The present invention relates to a wheel measurement means that can automatically measure the position of the grinding surface of a wheel used in a grinding machine with high accuracy, and to a dressing system and grinding machine that use the same.
When replacing grinding wheels used in grinding machines, a dresser is used to dress the grinding surface and reshape it. The dressing coordinates for dressing can be set by a teaching operation in which an operator visually brings the wheel and dresser into contact. However, teaching operations involve visually checking the dressing point where the wheel and dresser come into contact, which can lead to safety concerns as the operator may have to enter the device. Furthermore, manual work not only takes time, but also requires a high level of skill to prevent collisions between the wheel and dresser.
The above problem occurs not only during dressing, but also when grinding of the workpiece begins. For this reason, in recent years, attempts have been made to automate the process by using a non-contact air sensor to detect the wheel diameter, eliminating the need for teaching. For example, in the automatic grinding devices described in
However, air sensors have a short measurement distance and are not suitable for measuring general grinding wheels, whose diameter changes greatly depending on the usage conditions. Specifically, when a general grinding wheel is replaced with a new one, the grinding wheel diameter changes greatly and is unknown, so in order to prevent interference between the wheel and the air injection nozzle, the initial position of the wheel needs to be set so that the grinding surface of the wheel is sufficiently far away from the air injection nozzle.
In this case, there was a concern that if the grinding wheel was brought closer to the air injection nozzle too quickly, the grinding wheel would overshoot and flow in, reducing measurement accuracy. Therefore, to detect the grinding wheel diameter of a normal grinding wheel with an air sensor, it was necessary to gradually bring the grinding wheel closer to the air injection nozzle from a position far enough away. This method took a very long time to complete the measurement, so detection of grinding wheel diameter using an air sensor was limited to super-abrasive wheels such as CBN wheels, which have little change in grinding wheel diameter.
The present invention aims to solve the above-mentioned problems of the conventional technology, and to provide a wheel measurement means that detects the position of the grinding surface of a wheel using a non-contact sensor with high accuracy but a short measurement distance, and that can be applied to general wheels, as well as a dressing system and grinding machine that use the same.
To achieve the above object, the wheel measuring means of the present invention is a wheel measuring means for use in a grinding machine, and is equipped with a non-contact first sensor that measures the position of the grinding surface of a wheel attached to the grinding machine, and a non-contact second sensor that measures the position of the grinding surface of the wheel, has a shorter measurement distance than the first sensor, and has higher measurement accuracy, and is characterized in that the first sensor and the second sensor make it possible to measure the position of the grinding surface of the wheel in two stages.
According to this configuration, the second sensor, which is highly accurate but has a short measurement distance, can be effectively utilized. Specifically, after measuring the position of the grinding surface of the grinding wheel with the first sensor, the feed speed of the grinding wheel can be increased to quickly move the grinding wheel to a position close to the opposing part of the second sensor (grinding surface) and not to interfere with said opposing part. After this, the position of the grinding surface of the grinding wheel can be measured with high accuracy using the second sensor. In other words, by using the wheel measuring means of the present invention, even if the diameter of the grinding wheel at the time of replacement is unknown, interference between the wheel and the opposing part of the second sensor with the grinding surface can be prevented, and the position of the grinding surface of the grinding wheel can be measured with high accuracy in a short time. Therefore, the present invention can be applied to dressing of general grinding wheels, which have large dimensional changes depending on the usage state. In addition, the present invention is effective not only when replacing the grinding wheel, but also when dressing during cold start in the case of machines with large thermal deformation such as large machines.
In the wheel measuring means of the present invention, it is preferable that the portions of the first sensor and the second sensor facing the detection surfaces and the dresser used to dress the wheel are integrated with the main body. With this configuration, the portions facing the detection surfaces of the sensors can be arranged in a portion of the main body close to the dresser, so that the positional relationship between the dresser and the facing portions is less likely to change even if thermal deformation or the like occurs. In addition, it is also easy to install the wheel measuring means of the present invention on existing equipment.
The dressing system of the present invention is a dressing system for dressing a wheel used in a grinding machine, the grinding machine being equipped with a dresser that performs the dressing, a wheel measuring means, and a control means, and the direction in which the facing distance between the wheel and the workpiece is adjusted by the relative movement is defined as the X-axis direction, and the direction perpendicular to the X-axis direction is defined as the Z-axis direction, the wheel measuring means is capable of moving relatively between the wheel and the wheel in the X-axis direction and the Z-axis direction, and a non-contact first sensor that measures the position of the grinding surface of the wheel attached to the grinding machine, and a second sensor that measures the position of the grinding surface of the wheel. , and a non-contact second sensor with a shorter measurement distance and higher measurement accuracy than the first sensor, and the position of the grinding surface of the wheel can be measured in two stages using the first sensor and the second sensor, and the control means measures the position of the grinding surface of the wheel with the first sensor facing the wheel, and then measures the position of the grinding surface of the wheel with the second sensor facing the wheel, and by the relative movement, the opposing distance between the second sensor and the wheel when measuring with the second sensor is shorter than the opposing distance between the first sensor and the wheel when measuring with the first sensor.
The dressing system of the present invention is equipped with a wheel measuring means having the same configuration as the wheel measuring means of the present invention. Therefore, even if the diameter of the wheel at the time of replacement is unknown, interference between the wheel and the portion of the second sensor that faces the grinding surface can be prevented, and the position of the grinding surface of the wheel can be measured with high accuracy in a short time.
In the dressing system of the present invention, it is preferable that the control means sets the coordinates of the wheel and the dresser at the start of the dressing based on the measurement of the position of the grinding surface of the wheel by the second sensor, causes the dresser to dress from the position of the coordinates, and after dressing, sets the X-axis coordinate system, which is the setting of the X-axis coordinate system that serves as the reference when machining the workpiece. With this configuration, a series of steps, such as setting the coordinates at the start of dressing, dressing, and setting the X-axis coordinate system that serves as the reference when machining the workpiece, are performed continuously, thereby shortening the operation time.
It is also preferable that any one of the three steps of setting the coordinates at the start of the dressing, performing the dressing, and setting the X-axis coordinate system can be selected, and that the selected step is performed and then terminated. By allowing such step selection, the worker's freedom of work is improved, and the worker's know-how can be utilized in the work.
Furthermore, since the grinding machine of the present invention is equipped with the dressing implementation system of each of the present inventions described above, even if the diameter of the grinding wheel at the time of replacement is unknown, interference between the wheel and the portion of the second sensor facing the grinding surface can be prevented, and the position of the grinding surface of the wheel can be measured with high accuracy in a short time.
The effects of the present invention are as described above. In summary, by using the wheel measuring means of the present invention, even if the diameter of the wheel at the time of replacement is unknown, interference between the wheel and the portion of the second sensor that faces the grinding surface can be prevented, and the position of the grinding surface of the wheel can be measured with high accuracy in a short time. The same effects can be obtained in dressing systems and grinding machines equipped with the wheel measuring means of the present invention.

