Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate a possible damage to a fuel rod with a torsional rupture of a lower end plug, by a method wherein the lower end plug is formed into a polygonal prism while being provided with a female thread and a male thread protrusion is provided at a position of being coupled to the lower end plug of a lower tieplate. CONSTITUTION:A combined fuel 22a has a hexaprism-shaped lower end plug 28a, which 28a contains a female screw 33. A lower tieplate 25a has a male thread protrusion 32 fitted into a fuel rod 22a. A female thread 33 of the lower end prism 28a is coupled to the male thread protrusion 32 of the lower tie plate 25. This enables easy and accurate grasping of the lower end prism 28a of the combined fuel rod with a grip tool. This also eliminate the torsional rupture on the side of the lower end prism 28 when the end prism sticks hard.

The upper tie plate 4 and the lower tie plate 5 support the upper end plug 9 and the lower end plug 8, respectively.
It is equipped in the corresponding position. As shown in FIG. 7 (an enlarged view of part B in FIG. 5), some of the support holes 11 of the lower tie plate 5 are connected to fuel rods 2a (hereinafter referred to as combined fuel rods) having male threaded lower end plugs 8a. It has a female screw hole 11a for coupling with a rod (referred to as a rod).

As shown in FIG. 6 (an enlarged view of part A in FIG. 5), the upper end plugs 9a of these combined fuel rods 2a penetrate the support hole 10 of the upper tie plate 4 and protrude upward. A male thread for screwing the retaining nut 12 is formed in the portion. A total of eight combined fuel rods 2a are arranged along each side wall of the channel box 1, with two on each side.

However, in recent years, as the burnup of fuel a:El has increased, the stay period of the fuel in the reactor has become longer, and as a result, the
[A phenomenon occurs in which the threaded lower end plug 8a and the male threaded support hole 11a of the lower tie plate 5 that is connected thereto are stuck together due to the formation of an oxide film at the threaded portion.

Therefore, grasp the upper end plug 9a with a jig and connect it to the ill rod 2.

Therefore, in order to rotate and dismantle the combined fuel rods 2a, it is necessary to grasp and rotate the barrel portion 13 of the lower end plug 8a, which is visible from the outside. However, the barrel 13 of the lower end stopper 8a has a cylindrical shape, so it is easy to slip when applying torque with a gripping jig, and has a structure that makes it difficult to transmit rotational force.

In addition, with this structure, if the male threaded lower end plug 8a is rotated forcibly, there is a risk that the male threaded lower end plug 8a may be screwed off.
This will lead to damage to the fuel rods. When a fuel rod ruptures, fissile products are released, exposing workers to extensive radiation exposure.

(Function) In the fuel assembly of the present invention, since the lower end plug of the combined fuel rod is in the shape of a polygonal column, when it is gripped with a gripping jig, it can be gripped securely at the corners, making it easier to transmit rotational force. I don't think I'll ever skid again. In addition, since the end plug side is female threaded unlike the conventional one, there is no risk of the lower end plug being screwed off and causing the fuel rod to break. Furthermore, if a plurality of vertical grooves are added to the lower end plug of the above structure, the area of contact between the lower end plug screw part and the lower tie plate screw part can be reduced, and the sticking horn can be reduced, making it more effective. It is true.

In this embodiment, the lower end plug 28b of the combined fuel rod is in the shape of a hexagonal column having a female thread 34 as in the previous embodiment, but the lower end plug has a plurality of vertical grooves 35 or a lower tie plate. It is formed at the male screw protrusion 32 insertion position.

Therefore, the area of close contact between the female screw 34 of the lower end plug 28b and the male screw protrusion 32 of the lower tie plate can be reduced. Since the adhesion area is reduced, the adhesion area is reduced and the adhesion force is also reduced. Therefore, the rotational force required during disassembly may be smaller than that of the conventional method. Therefore, in this embodiment, disassembly can be performed more easily and easily than in the first embodiment.

[Effects of the Invention] As explained above, in the fuel assembly of the present invention, the lower end plug of the combined fuel rods is made into a prismatic shape, so the lower end plug can be reliably grasped and rotated when the fuel assembly is disassembled, and Contrary to the conventional method, the lower end plug has a female thread and the lower tie plate has a male thread to connect them, so even if there is significant adhesion during disassembly, the lower end plug will not have to be threaded. Therefore, the fuel assembly of the present invention can be easily and safely dismantled.
