Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable an early fire-extinguishment of a tank, by providing a plurality of rainproof plates which cover a space between a side wall of the tank and an outer periphery of a floating roof and are pivotably mounted to mounting brackets to open the space through which an extinguishing fluid is introduced upon occurrence of a tank fire. CONSTITUTION:Rainproof plates 4 are arranged around the entire outer periphery of a floating roof to cover a sealing member 2 upon rainy weather. The rainproof plates are divided into a plurality of blocks the number of which corresponds to that of fire extinguishers 5. Rainproof plates 4 included in each block are connected together by means of a connecting member 6 to which a proper number of unit hooks 7 are attached. To the unit hooks 7 are connected wires 8 which are wound up by a winding device. Upon winding-up of wires 8, rainproof plates 4 are pivotably rotated around their connecting points to mounting brackets 21 to open a contacting periphery of the sealing member 2 and side wall 3 whereby a large amount of fire extinguishing fluid is directly introduced over the sealing member 2, resulting in early fire- extinguishment of inside of the tank.

(Problem to be solved by the invention) In conventional fire extinguishing systems for floating roof storage tanks, the part of the sealing device that ejects flame directly in the event of a fire is constructed with a rain shield plate. Since it is covered, there is a problem that extinguishing liquid from the fire extinguishing device cannot easily enter the sealing device section.