As shown in FIG. 2, the wheel measuring means 10 is equipped with an

The grinding measuring means 10 shown in FIG. 2 is a

Figure 4 is a flowchart showing the steps in this embodiment from the initial setting to setting the X-axis coordinate that serves as the reference when machining the workpiece. Below, this embodiment will be described in order of steps according to this flowchart. At the start, the initial setting is performed only if necessary (

After the initial settings are complete, the wheel is replaced (

In FIG. 7, the distance between the grinding
As shown in FIG. 7, from the state where the distance between the grinding
Figure 8 shows the state in which the
The distance s3 determined by the
Meanwhile, since the X coordinate of the tip of the
The above describes the process up to setting the dress coordinates, but if the initial settings are performed and various procedures are set in the control means 60 in advance, no manual steps are required and the dress coordinates can be set automatically.
Once the dressing coordinates are set, the amount of movement until the grinding
The above describes the process from changing the grinding wheel to performing dressing. In this embodiment, the position of the grinding
In other words, according to this embodiment, even if the diameter of the
Next, the X-axis coordinate system setting (
In the coordinate system when the dress coordinates are set, the position of the
The above describes the steps of setting the dress coordinates, performing the dress, and setting the X-axis coordinate system. As mentioned above, once the initial settings are complete, these three steps can be automatically performed consecutively. After the initial settings, all three steps may be executed, or the process may end at any selected step. Figure 11 shows an example of the process selection screen. For ease of explanation, the selected steps are shaded in each diagram in Figure 11.
In FIG. 11(a), only the dress coordinates are selected, and in this case, the operation ends when the dress coordinate setting process is completed. In FIG. 11(b), the dress coordinates and dressing are selected, and the coordinate system is not selected. In this case, the operation ends when the dressing process is completed. In FIG. 11(c), the dress coordinates, dressing, and coordinate system are all selected, and the operation ends when the X-axis coordinate system setting process is completed. By enabling such process selection, the worker's freedom of work is improved, and the worker's know-how can be utilized in the work. For example, when the dress coordinates are selected, the dressing is not performed automatically, so the worker can proceed with the work by understanding the dressing situation while listening to the sound or checking the grinding
