Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber wire from causing breakage in a stage of connecting terminal members, and to facilitate the connecting work by protecting the optical fiber wire by passing it through a tubular member, and passing the tubular member through a hollow protective member of an optical fiber cable. CONSTITUTION:A tubular member 20 has a larger inside diameter than an outside diameter of an optical fiber wire 11 for an optical fiber cable 10, and a smaller outside diameter than an inside diameter of a hollow protective member 12. The optical fiber wire 11 is fixed to the tubular member 20 at a tip end of the tubular member 20 with an adhesive agent 21 after allowing the optical fiber wire 11to penetrate through the tubular member 20. The optical fiber wire 11 protruded from a tip end of the tubular member 20 is inserted into a first hole 31 on a terminal member 30, and fixed by fitting the front end part of the tubular member 20 to a second hole 33 on the terminal member 30 with an adhesive agent 34. Thus, the optical fiber wire 11 is protected by the tubular member 20, and the tubular member 20 is penetrated through the hollow protective member 12, accordingly, there is no fear for causing breakage of the optical fiber wire 11 during a connecting work of the terminal member 30.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Conventionally, optical fiber cables have been of the type that have a hollow protective member that covers and protects the optical fiber strands that guide the light so as not to hinder the axial movement of the strands. In this type of optical fiber cable, the optical fiber and the hollow protection member that protects it are not fixed, and the optical fiber moves freely within the hollow protection member. When attempting to connect the optical fiber to the terminal member of the optical fiber, the mechanical strength of the optical fiber is extremely weak, and the optical fiber is easily broken, making the connection work difficult. For this reason, conventionally, for example,
An optical fiber connector as disclosed in Japanese Patent No. 56489 has been proposed. This fiber optic connector is
As shown in the schematic cross-sectional view in FIG. 4 of the accompanying drawings, the terminal member 5 is provided with a first hole 5A,
It has a second hole 5B and a third hole 5C. - way,
The optical fiber cable to be connected to this terminal member 5 includes an optical fiber strand 1 that guides light, and this strand 1.
A hollow protection member 2 that covers and protects the wire 1 so as not to interfere with its axial movement, and exterior members such as a tension-resistant member 3 and an exterior covering member 4 that cover the outer periphery of the hollow protection member 2. When connecting to the terminal member 5, the cylindrical member 6 is inserted into the optical fiber 1 exposed from the tip of the hollow protection member 2 and fixed using a suitable adhesive 7. Then, the optical fiber 1 is inserted into the first hole 5A of the terminal member 5, the front end portions of the cylindrical member 6 and the hollow protection member 2 are fitted into the second hole 5B, and the tension-resistant member 3 and the outer coating are inserted. Part 4
The front end portion of the exterior member, etc., is fitted into the third hole and fixed using appropriate adhesives 8 and 9, respectively.

Problems to be Solved by the Invention According to the structure of the conventional optical fiber connector as described above, the outer diameter of the cylindrical member 6 fixed to the optical fiber 1 is approximately equal to the outer diameter of the hollow protection member 2. Since they are made equal, the optical fiber 1 is inserted into the first hole 5A of the terminal member 5.
When inserting, the cylindrical member 6 comes into contact with the tip of the hollow protection member 2 and prevents the optical fiber strand 1 from moving further into the hollow protection member 2, so the connection to the terminal member is relatively easy. It is considered that the possibility that the optical fiber 1 etc. will be broken at that time will be relatively reduced.

However, in such a conventional structure, the hollow protection member 2 and the cylindrical member 6 of the optical fiber cable are only mechanically connected by the optical fiber 1, which has very weak mechanical strength. During this period, the mechanical strength was weak, and as a result, failures tended to occur.
