Description
The present invention relates to a display device and a head-up display.
Conventionally, a head-up display (HUD) is known as a display device that projects a two-dimensional image onto a projection target, and presents the projected image to the user. The projection target is often a non-planar shape, such as the windshield of a car. For this reason, when an image is projected onto a non-planar surface, a head-up display controller (HUDC) performs image mapping processing so that an undistorted image is presented to the user.
A known example of an HUDC is a circuit device as shown in Patent Document 1. In Patent Document 1, a circuit device (100) performs a predetermined mapping process on predetermined image data input to an interface (110), and outputs the image data after the mapping process from the interface (140).
However, Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2003-233633 does not disclose a configuration for preventing the user from being confused when a defect occurs in the input of image data itself.
Therefore, an object of the present disclosure is to provide a display device and a head-up display that address the above-mentioned problems and reduce the risk of dazzling the user even if a defect occurs in the image data itself.

[First embodiment]
<1-1. Description of the configuration>
A head-up display 1 (HUD, display device) projects a virtual image by projecting display light representing vehicle information onto, for example, a windshield (reflective and transmissive member) having a free-form curved surface shape with the front end of the vehicle tilted downward. The HUD 1 emits display light, for example, diagonally upward toward the rear of the vehicle. The display light emitted to the HUD 1 is reflected by the windshield. A user (for example, a passenger of the vehicle C) who sees the display light reflected by the windshield can see the projected virtual image as a display image floating behind the windshield.
The virtual image displays information that is highly necessary to alert the occupant (user), such as vehicle information such as speed and engine RPM, route guidance displays such as turn-by-turn and maps, and warning displays such as blind spot monitors and speed limit exceeding warnings. This provides a driving environment that reduces the need to move the viewpoint and adjust the focal length of the eyes. The virtual image includes the text and icons that indicate this information as well as the background, and when viewed from the occupant's plane, it appears, for example, rectangular.
LAN90は、CAN(Controller Area Network)や電力供給線、電気信号線等で構成される。
As shown in FIG. 1, the HUD 1 is connected to a local area network (LAN) 90. The
The operation unit SW converts the operation of a user, such as a vehicle occupant, into an electrical signal and transmits the operation information to the vehicle's electrical equipment. The operation unit SW includes, for example, an ignition switch. The operation state of the ignition switch corresponds to starting and stopping the vehicle's power, and the occupant can start and stop the vehicle's operation by operating the ignition switch.
The battery BAT is a power supply device that supplies power to various electrical equipment installed in the vehicle.
The HUD 1 includes a
The
The
デジタル映像信号の送受信方式には、LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling)など公知の方式を適用できる。
The warping
Here, warping refers to a type of mapping process. In head-up displays installed in vehicles, when the non-projection surface is a free-form surface, mapping is performed on the image data so that an undistorted image is presented to the user, and then the image is displayed on the display element.
The
The
光源の一例であるLED(Light Emitting Diode)37は、表示素子を照らす光源である。
The LED (Light Emitting Diode) 37, which is an example of a light source, is a light source that illuminates the display element. The
TFT (Thin Film Transistor) 39, which is an example of a display unit (display element), is a display element that emits display light when illuminated by
また表示素子としては、DMD(Digital Micro-mirror Device)やLCOS(Liquid cristal on silicon)、MEMS(Micro Electro Mechanical Systems)を用いた構成や、セグメントLCD(Liquid Cristal Display)を用いた構成など、照明光を空間変調し表示光とする公知の構成を適用可能である。 Although a configuration using LEDs and TFTs has been shown as the light source and display element, other configurations are also possible. The light source may be a laser, and the illumination method may be a field sequential method or a scanning method. As for the display element, it is possible to apply a known configuration in which illumination light is spatially modulated to produce display light, such as a configuration using a DMD (Digital Micro-mirror Device), LCOS (Liquid crystal on silicon), or MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems), or a configuration using a segment LCD (Liquid Crystal Display).
<1-2. Explanation of behavior>
The warping
The warping
However, if some kind of malfunction occurs in the
To prevent such a situation, in the HUD 1 of the present disclosure, the warping
The warping
The warping
In addition, since the clock signal is a high-speed signal that affects the operation of the entire device, it is preferable that the clock signal is connected in a manner that is not easily affected by noise, etc. However, there are cases where the mounting distance between the warping
In that case, it is preferable to design the circuit board layout so that the oscillator is mounted at a location closer to the warping
[Modification]
Although the display device and head-up display of the present invention have been described using the configuration of the above-mentioned embodiment as an example, the present invention is not limited to this, and it goes without saying that various improvements and changes in display are possible in other configurations as well without departing from the gist of the present invention.
