発明者らが本開示に想到するに至った当時、空気調和機の室外ユニットは、特許文献1に示すように、圧縮機を防音材で覆って低騒音化を図っているが、家庭で使用される室外ユニットは、快適性向上のため、より一層の低騒音化が求められている。前記一層の低温化を進めるためには四方弁部分で生じる冷媒流の衝突音が外部に漏れないようにすることが最も効果的であることを発明者らは見出した。又、上記四方弁は低温冷媒が流れる関係から結露が発生しやすく、この結露水が滴化するが、上記四方弁の下方にはスペースや配管上の制約の関係から電動三方弁が配置されていることが多い。そのため、上記結露水が三方弁のコイル等に滴下することがあるということも見出した。
