Description
The present invention relates to a loose flange used to join pipes together, and particularly to a loose flange suitable for use when at least one of the pipes is made of resin.
Generally, a flange for joining with another pipe is provided at the end of a pipe such as a factory pipe. As a type of flange, many loose flanges that are loosely fitted onto a pipe are used (see
Conventionally, many pipes such as factory piping are made of metal, and stub ends and loose flanges are also generally made of metal. By making it metal, sufficient strength can be obtained against tightening torque.
On the other hand, in recent years, advances in resin synthesis technology have led to improvements in mechanical strength, weather resistance, chemical resistance, earthquake resistance, etc. In response to this, metal pipes are being replaced with resin pipes such as polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene in factory piping and the like.
As a result of intensive research and consideration, the inventors have found that when bolts are tightened with standard tightening torque (T series) using metal loose flanges to join resin pipes such as polyethylene, the torque decreases after a long period of time. However, it was discovered that there was a risk of water leakage occurring from the joints between the pipes.
The present invention has been made based on this knowledge, and an object of the present invention is to provide a loose flange that has excellent torque retention over a long period of time (for example, 30 years) even when used for joining resin pipes.
In order to solve the above problems, the present invention provides a loose flange used for joining pipes,
It is characterized in that it includes an annular core material made of metal and a coating layer covering the core material, and the coating layer contains a thermoplastic resin as a main component.
According to the loose flange, even when used for joining resin pipes, the required tightening torque can be maintained for a long period of time. This can prevent or suppress water leakage from occurring at the joints between the pipes.
The thickness of the coating layer is preferably 1 mm or more.
The thickness of the core material is preferably 3 mm or more.
It is preferable that the thermoplastic resin is a polyolefin resin, and that the coating layer contains reinforcing fibers in an amount of 10% by mass or more.
According to the present invention, a loose flange with excellent long-term torque retention can be provided. Even when used for joining resin pipes, the required torque can be maintained for a long period of time.
