Description
The present invention relates to a gas barrier laminate.
In recent years, packaging materials used for packaging foods, pharmaceuticals, etc. have been developed to prevent deterioration of the contents, especially oxidation and deterioration of proteins and fats and oils in foods, and to maintain taste and freshness, as well as to maintain sterile conditions. In order to suppress deterioration of active ingredients and maintain efficacy for pharmaceutical products that require handling, it is necessary to prevent the effects of oxygen, water vapor, and other gases that permeate the packaging material that can degenerate the contents. It is required to have gas barrier properties that block these gases.
Therefore, a gas barrier laminate including a gas barrier layer containing an inorganic vapor-deposited layer or a water-soluble polymer has been commonly used as a packaging material with gas barrier properties.
In Patent Document 1, a vapor-deposited thin film layer is formed on a plastic base material, and a gas barrier layer is formed thereon to exhibit gas barrier properties. However, when biaxially oriented polypropylene, for example, is used as the plastic base material, there is a problem that gas barrier properties deteriorate when heat treatment such as boiling treatment or retort treatment is performed. In
The present invention has been made in view of the problems of the prior art described above, and even when a material with poor heat resistance, such as polyolefin containing biaxially oriented polypropylene, is used as the base material of the gas barrier laminate, boiling or retort An object of the present invention is to provide a gas barrier laminate that maintains excellent gas barrier properties even after treatment.
As a result of extensive research, the present inventors have discovered that by laminating layers containing a material containing a silicon atom-containing alkoxide or its hydrolyzate and polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof in a specific weight ratio, boiling can be achieved. The present inventors have discovered that excellent gas barrier properties are maintained even after retort treatment, and have completed the present invention. The present invention has the following aspects.
<1> On the base material, at least one layer (A) containing a metal oxide is laminated, and on top of that, a material (a) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof and polyvinyl alcohol or its modification. A layer (B) containing the substance (b) is laminated, and a layer (C) containing a material (c) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof and a polyvinyl alcohol or a modified substance thereof (d) is further layered thereon. The silicon atoms (a') after hydrolysis of (a) contained in the layer (B) and the resin content (b') of (b) contained in the layer (C) and the hydrated silicon atoms (c) contained in the layer (C) The gas barrier laminate is a gas barrier laminate in which the weight ratio of the silicon atoms (c') after decomposition and the resin component (d') of (d) satisfies the relational expression a'/b'≧c'/d'.
<2> The layer (B) contains a material (a) containing an alkoxide containing silicon atoms or a hydrolyzate thereof, and polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof (b), and the silicon atoms after hydrolysis of (a) ( The gas barrier laminate according to <1>, wherein the weight ratio (a'/b') of the resin content (b') of a') and (b) is in the range of 60/40 or more and 80/20 or less. It is the body.
<3> The layer (C) contains a material (c) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof, and a polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof (d), and the silicon atom after hydrolysis of (c) <1> or <2>, characterized in that the weight ratio (c'/d') of the resin content (d') of c') and (d) is in the range of 3/97 or more and 75/25 or less. This is the gas barrier laminate described above.
<4> The gas barrier laminate according to any one of <1> to <3>, wherein the layers (B) and (C) each have a thickness in the range of 0.1 μm or more and 1 μm or less. .
<5> The gas barrier laminate according to any one of <1> to <4>, wherein the base material is a polyolefin resin.
By making the gas barrier layer have a two-layer structure, the gas barrier property is much better than that of a single-layer gas barrier layer having the same thickness. In addition, when a layer containing a metal oxide is used as a vapor deposition layer, of the two gas barrier layers above the vapor deposition layer, the proportion of silicon atoms after hydrolysis in the outer gas barrier layer is By making the number smaller than (or the same as) the layer, stress is less likely to be applied to the layer containing a metal oxide as a vapor deposited layer, and therefore cracks are less likely to occur in the layer containing a metal oxide.
As described above, even when a base material with poor heat resistance is used, it is possible to provide a gas barrier laminate that maintains excellent gas barrier properties even after boiling or retort treatment.
FIG. 1 is a sectional view showing a gas barrier laminate (10) according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1, the gas barrier laminate (10) of the present invention has a layer (A) containing a metal oxide laminated on a base material (21), and an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrated layer thereof. A layer (B) containing a material (a) containing a decomposition product and a polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof (b) is laminated thereon, and a material (c) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof and polyvinyl A layer (C) containing alcohol or its modified substance (d) is laminated. Layer (B) and layer (C) are both gas barrier layers (22).
Examples of the material used as the base material (21) include polyethylene terephthalate, polyolefin (including biaxially oriented polyolefin), polybutylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate, nylon, polycarbonate, polypropylene, triacetylcellulose, cycloolefin, etc. , but not limited to these. In addition, when providing a sealant layer in the gas barrier laminate, it is preferable to use an environmentally friendly polyolefin resin in consideration of recyclability, and the base material is also made of polyolefin resin, which is a material of the same type as this sealant layer. By using this type of resin, a gas barrier laminate that is more environmentally friendly can be formed. Although the film thickness of the base material (21) is not a matter that imposes restrictions, it is desirable that it is a general film thickness of approximately 3 μm or more and 100 μm or less.
