Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a roll with a cooling device simplified in structure by forming a groove in the circumferential direction on the surface of a roll piece, burying a metallic pipe excellent in thermal conductivity in the groove and circulating liquid cooling agent. CONSTITUTION:A galvanized groove is provided on the inner wall surface of an operating roll piece 1 in contact with a material to be formed to bury a copper pipe 24. This operating roll piece 1 is fixed by a set bolt 5 to a boss roll 20, the copper pipe 24 is inserted partially into a water vent provided on the boss roll 20, sealed detachably by a packing 25 in the shape of an O-ring and communicated respectively with a feed water port and an exhaust port of a rotary joint 3. The inner wall surface of the groove is galvanized, prevented from abrasion by dewing in the groove, etc., and the contact state is improved. As a result, this is simple in structure and effective to prolong the life of the roll.

Among strip forming rolls, especially squeeze rolls for ERW tube welding, the edge of the roll comes into contact with the material to be formed which is heated to high temperature for welding, and is further internally heated to a high temperature due to the induction effect of high-frequency current for welding. Ru. For this reason, seizure with the molded material is likely to occur. The effect of tempering causes inconveniences such as loss of material performance such as wear resistance.

To solve this problem of roll heating, conventional methods have been adopted, such as spraying water over the entire welded area including the squeeze roll, or providing a cooling water passage inside the squeeze roll body and passing cooling water through it. However, the former has problems with the performance and reliability of the welded part, and the latter has a complicated roll structure due to the formation of cooling water passages that prevent water leakage, and a sufficient cooling effect cannot be obtained.

This working roll piece 1 is fixed to a boss roll 20 with a set bolt 5, and the copper pipe 24 of the working roll piece 1 is partially fitted into a water passage hole provided in the boss roll 20, and is removably sealed with an O-ring-shaped backing 25. and are connected to the supply and drain ports of the rotary joint 3, respectively. To embed the copper pipe 24, a groove having an overhang is provided in the working roll piece 1 as shown in C, and the copper pipe 24 is driven into the groove. Furthermore, the inner wall surface of the groove is coated with galvanized to prevent corrosion due to dew condensation in the groove and further improve the contact condition. In this embodiment, the part of the roll in contact with the material to be formed is made removable as the working roll piece 1, in preparation for replacement in case of damage.

In addition, since the cooling is done indirectly, corrosion of the working roll due to cooling water can be prevented, which is effective in maintaining the life of the working roll. This has a great effect in preventing carbides and non-metallic inclusions that would otherwise occur in the welded part of the material to be formed when water is sprayed onto the welded part.
