Then no processing is given to the video signal itself from a pickup circuit 10 and the special effect information is recorded on a magnetic tape 24 as a PCM-ID together with the pickup video signal. A video signal reproduction processing circuit 42 separates a luminance signal component and a chrominance signal component from the reproduced video signal from a gate circuit 40 and applies FM demodulation to the luminance signal component and applies frequency inversion to the chrominance signal component and outputs the result with recombination.
