Abstract

PURPOSE:To form the image of good quality without any image flowing by absorbing carrier liquid by some material before or in fixation even at the time of wet development on the transfer sheet which has inferior oil absorptivity. CONSTITUTION:In an image receiving sheet is the transfer sheet with the inferior oil absorptivity and an unfixed image is formed on the transfer sheet, an oil absorbing sheet 5 is superposed on the unfixed image surface and those sheets in this state pass between a heat roller 1 and a pressure roller 2 for fixation and then separated. In this case, almost all the carrier liquid in the unfixed wet type toner image is absorbed by the oil absorbing sheet 5 and no image flowing phenomenon is caused because of the adhesive strength, etc., of toner particles. Consequently, the image of good quality is formed on the transfer sheet with the inferior oil absorptivity.

[Technical Field] The present invention relates to an image forming method, and more particularly to a method for forming an image on a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption using a liquid developer. [Prior Art] Developing means in electrostatic photography are broadly classified into methods using a liquid developer and methods using a dry developer. All of these have their advantages and disadvantages, but the use of liquid developers is advantageous in forming clear images. By the way, the unfixed toner image formed on the transfer sheet by the liquid developer is passed between a heat roller and a pressure roller (the unfixed toner image is passed so as to be in contact with the heat roller) and fixed. is normal. However, since liquid developers are originally composed of toner dispersed in an oil-based carrier liquid, during development, the toner adheres to the electrostatically charged image area on the photoconductor along with the carrier liquid, and this is transferred to the transfer sheet. Since the toner is transferred to the transfer sheet, the carrier liquid is also transferred to the transfer sheet along with the toner. Therefore, when a transfer sheet in this state is heated and fixed by a hot roller, no problem will occur if the transfer sheet is oil-absorbing, but if the transfer sheet is poorly oil-absorbing, the toner image may be washed away with the carrier liquid. This causes problems such as the so-called "image drift phenomenon" in which the image is distorted. However, attempts to fix a toner image obtained by a wet development method using a heated roller are disclosed in, for example, JP-A-53-76042 and JP-A-53-22.
Although this method has been proposed in publications such as No. 440, the actual situation is that it does not take into account the image drift phenomenon peculiar to transfer sheets with poor oil absorption such as OHP (overhead projector) films. [Purpose] The present invention provides an image forming method that does not cause image fading even when hot roller fixing is performed using a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption and that provides a high-quality toner image6.

