Description
The present invention relates to a cover tape for packaging electronic components and an electronic component package. More specifically, the present invention relates to a cover tape for packaging electronic components and an electronic component package comprising the cover tape for packaging electronic components and a carrier tape.
2. Description of the Related Art When transporting, storing, etc. electronic components, carrier tapes and cover tapes are often used.
Specifically, electronic components (such as semiconductor chips) are first placed in recesses formed in the carrier tape, and then a cover tape is heat-sealed to the top surface of the carrier tape to encapsulate the electronic components, which are then wound up on a reel for transportation and storage.
Typically, the cover tape has two layers: a base layer and a sealant layer (heat seal layer). The sealant layer is a layer for heat sealing with the carrier tape.
As an example,
As another example, Patent Document 2 describes the formation of a sealant layer using a resin composition containing a block copolymer of a styrene-based hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene-based hydrocarbon, an ethylene-α-olefin random copolymer, a block copolymer of a styrene-based hydrocarbon and a conjugated diene-based hydrocarbon, and impact-resistant polystyrene.
Conventionally, when the cover tape is peeled off from the carrier tape, the cover tape may break.
Therefore, the present inventors have carried out studies with the aim of suppressing breakage of the cover tape when peeling the cover tape from the carrier tape.

For example, an "alkyl group" includes not only an alkyl group having no substituents (unsubstituted alkyl group) but also an alkyl group having a substituent (substituted alkyl group).
In this specification, the term "(meth)acrylic" refers to a concept that includes both acrylic and methacrylic. The same applies to similar terms such as "(meth)acrylate."
In this specification, unless otherwise specified, the term "organic group" refers to an atomic group obtained by removing one or more hydrogen atoms from an organic compound. For example, a "monovalent organic group" refers to an atomic group obtained by removing one hydrogen atom from any organic compound.
In this specification, the term "gf" refers to the unit of force "gram force." Additionally, the term "kgf" refers to the unit of force "kilogram force." Values expressed in these units can be converted to other units by multiplying them by the acceleration of gravity.
<Cover tape>
FIG. 1 is a diagram showing a schematic layer structure of a cover tape (cover tape 1) for packaging electronic components according to this embodiment.
The
The
In the
[Condition 1]
Sealing conditions:
Peeling conditions: The composite is peeled at a peel speed of 300 mm/min and a peel angle of 180° to measure the peel strength.
[Condition 2]
The same conditions as [Condition 1] except that the heat sealing temperature was 200°C.
The inventors decided to use a relatively "hard and durable" polyester for the base layer to make the cover tape less likely to break. In addition, the thickness of the base layer was set to a relatively large 10 to 30 μm. These measures ensure the "basic" strength of the cover tape.
The present inventors also considered that the breakage of the conventional cover tape may be related to unevenness in the adhesive strength between the carrier tape and the cover tape in some places.
Specifically, due to the presence of small irregularities on the carrier tape surface and fluctuations in heat sealing conditions (temperature, time, pressure, etc.), the seal strength is not necessarily constant throughout the heat-sealed portion, and there are uneven seal strengths in places (a mixture of areas with high and low seal strengths). This uneven seal strength is thought to have prevented smooth peeling when peeling the cover tape from the carrier tape, inducing breakage.
Therefore, the inventors of the present invention have considered that breakage can be suppressed by designing a cover tape whose seal strength does not change much even if the heat sealing conditions are changed, and have continued their research. Specifically, the cover tape and the carrier tape sheet "Clearen CST2401" (polystyrene type, single layer) manufactured by Denka Co., Ltd., which is a sheet material often used for carrier tapes, are set as design indices for (i) the seal strength when heat-sealed at a temperature of 160°C (the above F Low ) and (ii) the seal strength when heat-sealed at a temperature of 200°C (the above F High ).
The inventors then newly designed a cover tape with an F High /F Low value of 1.0 to 2.0, that is, a cover tape whose heat seal strength (peel strength) does not vary significantly between heat sealing at 160° C. and heat sealing at 200° C. As a result, they succeeded in making the cover tape less likely to tear when peeling off the cover tape that has been heat sealed to the carrier tape.
In order to manufacture a cover tape having a value of F High /F Low of 1.0 to 2.0, it is important to appropriately select the material and manufacturing method constituting the

Examples of inorganic particles include sulfide particles such as zinc sulfide, copper sulfide, cadmium sulfide, nickel sulfide, and palladium sulfide, metal oxides such as aluminum oxide, tin oxide, zinc oxide, indium oxide, and titanium oxide, and carbon fine particles. Metal oxides are preferred as inorganic particles because of their availability and ease of adjusting the peel strength.
The average particle size of the inorganic particles is preferably 10 to 1000 nm, and more preferably 50 to 500 nm. By selecting inorganic particles with an appropriate average particle size, it is easy to make the value of F High /F Low 1.0 to 2.0 while maintaining various performances.

