Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a composition for oral cavity application, effective in chemically removing stains, plaques, food refuses, nicotine, etc., attached or deposited on the tooth, by compounding a ketone compound and an epoxy compound. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is produced by mixing (A) a chain ketone compound having a total carbon number of 8-10 (e.g. 2-octanone) and (B) one or more kinds of epoxy compounds having a total carbon number of 8-10 (e.g. 1,2-epoxyoctane) to (C) an abrasive, binder, thickener, surfactant, sweetener, antiseptic, water, etc., and converting the mixture into the objective form by conventional method. The amounts of the ketone compound and the epoxy compound are 0.01-10% and 0.01-20% based on the whole composition, respectively. The oral composition is used in the form of dentifrice (e.g. tooth paste), mouth wash, troche, chewing gum, etc. In can clean the tooth which is beyond the reach of brushes and can improve the whiteness of the tooth.

There is a risk of tooth wear. Conversely, if the polishing power is lowered in order to avoid damage to the teeth, there is a problem in that the cleaning power also decreases. In addition, food particles adhering to or depositing on the teeth can be removed by brushing the tooth surface with a toothbrush, but there is also the problem that areas that the toothbrush cannot reach cannot be cleaned.

The oral composition according to the present invention contains one or more selected from chain ketone compounds having a total carbon number of 8 to 10 and epoxy compounds having a total carbon number of 8 to 10. With this, it is possible to effectively remove tooth stains such as stain, plaque, food particles, and cigarette tar by chemical action, and it is also possible to clean areas that the brush cannot reach, increasing the whitening effect on tooth surfaces. Furthermore, since the above-mentioned chain ketone compound and epoxy compound have a high cleaning effect, the amount of abrasive compounded can be reduced when preparing toothpaste, and the wear of teeth due to the abrasive agent can also be reduced.
