Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain sure connecting and fixing functions, to simplify structure, to enable rapid assembly operation and to prevent increase of an optical fiber loss by using gripping members and holding members having a wedge function. CONSTITUTION:The outside peripheral face of a multifiber optical fiber 6 is grasped by the plural gripping members 3 via elastic materials 8 interposed therebetween and the holding members 2 each having a tapered surface 2a which cames into pressurized contact with the tapered surface 3a of the gripping member 3 are externally covered onto the gripping members, by which the optical fiber 6 is grasped. The holding members 2 are prevented from being pulled from a connector body 1 in this state. The fixing structure of the optical fiber 6 to the connector body 1 is thereby extremely simplified and the formation thereof is facilitated; in addition, the sure function to prevent the pull off is obtd.; furthermore, the formation of microbends in the optical fiber or the damage of the optical fiber is prevented.
