b) A monomer having one polymerizable unsaturated group in one molecule. Examples of the monomer include carboxyl group-containing unsaturated monomers such as acrylic acid and methacrylic acid; glycidyl group-containing unsaturated monomers such as glycidyl acrylate and glycidyl methacrylate; hydroxyethyl acrylate, hydroxyethyl methacrylate, hydroxypropyl acrylate, hydroxypropyl methacrylate, etc. Hydroxyalkyl (C 2 - C 8 ) esters of acrylic or methacrylic acid; acrylic or methacrylic acid and polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol, such as polyethylene glycol monoacrylate, polyethylene glycol monomethacrylate, polypropylene glycol monoacrylate, polypropylene glycol monomethacrylate Monoesters with; methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, propyl acrylate, isopropyl acrylate, butyl acrylate, hexyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, octyl acrylate, lauryl acrylate, cyclohexyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, Alkyl acrylic acid or methacrylic acid (C 1 - C 18 ) or cycloalkyl ester; other monomers such as styrene, vinyltoluene, methylstyrene, vinyl acetate, vinyl chloride, vinyl isobutyl ether, acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile, acrylamide, methacrylamide, acrylic acid or methacrylic acid of alkyl glycidyl ether Acid adducts, vinylpyrrolidone, dicyclopentenyloxyethyl (meth)acrylate, ε-caprolactone-modified hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate, phenoxyethyl acrylate, hydroxyalkyl ester of the above acrylic acid or methacrylic acid and Examples include equimolar adducts with aliphatic dibasic acids (eg, succinic acid, adipic acid, pimelic acid, sebacic acid, azelaic acid, etc.). In the present invention, among these, hydroxyethyl acrylate, glycidyl acrylate, tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate, vinylpyrrolidone, and equimolar adducts of hydroxyethyl acrylate and adipic acid are particularly preferred. These monomers are appropriately selected depending on the desired physical properties, and may be used alone or in combination of two or more. (c) Chlorinated polyolefin resin Examples of the chlorinated polyolefin resin used in the composition of the present invention include chlorinated polyethylene resin, chlorinated polypropylene resin, and copolymers of chlorinated ethylene and chlorinated propylene. In other words, as a chlorinated polyethylene resin,
It is suitable that the chlorine content is 10 to 80% by weight, preferably 50 to 80% by weight, and the number average molecular weight is in the range of 5,000 to 200,000, preferably 10,000 to 100,000.
In addition, as a chlorinated polypropylene resin, the chlorine content is 10 to 80% by weight, preferably 50 to 80% by weight.
and the number average molecular weight is 5000-100000, preferably
A range of 10,000 to 80,000 is suitable, and the stereoregularity may be either isotactic or atactic. If the chlorine content is less than 10% by weight, the above (a)
The compatibility with component (b) may decrease, and if the amount exceeds 80% by weight, the adhesion to olefin plastics may decrease. Additionally, if the number average molecular weight is less than 5000, the physical strength of the formed cured film may decrease.
If it exceeds the above range, the viscosity of the composition may increase, making it difficult to handle. In the present invention, these chlorinated polyolefin resins can be used alone or in combination of two or more, and have excellent compatibility with the components (a) and (b). The composition of the present invention has the above-mentioned components (a), (b), and (c) as essential components, and the composition ratio of each component is as follows:
The total of components (a), (b) and (c) is 100% by weight,
Component (a) is 10 to 95% by weight, preferably 50 to 85% by weight, component (b) is 3 to 50% by weight, preferably 5 to 20% by weight, and component (c) is 2 to 50% by weight, preferably is 10
~30% by weight. If component (a) is less than 10% by weight, the curability of the coating will be reduced, while if it is more than 95% by weight, the flexibility and adhesion of the coating will be reduced. Furthermore, if component (b) is less than 3% by weight, the flexibility of the coating will decrease, while if it is more than 50% by weight, curability and adhesion will decrease. Furthermore (c)
If the amount of the component is less than 2% by weight, the adhesion will be reduced, while if it is more than 50% by weight, the curability, solvent resistance, etc. will be deteriorated, which is not preferable. Therefore, in order to achieve the purpose of the present invention, (a) and (b)
It is necessary to mix component (c) within the above-mentioned range, and the object of the present invention cannot be achieved outside the above-mentioned range. (d) Photopolymerization initiator The coating formed from the composition of the present invention is cured by irradiation with active energy such as electron beams and ultraviolet rays. It is necessary to add a photopolymerization initiator to the composition consisting of components b) and (c) in advance. As the photopolymerization initiator, a usual photopolymerization initiator that generates radicals when excited by ultraviolet irradiation is used, such as benzoin, benzoin methyl ether, benzoin ethyl ether, benzoin n-propyl ether, benzoin isopropyl ether, and benzoin n. -butyl ether,
Examples include benzophenone, p-methylbenzophenone, Michler's ketone, acetophenone, 2-chlorothioxanthone, anthraquinone, 2-methylanthraquinone, phenyl disulfide, and 2-nitrofluorene. These photopolymerization initiators can be used alone or in combination of two or more.
