Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a defectless deposited metal by holding and sticking a specified amt. of an oily lubricating oil contg. potash soap or soda soap on a wire surface, thereby preventing the adhesion of the deposits of an antifriction compsn. or the like which exert adverse influence on the deposited metal. CONSTITUTION:The oily lubricating oil contg. the potash soap or soda soap is held and stuck at 0.2 to 10g per 10kg wire on the surface of the wire for a gas shielded arc welding to be used at the time of executing the arc welding while automatically supplying the wire in a shielding gas atmosphere. As a result, the deposits of the antifriction compsn. or the like which exert adverse influence on the deposited metal are not stuck to the wire surface and, therefore, the deflectless deposited metal is obtd. Since the metal having a low potential gradient can be uniformly stuck to the wire surface, good wire stability is obtd. Further, the oily lubricating oil can be uniformly stuck to the wire surface and, therefore, the good wire feedability and wire rust preventiveness are obtd.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION It has been reported that if a small amount of a metal with a low potential gradient, such as cesium, sodium, or potassium, is attached to the wire surface, the arc discharge phenomenon will be stabilized and welding performance will be improved. However, as for the method of attaching the above-mentioned metal to the wire surface, as shown in JP-A-60-231-699, powdered or solid carboxylic acid potassium salt is mixed with a dry lubricant and used on the wire surface. , mechanical fixation by finishing wire drawing as a finishing process after copper plating, or finishing drawing as a finishing process after copper plating using a wet lubricant containing carboxylic acid potassium salt, etc. There is a method of mechanically fixing it using wires.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention In the former method using a dry lubricant,
As described in Japanese Patent No. 231599, "potassium salts such as potassium oleate and potassium palmitate" are used as components of dry lubricants.

However, since the extreme pressure additives and anti-friction agents mentioned above are mixed, the surface of the wire after dry finishing wire drawing contains the extreme pressure additives and anti-friction agents in addition to the necessary carboxylic acid potassium salt, etc. There was a drawback that the agent was also hardened at the same time. Naturally, the substances contained in these extreme pressure additives and anti-friction agents have an adverse effect on the deposited metal after welding. For example, sulfur, Zn, and the like generate gas during welding, remain in the weld metal as bubbles, and may cause defects such as blowholes. Further, in such conventional methods, it is extremely difficult to control the amount of extreme pressure additives and anti-friction agents to such an extent that they do not affect the welding results. The reason for this is that if the amounts of these extreme pressure additives and anti-friction agents are reduced, the wear of dies for finishing wire drawing becomes severe, resulting in a significant drop in productivity.

On the other hand, the latter method of using a wet lubricant can solve the above-mentioned problems, but when a wet lubricant is used, it has poor rust prevention properties due to its water content, and also has problems when feeding the wire. The lubricity is also insufficient.

Therefore, in order to obtain excellent wire rust prevention properties and wire feedability, it is necessary to apply an oil-based lubricant after finishing wire drawing. Since the application of the lubricant is a separate process, there is a risk of variations in the adhesion of the potassium carboxylate salt, etc., and it is not easy to completely remove the water contained in the wet lubricant.

If deemed necessary, a potash soap or soda soap, preferably an oil-based lubricant containing potassium carboxylate or sodium carboxylate, preferably an oil-based lubrication based on vegetable oil or animal lubricant. It has been found that it is effective to apply the agent at the time of finishing, elongation, or after.

In addition, carboxylic acid potassium salts and the like act as organic corrosion inhibitors, so they have a corrosion-preventing effect at high temperatures or in strongly acidic atmospheres. However, the effectiveness is lost when the lubricant is neutral to alkaline, so as a countermeasure to this, it is possible to mix an inorganic corrosion inhibitor into the oil-based lubricant, which can enhance the corrosion protection effect of the entire wire. I can do it. Nitrous acid or the like can be used as an inorganic corrosion inhibitor, but other substances can be optionally added to the oil-based lubricant as long as they do not adversely affect welding performance or welding results. It is possible to mix.
