Abstract

PURPOSE:To avoid the trouble due to the depletion of paper and smoothly supply paper by installing a remaining quantity counter having the structure in contact with the upper surface of paper in a paper feeding cassette, permitting the remaining paper quantity to be detected without looking into the machine during the operation. CONSTITUTION:A remaining quantity counter body 4 is set onto the upper cover 3 of a cassette in a copying machine or facsimile body 1, and pressed by a leaf spring 5, and slided according to the change of the leaf spring 5, and the remaining quantity of paper is shown. Paper is supplied into a cassette, and the upper cover 3 is closed and the cassette is set onto the machine, and then the top edge of the leaf spring 5 contacts a paper, which is compressed, and at the same time, a pointer slides towards the 'FULL' on a guide plate. When the quantity of paper reduces, and the uppermost surface of the paper lowers from (a) to (b), the leaf spring 5 extends, and the pointer slides towards the 'EMPTY'.

[Prior Art] As shown in FIG. 1, this type of conventional technology indicates the remaining amount of paper by making a peephole in the side of the cassette or pasting a scale sticker on the inner surface. However, if you wanted to view these scales while operating a copying machine or facsimile, you had to crouch down to look through them, which was impractical. Additionally, each user was unable to set the fuel gauge in a location that was easy for him or her to see, making it worthless for some users.

In the above configuration, as shown in Figure 1, when the cassette is filled with paper, the top cover is closed, and the machine is set, the tip of the leaf spring contacts the paper and is compressed, and at the same time the pointer slides on the guide plate in the rFULLJ direction. do. Then, as the paper decreases and the top surface of the paper falls from a to b as shown in FIG. 5, the leaf spring stretches and the pointer slides in the rEMPTYJ direction.

In another embodiment shown in FIG. 8.9, 12 is the fuel gauge body;
Reference numeral 13 designates a paper presser pointer which integrates the paper presser plate and pointer of the previous embodiment, and 14 a support base that supports the paper presser pointer and the torsion coil spring. Note that even without a torsion coil spring, the pointer can be operated by its own weight.

In the embodiment with this configuration, when paper is replenished, the paper presser pointer lies horizontally, and the pointer part opposite to the one in contact with the paper is rFULL.
When the paper is running low, the paper presser pointer will come up.
The pointer moves in the rEMPTYJ direction.

[Effects of the Invention] As explained above, by installing a fuel gauge that is in contact with the top surface of the paper in the paper feed cassette, it is possible to maintain line of sight while operating a copying machine or facsimile without having to look into the paper as in the conventional case. By simply moving it to the paper cassette, you can see at a glance how much paper is left, which helps avoid problems caused by running out of paper and makes it easier to replenish paper. In addition, the structure is very simple, so the cost is low and it is hard to break. Furthermore, the structure allows you to directly read the height of the paper, so it is easy to install. However, it can be attached with double-sided tape, etc., and will not affect other units.
