Description
The present invention relates to a sludge volume reduction device and a sludge volume reduction method.
In water treatment equipment that treats pollutant components in water, inflowing solid matter and especially excess sludge generated during water treatment processes that utilize the metabolism of living organisms are recovered. For example, sewage sludge generated during the sewage water treatment process is sometimes disposed of in landfills as industrial waste, and the amount thereof is said to be about 20% of all industrial waste. Therefore, there is a need for technology to reduce the volume of sludge generated from these water treatment processes.
Sludge volume reduction techniques include thickening, dewatering, anaerobic digestion, incineration, ozone and electrolysis, or reducing sludge production through the food chain. In addition, in recent years, it has become a national policy to not only treat sludge, but also to recycle the products after sludge treatment. For example, products after sludge treatment are recycled and used to make cement, compost (fertilizer), and solid fuel.
For example, Patent Document 1 describes a method for reducing the amount of sludge that is ultimately recovered by allowing microscopic animals to consume sludge generated in a water treatment process that utilizes the metabolism of living organisms. . After the final sludge treatment, the only way to recycle it is to use it for cement, fertilizer, etc. as usual. However, there are problems in that cement is affected by construction demand, and fertilizer is difficult to find a use for.
From this point of view, an object of the present invention is to provide a sludge treatment volume reduction device and a sludge volume reduction method that can more appropriately recycle and utilize the product after sludge treatment.

The sludge volume reduction method includes a sludge volume reduction section that reduces the volume of the sludge produced in the sewage treatment facility, and the sludge volume reduction section reduces the volume of the sludge produced in the sewage treatment facility. The sludge is provided with a heat exchanger for maintaining the temperature of the sludge volume reduction section at a predetermined level, and the insects are made to feed on the sludge by circulating the sludge through the sludge volume reduction section.
According to the present invention, it is possible to provide a sludge volume reduction device and a sludge volume reduction method that can more appropriately recycle and utilize products after sludge treatment. Problems, configurations, and effects other than those described above will be made clear by the description of the embodiments below.
Embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings as appropriate. The following explanations show specific examples of the contents of the present invention, and the present invention is not limited to these explanations. Changes and modifications are possible.
First, insects used in the sludge volume reduction device according to this embodiment will be explained. The insect used in the following embodiments will be explained using the butterfly fly as an example, but the insects that can be used in the sludge volume reduction device of this embodiment are not limited to the butterfly fly. For example, other insects may be used as long as they grow by eating sludge, such as midges.
The insect used in this embodiment is preferably a butterfly fly, which has a habit of feeding on components contained in sludge. Butterfly flies have a unique feeding habit, preferring to feed on organic matter contained in sludge. Therefore, the butterfly flies ingest sludge, digest and absorb it within their bodies, convert it into their own somatic cells, and grow. Some of the ingested organic matter is metabolized and excreted out of the system as carbon dioxide, but some is assimilated into the body cells of the organism. In other words, the volume of sludge can be reduced by allowing butterflies to feed on the sludge.
In addition, the body tissues of larvae of diptera such as butterflies have a high concentration of amino acids, and can be used as a valuable protein source when grown. Therefore, the grown insects have high value as feed, and can be used, for example, as chicken feed, pig feed, fish feed, etc. In other words, by supplying sludge to the butterfly flies, the flies eat the sludge as food. Insects that feed on the sludge grow as a valuable source of protein. Therefore, it is possible to reduce the volume of sludge and produce a protein source at the same time.
In addition, some species of Diptera insect larvae (such as the butterfly fly) spend time in sludge, but are known to move out of the sludge before pupating, taking advantage of this habit of insects. By doing so, sludge and butterflies can be separated without using energy. Therefore, grown insects and sludge can be easily separated. In addition, once a butterfly reaches its adult state, it develops indigestible tissues such as wings and legs, reducing its value as feed and making it difficult to collect. It is preferable to collect it.
Furthermore, sludge may contain pathogenic bacteria, pollutants, heavy metals, etc., and even if effective products can be recovered after sludge volume reduction, a process to remove them is required. However, by using butterflies to reduce the volume of sludge, the immune system, which is a biological defense system that prevents infection, not only prevents infection from various bacteria and pathogens, but also lyses these fungi. They secrete special substances (antibacterial peptides) for their own growth, and use the proteins obtained through bacterial lysis for their own growth. In other words, the fly's own immune system can render many pathogens and pollutants harmless. Furthermore, since it is difficult for butterflies to eat sludge that cannot be rendered harmless and contains heavy metals, etc., it is also possible for the flies themselves to naturally separate the sludge. Therefore, the collected fly larvae or pupae can be obtained as a highly safe protein source. Furthermore, sludge containing heavy metals and sludge not containing heavy metals can be separated at low cost.
Next, the sewage treatment equipment used in this embodiment will be explained with reference to FIG. The sewage treatment facility 1 includes, for example, a
The
In the
In the
Next, the configuration of the sludge
The sludge
In other words, the sludge
The
The sludge
The
Next, the
The
Insects taken out from the sludge
The
Finally, the collection of the butterfly flies is completed, and the sludge that cannot be completely disposed of is moved to the
The
Sewage water maintains a constant temperature (18 to 28 degrees Celsius) throughout the year, and has the characteristic of being warm in winter and cool in summer, with small temperature changes compared to outside air temperature. Therefore, by using sewage heat, the energy of this temperature difference can be used in a heat pump, etc. (heat exchanger 21), and the temperature of the sludge
Generally, the optimal temperature for growing insects is around 25 degrees, so in order to reduce the volume of sludge efficiently, it is necessary to maintain the temperature inside the sludge
撮影部22は、例えば、CMOS(Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor)イメージセンサやCCD(Charged-coupled devices)イメージセンサを備えるカメラである。
The photographing
The photographing
The growth cycle of small insects is very short, lasting only a few days. Therefore, changes in body length, weight, and metamorphosis per unit time are large, and by providing the photographing
Furthermore, as mentioned above, sludge may contain pathogenic bacteria, pollutants, heavy metals, etc. In that case, insects will not be able to grow because they will not be able to easily feed on the sludge. Therefore, if the insects do not grow according to the information from the photographing
That is, the sludge
According to the sludge
Moreover, by providing the
Furthermore, by providing the photographing
