PURPOSE:To cut down power consumption by detecting the operation state of a printer and stopping power supply for a heat source in a fixation mechanism in the case that the printer is on standby. CONSTITUTION:A power source control mechanism 3 is connected with a temperature detecting device 1d, a standby state detecting mechanism 4 for detecting the standby state of the printer based on the presence or absence of a printing data which is held and also based on whether the printing operation has been finished or not, and a power source 2. In the case that the standby state detecting mechanism 4 detects that the printing data is held by the printer or that the printing operation is being executed, the power source 2 is controlled by the output of the temperature detecting device 1d so that the temperature of a fixation roller 1a may become an optimum temperature for the fixation of toner. And also in the case that the standby state detecting mechanism 4 detects that the printer is in the state that all of the printing operations are finished without holding the data, that means, that the printer is on standby, the power source 2 is controlled by the power source control mechanism 3 so as to stop the power supply for the heat source 1c.

れ以外の場合には前記熱源への電力供給を行うように前
記電源を制御する電源制御機構とを有するものである。
