Description
This relates to a demand forecasting system that uses past demand data to predict future demand.
Improving forecast accuracy is one of the major challenges in demand forecasting systems, and improving accuracy can have a variety of effects, such as reducing inventory costs, lowering the risk of stockouts, and reducing logistics costs. In recent years, when a shortage of logistics resources has become a social issue, the importance of improving forecast accuracy has increased, but many technologies for improving forecast accuracy have been devised even before that.
Some commercial products are shipped in small quantities on average, but large orders come in irregularly. Although there is a certain degree of periodicity in the timing of large orders, they do not occur at precisely equal intervals. Furthermore, since past performance values contain noise, even if sufficient past performance data has been accumulated, it is difficult to automatically and accurately predict the quantity and timing of future large orders based on those past performance data.
However, creating patterns for the allocation method reduces the accuracy of forecasts for products that do not fit into the patterns. To cover all patterns and achieve sufficient forecast accuracy, it is necessary to create allocation patterns by referencing the actual results of all products, but this poses the problem that it requires a workload equal to or greater than that of manually creating a demand plan for each product.
Therefore, it is desirable to be able to obtain valid prediction results using only automatic processing, without requiring any manual preparatory work such as patternization.
The present invention aims to provide a mechanism that can perform practical predictions for fluctuating demand where direct application of a predictive model is difficult.
The present invention is an information processing device which predicts a future predicted amount of a target item, and is characterized by comprising: a determination means for determining a cumulative number of periods; an acquisition means for acquiring a first actual value which is an actual value in one unit period of the target item for each successive unit period; a calculation means for calculating a cumulative value of the first actual value for unit periods for the most recent cumulative period number including the unit period as a second actual value for each of the successive unit periods; and a cumulative value output means for outputting a predicted value for each successive future unit period calculated based on the second actual value for each of the successive unit periods as a predicted amount of the target item, the cumulative value of the predicted amount for unit periods for the most recent cumulative period number including the future unit period.
The present invention makes it possible to provide a mechanism for carrying out practical predictions for fluctuating demand where the direct application of a predictive model is difficult.

Next, the processing executed by the information processing device in an embodiment of the present invention will be described using the flowcharts in Figures 3 and 4.
The flowchart in Figure 3 is a process in which the CPU 201 of the information processing device reads and executes a specific control program, and is a flowchart showing an example of a process for performing a demand forecast and confirming the results.
In step S301, the CPU 201 of the information processing device retrieves attribute information and prediction model information for each product using a screen input function and an interface function, and registers them in the
In step S302, the CPU 201 of the information processing device automatically predicts future demand based on the actual data for each product stored in the demand
Figure 4 is a flowchart showing an example of prediction execution in step S302.
In step S401, the CPU 201 of the information processing device converts actual data in units of one cycle (a cycle represents a time bucket such as a week or a month) stored in the demand
In step S402, the CPU 201 of the information processing device performs automatic prediction according to the parameter settings of the prediction
In step S403, the CPU 201 of the information processing device converts the prediction results calculated in step S402 for multiple cycles and stored in the
The timing of large-scale demand may actually be irregular and may not necessarily match the forecast results of step S302, so forecast errors may occur on a weekly basis. However, when viewed cumulatively over N cycles, demand is stable, so forecast accuracy can be ensured, and even if an error occurs in procurement volume, etc. based on the forecast value on a cycle-by-cycle basis, it is possible to cover it in the next cycle or later.

The prediction model master DB103 in FIG. 5(b) is a table that manages the prediction models used in the prediction execution in S302, and consists of items such as the prediction model ID, the prediction model name, the cumulative number of cycles N used in steps S401 and S403, and various parameters. The prediction model to be used can be specified for each product or product group, or the same model can be used for all products.