Its blending amount is the total amount of ingredients (a), (b) and (c) above.
A proportion of 0.1 to 10% by weight is preferred. Furthermore, in the composition of the present invention, a photosensitization accelerator may be used in combination with the photopolymerization initiator in order to promote the photopolymerization reaction by the photopolymerization initiator. Examples of photosensitization promoters include tertiary amines such as triethylamine, triethanolamine, and 2-dimethylaminoethanol, alkylphosphines such as triphenylphosphine, and thioethers such as β-thiodiglycol. . These photosensitizers can be used alone or in combination of two or more. The blending amount thereof is preferably 0.1 to 10% by weight of the total amount of components (a), (b) and (c). As described above, the composition of the present invention essentially contains components (a), (b), and (c), and optionally contains component (d) in combination. Further, pigments (extender pigments, coloring pigments, metallic pigments, magnetic metal powders, etc.) and dyes commonly used in the composition can be used in combination, and a small amount of an organic solvent with a low boiling point (below 150°C) may also be included. do not have. The composition of the present invention can be easily obtained by uniformly mixing the above-mentioned components using a mixing/dispersing machine used in producing paints. Furthermore, the compositions of the invention can be used as adhesives, paints and printing inks for polyolefin plastics such as polyethylene resins, polypropylene resins, etc. In other words, films, sheets, plates, and molded bodies containing the plastic as a main component can be replaced with films, sheets, plates, and molded bodies of the same or different types (for example, plastics other than polyolefin plastics, inorganic materials such as metal and glass, wood, etc.). It is useful as an adhesive for adhering to molded objects, etc. They are also useful as printing inks and coatings for printing and painting polyolefin plastics. The compositions of the present invention can be coated onto polyolefin plastics by roll coaters, curtain flow coaters, brushes, dips, electrostatic coaters, spray guns, conventional printing machines, and the like. The coating thickness is preferably 3 to 200 microns. Since the composition of the present invention has excellent adhesion to polyolefin plastics,
Although it is not necessary to pre-treat the surface of the plastic by corona discharge treatment, oxidizing agent treatment, alkali treatment, etc., it is possible to carry out these surface treatments. A coating formed from the composition of the present invention can be cured by irradiating the coating with active energy rays either directly or through an object to be coated. Examples of active energy rays include electron beams and ultraviolet rays, and any of them may be used. Examples of electron beam sources include Kotskucroft type, Kotscroft-Walton type, Van de Graaff type, resonant transformer type, transformer type, insulated core transformer type, dynamitron type, linear filament type, and high frequency type. . The electron beam irradiation conditions are not particularly limited and can be arbitrarily selected depending on the shape of the object to be coated, but a dose of 0.5 to 20 megarads is suitable, and a dose of 5 megarads or less is also sufficient. Examples of sources of ultraviolet irradiation include mercury lamps, xenon lamps, carbon arcs, metal halide lamps, and sunlight. The conditions for irradiating ultraviolet rays are not particularly limited, but it is desirable to irradiate for several seconds or more in air or in an inert gas atmosphere.
In particular, when irradiating in air, it is preferable to use a high-pressure mercury lamp. Next, the content of the present invention will be explained in more detail with reference to Examples and Comparative Examples. Parts and percentages in the examples are by weight unless otherwise specified. Examples and Comparative Examples Compositions (Examples 1 to 10) and comparative compositions (Comparative Examples 1 to 9) that can be applied in the present invention by uniformly mixing and dispersing components having the amounts listed in Table 1 was manufactured.