The base material (21) may contain additives such as an antistatic agent, an ultraviolet absorber, a plasticizer, and a slip agent, if necessary. Furthermore, the surface of the base material may be subjected to modification treatments such as corona treatment, flame treatment, plasma treatment, and adhesion-promoting treatment, or an anchor coat layer subjected to these treatments may be provided. Additionally, a flattening layer may be separately applied to reduce the unevenness of the base material.
Examples of coating agents for the anchor coat layer and flattening layer that can be provided on the base material (21) include acrylic resins, epoxy resins, acrylic urethane resins, polyester polyurethane resins, and polyether polyurethane resins. . Among these coating agents, acrylic urethane resins and polyester-based polyurethane resins are preferred from the viewpoint of heat resistance and interlayer adhesive strength.
At least one layer (A) containing a metal oxide is laminated on the base material (21). At least one layer (A) containing this metal oxide needs to be formed by vacuum deposition. In vacuum film formation, a physical vapor deposition method or a chemical vapor deposition method can be used. Examples of the physical vapor deposition method include, but are not limited to, a vacuum deposition method, a sputter deposition method, an ion plating method, and the like. Examples of the chemical vapor deposition method (CVD method) include, but are not limited to, a thermal CVD method, a plasma CVD method, a photoCVD method, and the like.
In particular, resistance heating vacuum evaporation, electron beam heating vacuum evaporation, induction heating vacuum evaporation, plasma chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), and the like are preferably used here.
As the metal oxide-containing layer (A) used in the present invention, a metal oxide layer called so-called silicon oxide or aluminum oxide can be used, but it may also contain nitrogen or aluminum atoms.
The layer (A) containing a metal oxide used in the present invention preferably has a thickness of 3 nm or more and 100 nm or less. If the film thickness is less than 3 nm, sufficient water vapor barrier performance cannot be obtained. Moreover, if the cured film thickness is greater than 100 nm, cracks will occur due to increased curing shrinkage, and the water vapor barrier property will deteriorate. Furthermore, costs increase due to an increase in the amount of materials used, a longer time for film formation, etc., which is unfavorable from an economic standpoint.
Layer (B) and layer (C) used in the present invention are each made of a coating agent based on a material containing polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof, and an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof. Examples of the material containing the hydrolyzate of the alkoxide containing silicon atoms include an aqueous solution and a water/alcohol mixed solution.
The gas barrier laminate (10) according to the present invention is produced by applying a solution of a mixture of polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof and an alkoxide containing a silicon atom either directly or through a treatment such as hydrolysis in advance to a substrate ( 21) Layer (B) and then layer (C) were coated on top of the metal oxide-containing layer (A) in this order and dried by heating. At this time, the silicon atoms (a') and the resin content of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (b) after hydrolysis of the material (a) containing the silicon atom-containing alkoxide or its hydrolyzate contained in the layer (B). (b') and the silicon atom (c') and polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (d) after hydrolysis of the material (c) containing the silicon atom-containing alkoxide or its hydrolyzate contained in the layer (C) The resin content (d') is characterized in that the weight ratio satisfies the relational expression a'/b'≧c'/d'.
For example, when a base material that shrinks due to heat, such as the above-mentioned environmentally friendly polyolefin resin, is used as the base material for the gas barrier laminate, the metal oxide that is the vapor deposited layer on the base material may be removed after boiling or retort treatment. Cracks are likely to occur in the containing layer (A). The reason why cracks occur in the metal oxide-containing layer (A) is that strong stress is applied to the metal oxide-containing layer (A) under the influence of the base material that has shrunk due to heat.
Therefore, as mentioned above, the ratio of silicon atoms after hydrolysis in each of the gas barrier layers of layer (B) and layer (C) is changed so that the ratio of silicon atoms after hydrolysis in the outer gas barrier layer (layer (C)) is higher than that in the inner gas barrier layer (layer (C)). By setting the hardness to be less than (or the same as) layer (B)), the hardness of the layer is the same or gradually becomes softer from the layer (A) containing the metal oxide outward, so boiling or retort processing is possible. The deformation of the metal oxide-containing layer (A) at the time is relaxed, stress is less likely to be applied to the metal oxide-containing layer (A), and as a result, cracks occur in the metal oxide-containing layer (A). It becomes difficult to do. Here, as shown in FIG. 1, with respect to the base material (21), the layer (A) side containing a metal oxide is defined as the outer side, and the opposite side thereof is defined as the inner side.
