Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve both rigidity and strength on the surface of a face part, and to restrain deformation thereof when a ball is struck, by a method wherein both a three-dimensional woven fabric which is mainly made of carbon fiber and laid on the whole of the face part and has a specified value or more in thickness, and a reinforced resin which is mainly made of another carbon fiber and forms a crust, are integrally formed. CONSTITUTION:A core part 5 is prepared by a method wherein a glass balloons (hollow, small balls) are mixed with a material, such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin or vinyl ester resin, and they are so rigidified as to have a density of 0.3 to 0.8g/cm<3>, by shaping them. After that, this core part 5 is set in a forming die, and a three-dimensional woven fabric 7 mainly made of carbon fiber is laid on the surface of the whole of a face part, which is one millimeter or more in thickness. Other parts of a crust are also integrally formed so as to become about one millimeter or more in thickness by filling material 6, such as random SMC or woven fabric SMC. In this way, a flying distance is increased and durability is improved by this golf club head.

The synthetic composite head is made by mixing inorganic minute hollow bodies with resin and molding and hardening it (Japanese Patent Publication No. 59-8567
No. 8) or one in which short carbon fiber reinforced resin is arranged on the outer shell of the core (Utility Model Application No. 158668/1983) is known.

However, not much attention has been paid to the most important ball-hitting surface of a golf head, that is, the face surface. Instead, short carbon fiber reinforced resin is used as is, or a trapezoidal face insert is later fitted. is commonly practiced.

When a golf club head hits a ball, the force applied to the ball hitting surface, ie, the face surface, is extremely large, and conventional methods have been used to increase the thickness of the golf club head in order to withstand this force. That is, the reinforcing fibers were present only in a direction parallel to the face surface, and had no resistance to collapse in a direction perpendicular to the face surface.

The purpose of the present invention is to improve the drawbacks of the conventional golf club heads made of reinforced resin mainly composed of carbon fibers, to provide good puffiness as a tap, and especially to have high hardness and strength on the face surface, and to improve the hardness and strength of the face surface when hitting the ball. The objective is to provide a smaller golf club head.

That is, the gist of the present invention is to provide a golf club head in which the core body is made of a glass balloon and resin, and the outer shell is made of a reinforced resin mainly made of carbon fiber. This golf tap head is formed by integrally molding a three-dimensional fabric mainly made of carbon fibers having the above thickness and a reinforced resin mainly made of other carbon fibers forming an outer shell.

If the thickness is less than 1 inch, the three-dimensional fabric will not be effective, and especially if it is placed on the outer layer, most of the score twins will be cut when inserted, which is not preferable. Moreover, if it exceeds 8■, it is not preferable because it becomes difficult to mold and at the same time, the feeling becomes poor because it is too hard.

The three-dimensional fabric to be used preferably has a total fiber content of 34 or more and 35 or less in the direction perpendicular to the face surface (two directions in Figure 1); if it is less than 34, the resistance in the direction perpendicular to the face surface is small. , 35, the stiffness of the entire face surface deteriorates.

Furthermore, when placing this three-dimensional fabric on the face surface, it is necessary to integrally mold the entire face surface with the main body.

In order to achieve the full effect of arranging a three-dimensional fabric on the face, it is placed over the entire face and at the same time is molded integrally with the main body, so no matter where on the face the ball hits, the entire ball receives force. This makes it possible to efficiently transmit the force of the golf head speed to the ball, making it possible to extend the flight distance by more than 4 shifts compared to conventional golf balls. With conventional heads, a dent occurs in the ball-hitting part of the face, making it impossible to efficiently transmit the force of the golf head speed to the ball.

Furthermore, the rigidity of the three-dimensional fabric molded product used in the present invention in the vertical direction (two directions in Figure 1) is at least 354 or more compared to conventional molded products because the fibers are arranged in the vertical direction.
It is usually higher than 504, which is the source of its excellent repellency.

In this case, the saw μ can also be integrally molded. At that time, a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, etc. is added to the three-dimensional fabric at a resin content of 30%.
The impregnated material is set on the face so that it becomes ~70%. It is preferable that the reinforcing fibers of the random EIMO and woven SMO fibers are mainly carbon fibers so that the entire face is 5 to 10-, but other fibers may be mixed within the range of less than 50wt4. do not have.
