The illustrated developing device 4 uses a so-called one-component developer made of magnetic toner particles as a developer, and the developer is supplied to a developer reservoir 4b from a developer cassette 12 fitted and attached to a developer supply section 4a. The developing sleeve 14 having the magnet body 13 provided inside the opening of the developer reservoir 4b is replenished.
The developer is attached to the surface from b and carried in the direction of the arrow, and the electrostatic image on the photoreceptor drum 1 is developed into a toner image at the portion where the developing sleeve 14 approaches the photoreceptor drum 1. To fit the developer cassette 12 into the developing device 4, as shown in FIG. , Peel off the seal 15 and insert the developer cassette 12 into the insertion opening of the developer replenishment section 4a with the developer replenishment port 12a facing upward. When the insertion is complete, rotate the developer cassette 12 approximately 180 degrees to open the developer replenishment port. 12a
It is done by pointing down. Then, the developer cassette 12 that has been replenished with developer is taken out by the reverse operation of the above-mentioned insertion. To prevent the developer from spilling outside the developing device 4 during this removal, the developer cassette 12 is
A mesh member 1 with which the outer periphery of the developer cassette 12 comes into contact is inside the developer replenishing portion 4a into which the developer replenishing portion 4a is fitted.
6 are provided as shown in FIGS. 2 to 6.

The mesh member 16 shown in FIGS. 2 to 4 is made of a cylindrical mesh, and one end is fixed to the back wall of the developer supply port 4a in such a manner that the inner diameter is narrower than the outer diameter of the developer cassette 12. The other end is fixedly attached to the entrance of the developer replenishing section 4a with an outer diameter approximately equal to the outer diameter of the developer cassette 12. This mesh member 16
may be obtained, for example, by braiding synthetic resin monofilaments, or by making a large number of incisions in a cylindrical synthetic resin film. By providing such a mesh member 16, the developer cassette 12
When attaching and detaching, the outer periphery is rubbed by the mesh member 16 as shown in FIG.
When the developer cassette 12 is taken out from the developing device 4, the developer is prevented from adhering to the outer periphery of the developer cassette 12 and coming out together with it by scraping the mesh member 16, and the developer is removed from the outside of the developing device 4. This prevents spillage and contamination. When the developer cassette 12 is fitted into the developer supply section 4a, the mesh member 16 assumes the shape shown in FIG. 4.

The mesh member 16 in FIG.
It consists of a cylindrical perforated plate fitted inside so as to form the inner peripheral surface of a. Such mesh member 1
6, the developer adhering to the developer cassette 12 and trying to come out is scraped off, and is prevented from spilling to the outside of the developing device 4. Note that it is better for the mesh member 16 to be rolled into a cylindrical shape and separated in the length direction so that the inner diameter is smaller than the outer diameter of the developer cassette 12, rather than a complete cylinder. This is preferable because the rubbing action exerted on the developer cassette 12 becomes stronger. It goes without saying that such mesh member 16 is also locked by a suitable locking means so that it does not slip out of developer supply section 4a. Further, the material of the mesh member 16 may be metal or synthetic resin.

The mesh member 16 in FIG.
It consists of a net or a flexible perforated plate provided above the developer fall port in (a). Since most of the developer adheres to the developer cassette 12 near the developer fall port of the developer replenishing section 4a, the mesh member 16 also prevents the developer from spilling out. This can be effectively prevented.

As described above, according to the present invention, in which the developer replenishing portion into which the developer cassette is fitted is provided with a mesh member that comes into contact with the outer periphery of the developer cassette, the developer adheres to the developer cassette and is removed from the developing device. This prevents the liquid from being carried to the outside of the machine and contaminating the surrounding areas of the developing device, copying machine, etc.

Note that the present invention is not limited to a developing device that uses a one-component developer, but may be one that uses a two-component developer. It goes without saying that the developing device of the present invention can also be used in recording devices other than electrophotographic copying machines.
