and LCDs are often used. However, CRTs require a vacuum system, are difficult to flatten and require a large depth, and have drawbacks such as difficulty in increasing the screen size and the need to use high voltage. On the other hand, liquid crystals have a slow response speed to display drive signals, are visually dependent, and
It has the disadvantage that it is difficult to enlarge the screen because it is driven by an electric field.

In the figure, a face plate 1 that emits light in response to invisible light is provided, and this face plate 1 emits red light, green light, and blue light in response to three types of invisible light having different wavelengths. It consists of an IC. These plates IA, IB, IC
For example, a fluorescent material in a powder state is formed into a plate shape using a binding material such as a resin. As a fluorescent material that emits light in response to non-visible light having different wavelengths, for example, Lumilite Color (trade name) manufactured by Shinroihi Co., Ltd. may be used. This Lumilite color is based on yttrium oxide for red emission, zinc oxide germanium dioxide for green emission, and boron calcium oxide for blue emission. The three types of invisible light include mutually different excitation wavelengths λ1. λ2 and λ3
(For example, λ+ -360 nm, λ22-330
UV rays of λ3 = 300 nm) are used.

The ultraviolet radiation source 3 has an excitation wavelength λ1. Three types of wavelength λ corresponding to λ2 and λ3
1', λ2' and λ3' ultraviolet rays are generated respectively.
In order to scan the ultraviolet light spot two-dimensionally with respect to the face plate 1, for example, two polygonal mirrors arranged perpendicularly to each other are used to detect the wavelength. The structure is such that the excitation lights of λ1', λ2', and λ3' are sequentially scanned in correspondence with the R, G, and B signals, respectively. On the other hand, in the face plate 1, each of the wavelengths λ1, λ2' and λ3' of the incident light is applied to the light receiving side of the plates IA, IB and IC at the excitation wavelength λ1. Wavelength conversion 11!14A, 4B, which converts to λ2 and λ3, respectively.
4C is provided and stacked with plates IA, IB and IC. Furthermore, an ultraviolet blocking layer 5 for blocking ultraviolet rays is provided on the display surface side of the face plate 1.

1. A wavelength conversion film 4A converts the wavelength λ1 λ2' or λ3' of the ultraviolet ray irradiated from the ultraviolet ray generation source 3 to the face plate 1 which emits light in response to ultraviolet rays having a wavelength of λ2 or λ3.
, 4B or 4C with excitation wavelength λ1. Since the light source is converted into λ2 or λ3 and guided, the wavelength of the light source can be freely selected.Furthermore, since the face plate 1 is configured to sequentially scan the excitation light spot, there is no visual dependence. , a display speed sufficient for displaying moving images can be obtained, and furthermore, since the size of the pixel is determined by the spot size of the excitation light, it is easy to achieve high definition. Furthermore, since the face plate 1 itself can be made thin and lightweight, it is easy to make the entire device flat and have a large screen. Furthermore, since the ultraviolet rays are guided to the face plate 1 by the optical fiber bundle 2, the ultraviolet ray generation source 3 does not necessarily need to be placed behind the face plate 1, so the overall thickness of the device can be reduced. It will be possible to achieve this goal.

The case where the face plate 1 is constructed by forming and laminating the plates 1A, IB, and IC, and the wavelength conversion films 4A, 4B, and 4C are arranged on the light receiving side of each plate has been described. A single face plate 1 is constructed by mixing fluorescent materials in powder form and molding the mixture into a plate shape using resin, and three wavelength conversion films 4A, 4B, and 4C are stacked and arranged on the light-receiving side of this face plate 1. It is also possible to do so.