The layer (B) used in the present invention contains a material (a) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof and a polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof (b), and the silicon atom after the hydrolysis of (a). It is characterized in that the weight ratio (a'/b') of the resin content (b') of (a') and (b) is in the range of 60/40 or more and 80/20 or less. If it is less than the above lower limit, the layer becomes soft due to the high proportion of the resin content (b') of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (b), and the underlying layer (A) containing metal oxide cannot be protected and cracks occur. water vapor barrier properties decrease. When it is larger than the above upper limit, the proportion of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (b) is low, and sufficient oxygen barrier properties cannot be obtained. Further, it is more preferable that the weight ratio of the hydrolyzed silicon atoms (a') in (a) and the resin component (b') in (b) is in the range of 65/35 or more and 75/25 or less.
The layer (C) used in the present invention contains a material (c) containing an alkoxide containing a silicon atom or a hydrolyzate thereof and a polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof (d), and the silicon atom after the hydrolysis of (c). It is characterized in that the weight ratio (c'/d') of the resin content (d') of (c') and (d) is in the range of 3/97 or more and 75/25 or less. If it is less than the lower limit, water resistance decreases because the resin content (d') of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (d) is high. If it is larger than the above upper limit, sufficient oxygen barrier properties cannot be obtained because the proportion of the resin component (d') of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (d) is low. In addition, when the weight ratio (c'/d') of the silicon atoms (c') after hydrolysis in (c) and the resin content (d') in (d) is in the range of 3/97 or more and 25/75 or less, It is more preferable to maintain excellent gas barrier properties even after boiling treatment, and it is even more preferable for the weight ratio to be in the range of 5/95 or more and 20/80 or less, since excellent gas barrier properties can be maintained even after retort treatment.
In the present invention, the silicon atom-containing alkoxide used in the coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22) is a common alkoxide such as tetramethoxysilane [Si(OCH 3 ) 4 ] and tetraethoxysilane [Si(OC 2 H 5 ) 4 ]. It can be represented by the formula, R 1 -Si(OR 2 )n (R 1 , R 2 : alkyl group such as CH 3 or C 2 H 5 ). Moreover, among the above, tetraethoxysilane is preferable because it is relatively stable in an aqueous solvent after hydrolysis.
Furthermore, examples of polyvinyl alcohol or its modified product (b) include polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, starch, methylcellulose, carboxymethylcellulose, and sodium alginate. In particular, when polyvinyl alcohol is used as the coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22), the gas barrier properties are the best. The polyvinyl alcohol referred to here is generally obtained by saponifying polyvinyl acetate, and ranges from so-called partially saponified PVA, which has several tens of percent of acetic acid groups remaining, to fully saponified polyvinyl alcohol, which has only a few percent of acetic acid groups remaining. This includes, but is not particularly limited to. Furthermore, as a modified polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl alcohol with ethylene groups introduced thereto to maintain water solubility may be used.
The coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22) may contain a material containing a silicon atom-containing alkoxide or a hydrolyzate thereof, and polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof, and materials other than these may be added.
For example, other binders may be added to the coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22) to further improve gas barrier properties. However, since it contains polyvinyl alcohol or a modified product thereof, an aqueous material is preferred. Specific examples include water dispersions of polyacrylic acid, polyurethane, acrylic resins, and polyester resins, and metal oxides using metal precursors produced by the sol-gel method.
Further, a leveling agent, an antifoaming agent, an ultraviolet absorber, an antioxidant, a silane coupling agent, a metal chelating agent, and the like may be added to the coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22) as necessary.
A known method can be used to apply the coating agent in the gas barrier layer (22). Specifically, it is a wet film forming method using a gravure coater, dip coater, reverse coater, wire bar coater, die coater, etc.
The film thicknesses of layer (B) and layer (C) used in the present invention are each within a range of 0.1 μm or more and 1 μm or less. If it is less than the lower limit, the layer will be too thin to provide sufficient gas barrier properties. On the other hand, if it is thicker than the above upper limit, the layer is thick and the film curls, resulting in poor processing suitability.
Layer (B) and layer (C) used in the present invention are both gas barrier layers, but by stacking two gas barrier layers in this way, the gas barrier layer has better gas barrier properties than a single layer structure of the same thickness. is very good. In other words, when forming a gas barrier layer, even if there are coating dropouts or pinholes in the first layer coating, or even if the surface to be coated is poor in smoothness, the second layer will be applied. The whole becomes more uniform and stable, and the gas barrier properties become very good. Therefore, even when a base material with poor heat resistance, such as the above-mentioned environmentally friendly polyolefin resin, is used, excellent gas barrier properties can be maintained even after boiling or retort treatment.
Furthermore, on the gas barrier laminate (10) of the present invention, a heat-sealable thermoplastic resin layer and a printed layer can be laminated on the gas barrier layer (22) or the base material (21) as needed, thereby creating a packaging material. It is also possible to make a packaging material by laminating a plurality of resins via an adhesive layer.
Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above, the present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and any changes that do not depart from the gist of the present invention are included in the present invention.
Examples of the gas barrier laminate (10) of the present invention will be described in detail below. However, the gas barrier laminate (10) of the present invention is not limited to the embodiments shown in the examples.
