オンデマンド型インクジエツトプリンタでは、
印字ヘツド部に形成され、且つノズルスリツト部
にオリフイスを介して連通する圧力室にインクを
一旦貯蔵し、インク室背面に設けられた振動素子
を動作し、その振動によりオリフイスを通過して
ノズリスリツト部からインク粒子を噴射するよう
になつている。したがつてオリフイスはノズルス
リツト部を介して直接外気に接触する構造にあ
る。しかしながら、このような構造では、オリフ
イスに常時インクが充填されているので、非印字
時にインクが乾燥して目詰りを生じ、印字する際
にインクが噴射されなくなる問題があつた。

ランジヤー50が接続している。このような構造
で、キヤツピング駆動されると、プランジヤー5
0がアーム4を押圧し、図の鎖線で示す位置より
キヤツプ1を設けたアーム4が移動する。このキ
ヤツプ1の位置にヘツド(図示せず)が非印字時
に配置する構造にしておけば、非印字時に駆動ス
イツチ手段をONすることによりヘツドはキヤツ
プされる。またこの状態でスイツチをOFFすれ
ば、復帰バネ2によりアーム4は元の位置に復帰
する。しかし、このような装置では、キヤツプ1
の開閉時に、ヘツドにソレノイド5の振動が伝わ
り、ヘツドのノズルスリツト部からインクが飛散
してしまうという不都合な点がある。この点を解
決するために、ソレノイド5にダンパー装置を設
けるか、あるいは、ソレノイド5の代わりにモー
ターを用いるといつた装置が考えられるが、この
ような装置ではコストが高くなるという不都合な
点があり、いずれにしても以上のような装置では
実用化に不向きである。
