Abstract

PURPOSE:To display necessary attributes even for characters which differ in size by storing identification codes of attributes given to characters and patterns of the attributes for the identification codes, and displaying the patterns of attributes corresponding to specified identification codes for characters within a specified rectangular range. CONSTITUTION:This circuit is provided with an attribute table 1 which contains the coordinate values of the left upper point and right lower point indicating the rectangular range on the screen of a display device and the identification codes indicating attributes given to characters within the rectangular range and an attribute pattern storage area 2 stored with patterns corresponding to all the identification codes. A corresponding pattern is selected in the attribute pattern storage area 2 by referring to the identification code of the kind of the attribute given to a character in the rectangular range specified in the attribute table 1, and the coordinate values of the rectangular range are read out of the attribute table 1, sent out to a display device together with the pattern that a selecting circuit 3 selects, and displayed.
