Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable supplying while holding thixotropic property at low cost by supplying metallic slurry to forming process while giving forced fluidity with a supplying apparatus providing screw for carrying the slurry. CONSTITUTION:When the screw 24 is driven with a driving device 22, the metallic slurry, which is partially solidified-state by stirring at solid-liquid coexistent zone in the stirring process, is sent under pressurizing in a soaking furnace 25 to front face of a die 26 while giving the forced fluidity, that is, under stirring-state. Then, the metallic slurry is held to the thixotropic property and supplied to forming process under condition of holding the fluidity. In the forming process, the metallic slurry is pushed out to the forming die 28 by adjusting flexibility with a preheating furnace 27 to execute continuous casting.

This electromagnetic stirring means is used to make partially solidified metal slurry develop and maintain thixotropic properties (thixotropy) by stirring in a solid-liquid coexistence region. In order to obtain a sufficient effect, a large-capacity device is required, and the efficiency is extremely low due to indirect stirring, which results in high power consumption.
This ultimately increases material manufacturing costs.

Therefore, when the screw 24 is driven by the drive device 22, the metal slurry, which is in a partially solidified state due to stirring in the solid-liquid coexistence zone in the stirring process, is forced to flow, that is, uniformly in the stirring state. The metal slurry is fed under pressure through the heat furnace 25 to the front surface of the die 26, and as a result, the metal slurry develops and maintains thixotropic properties and is fed to the molding process while maintaining fluidity.

[Effects of the Invention] As detailed above, in the molding method and apparatus of the present invention, when feeding the metal slurry that is partially solidified due to stirring in the stirring process to the molding process, the metal slurry In order to develop and maintain thixotropic properties, electricity that requires large amounts of power has been used in the past! ! Instead of a stirring device, a mechanical stirring means using a transfer screw of a feeding device is used to transfer the metal slurry at the same time as stirring. Therefore, the metal slurry can be delivered using a simple device at low cost while maintaining its thixotropic properties and fluidity.
