Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a small diameter ring-like member to be always held coaxially with a chuck body by mounting expansibly openably a plurality of chuck pawls on the tubular chuck body through a chuck pawls operating shaft and operating spring. CONSTITUTION:When a cylinder rod 12 is lowered to insert a holding portion 13a of a chuck body 13 into a through hole 19a of a ring-like member 19, chuck pawls 16 projecting to the outer periphery of holding portion 13a pushes up a chuck operating shaft 17 against an operating spring to close the through hole while being pressed against the peripheral surface of said through hole 19a so that the ring-like member 19 is held by the chuck pawls 16 under the spitted condition. The ring-like members 19 having different inner diameters can be held by variously shaped chuck pawls 16 so that even small diameter ring-like member 19 can be held. Since a series of the respective chuck pawls 16 work, a self-aligning function is provided which holds said member 19 coaxially with the chuck body 13.