(FHigh、FLow
(Additional explanation regarding F High , F Low , etc.)
In the
The value of F Low itself is preferably 5 to 80 gf, more preferably 10 to 70 gf, and even more preferably 20 to 60 gf. The value of F High itself is 1.0 to 2.0 times these numerical values. When the values of F Low and F High themselves are within appropriate ranges, the housed electronic components are appropriately protected, and the cover tape is easily peeled under normal cover tape peeling conditions.
Just to be clear, it should be explained that F Low and F High are "average values".
F Low is the "average value" of the peel strength obtained by [Condition 1] means that in the test of [Condition 1], the average (the sum of the peel strengths measured at regular intervals divided by the number of measurement points) of a graph plotting the measurement time t on the horizontal axis and the magnitude of the force F measured during peeling on the vertical axis is adopted as F Low . However, when calculating this average, the "rising portion" near t = 0 and the "falling portion" near t = the end of the measurement time in the graph are excluded.
Similarly, F High being the "average value" of the peel strength obtained under [Condition 2] means that in the test under [Condition 2], the average (the sum of the peel strengths measured at regular intervals divided by the number of measurement points) of a graph plotting the measurement time t on the horizontal axis and the magnitude of force F measured during peeling on the vertical axis is adopted as F High . In calculating this average, the "rising portion" near t = 0 and the "falling portion" near t = the end of the measurement time in the graph are also excluded.
From a viewpoint different from F Low and F High , in a graph in which the measurement time in the test under [Condition 1] is plotted on the horizontal axis and the magnitude of the force measured during peeling is plotted on the vertical axis, when the maximum value of the force magnitude is f max and the minimum value of the force magnitude is f min , the value of f max /f min is preferably 1 to 1.6, and more preferably 1 to 1.4.
In addition to the small variation in peel strength when the temperature changes (F High /F Low value is 1.0 to 2.0), the small variation in peel strength during a single peel at a constant temperature further prevents the cover tape from breaking.
Incidentally, the value of fmin itself is preferably 20 to 50 gf. And the value of fmax itself is preferably 1.0 to 1.4 times these numerical values. By appropriately designing the values of fmin itself and fmax itself, it is possible to obtain a cover tape that can adequately protect the housed electronic components and that is easy to peel under normal peeling conditions.

・装置:ISMECA MBM4000(テーピングマシン)
・シール時のアイロン形状:刃幅0.3mm/刃長54mm/刃間隔1.95mm(0.3mm×54mmのコテが、1.95mm間隔で2本並んでいる)
・シール圧力:4kgf/cm2
(Measurement under [Condition 1])
The cover tapes obtained in Examples 1 and 2 and Comparative Example 1 were each cut to a width of 5.5 mm.
The cut cover tape was heat-sealed to an 8 mm-wide sheet of "Clearen CST2401" carrier tape sheet manufactured by Denka Co., Ltd. (flat sheet used as carrier tape material) under the following conditions, thereby obtaining a composite for testing.
Equipment: ISMECA MBM4000 (taping machine)
・Iron shape when sealing: Blade width 0.3 mm / Blade length 54 mm / Blade spacing 1.95 mm (two 0.3 mm x 54 mm irons lined up at 1.95 mm intervals)
Sealing temperature: 160°C
Sealing time: 0.1 s
・Sealing pressure: 4 kgf/ cm2
・剥離装置:856VS(General Production Devices社製)
Using the obtained composite, the peel strength between the cover tape and the carrier tape was measured under the following conditions.
Peeling device: 856VS (manufactured by General Production Devices)
Peel speed: 300 mm/min
Peel angle: 180°
・Standard: JIS K 0806-3
In the above measurements, F Low , f max and f min were obtained from the relationship (graph) between measurement time and peel strength obtained from the peeling device. For F Low , the total peel strength measured 100 times (total 10 seconds) every 0.1 seconds was divided by 100, excluding the "rising portion" near t = 0 and the "falling portion" near t = the end of the measurement time in the graph.
(Measurement under [Condition 2])
The same measurement as that under [Condition 1] above was carried out except that the heat sealing temperature was changed to 200° C. Then, F High was calculated.
・剥離装置:856VS(General Production Devices社製)
(Evaluation: Tape break test)
The composite for testing obtained under the above [Condition 1] or [Condition 2] was peeled under the following high speed peeling conditions. The presence or absence of tape breakage during this process was confirmed.
Peeling device: 856VS (manufactured by General Production Devices)
Peel speed: 15,000 mm/min
Peel angle: 180°
・Standard: JIS K 806-3
The evaluation results are summarized in the table below.
As shown in the above table, in the evaluation of the cover tapes of Examples 1 to 3 (F High /F Low values being 1.0 to 2.0), no tape breakage occurred.
On the other hand, in the evaluation of the cover tapes of Comparative Examples 1 and 2 (F High /F Low value exceeding 2.0), the tape broke when the heat sealing condition was set at 200° C. This is presumably because the heat sealing at a relatively high temperature caused unevenness in the seal strength in some places, preventing smooth peeling.
