Description
The present invention relates to a writing instrument that can reduce the barrel diameter while maintaining the width of the lines drawn, even when using a pen core that produces a thicker line.
Conventionally, when a thick pen core is used in a writing instrument to produce a thicker line width, the barrel diameter of the writing instrument is correspondingly thicker, and when a thin pen core is used to produce a narrower line width, the barrel diameter of the writing instrument is correspondingly thin.
Marking pens with refills that produce thicker lines also have a thick barrel diameter, so they take up space when stored in a pencil case. For example, if multiple marking pens with thick refills are stored in a pencil case together with writing implements with thin barrels, the pencil case itself must be large, which is inconvenient.
Examples of writing instruments that take into consideration the size, shape, and ink supply mechanism of the pen core are:
1) A writing instrument that has a valve mechanism between the pen tip and a main body that contains ink, and that opens when the pen tip is pressed, allowing the ink in the main body to be guided to the pen tip, and that is characterized in that the valve mechanism is open when the cap is attached (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
2) A marking pen having a plurality of pen bodies, in which ink in an ink storage section provided in a barrel is supplied to the pen bodies, the pen bodies being made of a material that conducts ink, and the plurality of pen bodies being in direct contact with each other so that the ink in the ink storage section is electrically connected to the pen bodies (see, for example, Patent Document 2).
3) A replaceable nib writing instrument comprising a barrel, an ink reservoir contained in the barrel, and a replaceable nib connected to the ink reservoir, wherein the insertion length of the replaced nib into the ink reservoir is longer than the insertion length of the original nib into the ink reservoir; and a replaceable nib writing instrument wherein the nib comprises a locking step and a tapered portion formed in front of the locking step, and the length of the tapered portion of the replaced nib is longer than the length of the tapered portion of the original nib (see, for example, Patent Document 3).
4) A writing implement characterized in that a holder having a thick pen tip body with a larger diameter than the thin pen tip body is removably attached to the tip of the writing implement barrel, and that when attached, the tip surface of the thin pen tip body and the rear end surface of the thick pen tip body are in contact with each other (see, for example, Patent Document 4).
However, the writing implements of Patent Documents 1 to 3 do not change the outer diameter of the nib body, and do not have the technical idea of making the shaft diameter of the writing implement thinner. The writing implement of Patent Document 4 simply has a holder with a thick nib body attached to it that can be detached and attached freely to a thin nib body, and allows the thickness of the written line to be selected by writing with either the thin nib body or the thick nib body depending on the writing purpose without changing the shaft diameter of the writing implement. However, when writing with a thick nib body, air replacement is not taken into consideration, and there are problems such as the inability to write well.

More preferably, by forming a composition of ink for a writing instrument that contains at least water, a water-soluble organic solvent, a colorant, and glyceryl glucoside, it has an excellent effect of suppressing drying of the pen tip, the surface of the handwriting dries quickly, the handwriting does not spread even when rubbed, and the handwriting is further prevented from smudging even in a low-temperature environment.
The glyceryl glucoside used is α-glyceryl glucoside in which glycerin and glucose are condensed through an α-bond, and β-glyceryl glucoside in which glycerin and glucose are condensed through a β-bond. When a pigment is used as the colorant, a dispersant can be used to stably disperse the pigment. As the dispersant, a dispersant used as a pigment dispersant, such as a water-soluble resin or an anionic or nonionic surfactant, which has been conventionally used, can be used. The amount of these water-soluble resins and surfactants added is preferably 0.05% by mass or more and 20.0% by mass or less relative to 10.0% by weight of the pigment. These water-soluble resins and surfactants may be used alone or in a mixture of two or more.
Pigment dispersions in which pigments are dispersed in an aqueous medium can also be used. As pigment dispersions, inorganic pigments, organic pigments, fluorescent pigments, etc. can be used, and they may be used alone or in combination of two or more. However, when using colored resin particles as a colorant, resin particles that do not dissolve in organic solvents are used.
In addition to the colorants described above, colorless particles such as resin particles, wax particles, and resin emulsions can be used to adjust the color. Among these, the use of oxidized polyethylene wax particles can also suppress the offset of handwriting.
Regardless of whether the ink is a colorant or colorless particles, it is preferable to have a solids concentration of 25% by mass or more in the ink for the writing instrument, since this can prevent the ink from showing through to the back of the writing. In addition, the use of oxidized polyethylene wax particles can prevent the ink from showing through to the back of the writing instrument even if the solids concentration in the ink for the writing instrument is 25% by mass or less, and the content of the oxidized polyethylene wax particles is preferably 0.1% by mass or more and 50.0% by mass or less, more preferably 0.5% by mass or more and 23.0% by mass or less, and most preferably 1.0% by mass or more and 15.0% by mass or less, based on the total amount of the ink composition.
The water-soluble organic solvent used in the ink for writing instruments refers to an organic solvent that can dissolve 10 g or more in 100 g of water. Among these water-soluble organic solvents, glycol ethers and water-soluble organic solvents having a cyclic structure are preferred from the viewpoint of the pen tip permeability into paper and the suppression of drying of the pen tip, and water-soluble organic solvents having a cyclic structure are more preferred. Among these water-soluble organic solvents, the combination of glycol ethers and/or water-soluble organic solvents having a cyclic structure with polyhydric alcohols is preferred because the interaction between glyceryl glucoside and the water-soluble organic solvent further improves the suppression of pen tip drying and the pen tip permeability into paper. The amount of these water-soluble organic solvents added is preferably 0.1% by mass or more and 50.0% by mass or less, and more preferably 5.0% by mass or more and 20.0% by mass or less, based on the total amount of the ink composition. These water-soluble organic solvents may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
The viscosity of the water-based ink for writing instruments is preferably 1.0 mPa·s or more and 20.0 mPa·s or less at a measurement temperature of 25° C. and a shear rate of 76.6 s −1 . The surface tension is preferably 30 to 60 mN/m.
In addition to the above components, additives such as lubricants, viscosity adjusters, preservatives, antifungals, rust inhibitors, antifoaming agents, and pH adjusters can be used in combination as needed. These additives may be used alone or in combination of two or more.
To produce a water-based ink for writing instruments, the above-mentioned pigment and/or pigment dispersion, one or more colorants selected from dyes, water and/or an organic solvent, and a dispersant are thoroughly mixed and stirred in a dispersing machine such as a homomixer, and then other additives such as viscosity adjusters, pH adjusters, dyes for adjusting color tone, lubricants, etc. are mixed and further dissolved and mixed until homogeneous. However, depending on the case, there is no problem in dispersing the mixed ink further in a dispersing machine, or filtering or centrifuging the obtained ink to remove coarse particles and insoluble components.

3 and 4 are a front view and a longitudinal sectional view of a writing implement showing another embodiment of the present invention, and a drawing of a pen core used in the writing implement. In each embodiment from FIG. 3 onwards, the same components as those of the writing implement A and the pen core in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 are indicated by the same reference numerals, and the description thereof will be omitted.
As shown in Figures 3 and 4, the writing instrument B of this embodiment differs from the writing instrument A of the above embodiment in that the