The present invention is a method for forming an image on a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption by wet development, after forming a wet toner image on an oil absorption sheet or a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption, this unfixed toner image is transferred to a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption. If the toner is formed on a sheet, an oil-absorbing sheet is placed over the unfixed toner image surface,
In addition, when the unfixed toner image is formed on an oil-absorbing sheet, a transfer sheet with poor oil-absorbing properties is superimposed on the unfixed toner image surface, and this state is fixed by passing it through a heat roller, and then, The method is characterized in that these oil-absorbing sheets and transfer sheets with poor oil-absorbing properties are peeled off to obtain images on the transfer sheets with poor oil-absorbing properties, or on the oil-absorbing sheets and transfer sheets with poor oil-absorbing properties. The method of the present invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. The drawing (Fig. 1) is a diagram for explaining the outline of the method of the present invention, in which 1 is a heat roller, 2 is a pressure roller,
4 is a guide roller, 5 is a rolled sheet (either an oil-absorbing sheet or a transfer sheet with poor oil-absorbing properties), and 7 is a guide plate. On the image surface of a transfer sheet (not shown) with poor oil absorption and having an unfixed image sent onto the guide plate 7,
The oil-absorbing sheet 5 is cut with a cutter 6 to a size that matches the size of the image surface (or the transfer sheet) and is stacked with the help of a pressing jig 8. It is designed to be passed between the pressure roller 2 and the pressure roller 2. In addition, a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption that has a partially fixed image,
It will be understood from the description below that the position with respect to the oil-absorbing sheet may be reversed. When a wet development method is adopted, there are several ways to heat and fix the wet toner image (unfixed image) formed on the image receiving sheet, but using a heated roll consumes less heat and power. Therefore, it is advantageous in terms of energy saving and is also preferable in that it allows high-speed continuous copying.
The method of the present invention also takes this into consideration and employs a hot roll fixing means. However, as mentioned earlier, the wet toner image formed on the image-receiving sheet by wet development contains a considerable amount of carrier liquid, and if the transfer sheet (image-receiving sheet) has poor oil absorption, image fading may occur. occurs. In order to eliminate such inconveniences, the method of the present invention adopts either of the following means (1) or (2). ■If the image-receiving sheet is a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption and an unfixed image is formed on the transfer sheet, place an oil-absorbing sheet on the unfixed image surface and transfer the sheet to a heat roller. After being fixed by passing between the sheets and a pressure roller, these two sheets are separated. ■If the image-receiving sheet is an oil-absorbing sheet and an unfixed wet toner image is formed on the oil-absorbing sheet, place a sheet with poor oil absorption on the unfixed image surface and transfer the sheet to a hot roller. After passing it between the roller and the pressure roller and fixing it,
Separate these two sheets. By taking such measures, in the case of (■) above,
Most of the carrier liquid in the unfixed wet toner image is absorbed by the oil-absorbing sheet, and a high-quality image is formed on the transfer sheet, which has poor oil-absorbing properties, without causing image fading due to the adhesion of toner particles. will be done. On the other hand, in the case (2) above, a normal image is formed on the oil-absorbing sheet, and a reverse image is formed on the transfer sheet with poor oil-absorbing properties. Although this inverse image is clear, it is inferior to the above image in terms of density. Note that the terms "oil-absorbing sheet" and "oil-absorbing sheet" used in the method of the present invention are relative to each other, and it is important to note that the terms "oil-absorbing sheet" and "oil-absorbing sheet" are relative to each other. The basis of judgment is whether the amount can be absorbed. Therefore, roughly speaking, it is as follows. (b) Oil-absorbing sheet means a sheet in which dropped oil droplets have no contact angle and are absorbed into the sheet within a few tens of milliseconds. Specific examples include PPC paper, Japanese paper, and rugs. Examples include paper. (Example) A transfer sheet with poor oil absorption means a sheet in which dropped oil droplets are stabilized with a contact angle and are not absorbed into the sheet for several seconds.Specific examples include coated paper, synthetic paper, and resin film. etc. Next, examples will be shown. Example 1 An electrostatic charge image on a photoreceptor was visualized using a commercially available wet-type electrophotographic copying machine and a liquid developer (CT-5085 manufactured by Ricoh), and this wet-type toner image was transferred to a commercially available OHP sheet. . PPC paper is placed on the wet toner surface of this transfer sheet (OHP sheet), and the surface temperature of the sheet in this state is approximately 12
After thermocompression fixing was performed using a heated roller at 0° C., when the transfer sheet and PPC paper were peeled off, a good quality image (density about 1.2) without image fading was obtained on the OHP sheet. When an image was formed on an OHP sheet in exactly the same manner except that the surface temperature of the heat roller was raised to about 150° C., the image had a density of 1.3 and was of better quality. Example 2 In Example 1, the positions of the OHP sheet and the PPC paper were changed (the wet toner image from the photoreceptor was transferred to the PPC paper, the OHP sheet was placed on top of this, and the sheet in this state was heated). Image formation was carried out in exactly the same manner except that the image was fixed by pressure bonding. As a result, a clear reversed image (density approximately 1.0) without image blur was obtained on the OHP sheet. When an image of this was projected using a commercially available projector, a good projected enlarged image appeared. In addition. A normal image (density approximately 1.0) was obtained on the RPC paper. [Effects] According to the method of the present invention, even in wet development on a transfer sheet with poor oil absorption properties such as an IP film, the carrier liquid can be absorbed by another material before or during fixing. As a result, a high-quality image without image blur can be formed.
