Cables are sometimes used as strength members in various structures, and cables are also used in cable-stayed bridges, where the cables are strung diagonally from a tower on the piers to several points on the bridge girder, suspending the girder like a suspension bridge. In this way, we aim to improve the safety and economic efficiency of bridges, regardless of their size.

It is also known that the cross-sectional shape of the cable becomes a circular cross-section with rainwater added to it, which can cause self-excited vibrations in response to wind.

A spiral vibration damping fin material is attached via a fitting to the part of the cable where vibration occurs.
In addition to suppressing the occurrence of Karman vortices by changing the flow of air that hits the cable, the system also prevents the occurrence of self-excited vibrations by promoting the fall of rainwater flowing along the cable through damping fins.
