Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to flavor-carrying components of tobacco products, tobacco products, and methods of manufacturing them.
As tobacco products containing a tobacco flavor source such as shredded tobacco, there are known flavor inhalers, in which the user enjoys the flavor by inhalation, and smokeless tobacco, in which the user enjoys the flavor by sucking the product directly into the nasal cavity or oral cavity. Flavor inhalers can be broadly classified into combustion type smoking systems, typified by conventional cigarettes, and non-combustion type smoking systems.
These tobacco products are required to provide users with a stable flavor over a period of use. However, when volatile flavor components such as menthol in these tobacco products are added to shredded tobacco in a solution state, the flavor components dissipate during long-term storage, resulting in the problem that the flavor effect does not last. . Various reports have been made so far to solve the problem of dissipation of fragrance ingredients that occurs during storage.
For example,

(Tobacco products)
In this specification, tobacco products include flavor inhalers, in which the user enjoys the flavor by inhalation, and smokeless tobacco, in which the user enjoys the flavor by puffing the product directly into the nasal cavity or oral cavity.
A flavor suction article is any suction article that includes a flavor source and allows a user to taste the flavor derived from the flavor source by suctioning. The flavor source included in the flavor suction article is preferably a tobacco flavor source. Flavor suction articles include, specifically, combustion type smoking articles that provide flavor to the user by burning a flavor source, and non-combustion heating type that provides flavor to the user by heating the flavor source without burning it. (heat-not-burn type) flavor suction articles.
Smokeless tobacco is a product that contains a flavor source, and the user can enjoy the flavor derived from the flavor source by directly inserting the product into the nasal cavity or oral cavity. The flavor source included in the smokeless tobacco is preferably a tobacco flavor source. Snuff and chewing tobacco are known as smokeless tobacco.
(Components of tobacco products)
A "constituent member of a tobacco product" is a base member for carrying a flavor composition. Therefore, in the following description, the component of the tobacco product is also referred to as a "base member."
The base member is, for example, tobacco filler. Tobacco filler is a tobacco material that functions as a tobacco flavor source in tobacco products. The tobacco filler is, for example, shredded tobacco, sheet tobacco, tobacco granules, or a combination thereof. Shredded tobacco refers to shredded tobacco leaves (dried tobacco leaves) that are ready to be incorporated into tobacco products. Sheet tobacco refers to a tobacco molded article or a cut product formed by forming a tobacco material such as leaf waste or shredded tobacco in a raw material factory or a manufacturing factory into a sheet shape. In addition, tobacco granules refer to tobacco molded bodies formed into granules from tobacco materials such as leaf waste and shredded tobacco produced at raw material factories and manufacturing plants.
In this specification, when the base member is a tobacco filler, the flavor-carrying component is referred to as a "flavor-carrying tobacco filler." Specifically, when the base member is shredded tobacco, the flavor-carrying component is called a "fragrance-carrying shredded tobacco", and when the base member is a sheet tobacco, the flavor-carrying component is called a "flavor-carrying sheet tobacco". , when the base member is a tobacco granule, the flavorant-carrying component is referred to as a "flavorant-carrying tobacco granule."
FIG. 1 shows an example of a flavoring component carrying component when sheet tobacco is used as the base member. FIG. 1 shows a flavor-carrying
Alternatively, the base member may be tobacco paper. Tobacco wrapping paper is wrapping paper for wrapping tobacco filler in flavor suction articles. In this specification, when the base member is tobacco wrapping paper, the flavoring material-carrying component is referred to as "flavoring material-carrying tobacco wrapping paper."
Alternatively, the base member may be a filter. Specifically, the base member may be the filter medium (eg, cellulose acetate fibers, paper, or film) that constitutes the filter, or it may be a plug wrapper wrapped around the filter medium.
Alternatively, the base member may be a substrate for flavor fillers. Flavor filler refers to a material in which flavor is supported on a substrate such as a film, granule, or metal foil, and is used as a flavor source together with tobacco filler in tobacco products. The base material of the flavor filler does not contain tobacco material and serves to carry the flavoring agent.
The flavor filler substrate is preferably a granular substrate. The granule base material may be either organic or inorganic. As the granule base material, for example, saccharide and/or polysaccharide granules can be used. Examples of the saccharide and/or polysaccharide granules include granules made of white sugar and starch, white sugar granules, granules made of lactose and crystalline cellulose, and D-mannitol granules. As the saccharide and/or polysaccharide granules, for example, granules commercially available under the trade name Nonpareil (Freund Sangyo, registered trademark) can be used. The average particle size of the granule base material is, for example, 100 to 900 μm. In this specification, when the base member is a granular base material, the perfume-carrying component is referred to as a "fragrance-carrying granule base material."
FIG. 2 shows an example of a fragrance-carrying component when a granule base material is used as the base material. FIG. 2 shows a fragrance-carrying
Alternatively, the flavor filler substrate is preferably a metal foil. The metal foil may be a thin plate made of a composite metal material or a single metal material, or it may be a metal foil composite made of a laminate of a metal material and another material (for example, paper or film). Examples of thin plates made of composite metal materials or single metal materials include aluminum foil plates, copper foil plates, iron foil plates, and aluminum alloy foil plates. Further examples of metal foil composites include laminates of aluminum foil and paper, ie, aluminum molded paper. As aluminum molded paper, aluminum laminated paper obtained by bonding aluminum foil to paper with an adhesive, and aluminum vapor-deposited paper obtained by vapor-depositing aluminum foil onto paper are known.
When metal foil is used as a base member, since the metal has high thermal conductivity, the flavor composition supported on the metal foil easily warms up when using the tobacco product (particularly when heating the flavor suction article). It is possible to promote the release of fragrances contained in products. In this specification, when the base member is a metal foil, the fragrance-carrying component is referred to as a "fragrance-carrying metal foil."
Alternatively, the flavor filler substrate may be a film. The film may be either organic or inorganic. The film may be a polymeric film, such as a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film. In addition, the composition and shape of the material are not particularly limited as long as it can support the fragrance composition, such as paper, sheets, and nonwoven fabrics.
(Fragrance composition)
The "fragrance composition" is supported on the base member and includes a perfume retaining agent and a perfume. The perfume composition can be formed by applying a liquid composition containing a perfume retaining agent, a perfume, and a solvent to a base member, and drying the base member to which the liquid composition has been applied. Accordingly, the perfume composition is a dry composition, ie, a solid composition, formed on the base member, which may also be referred to as a "perfume-bearing region." Note that drying may be performed until the liquid composition becomes visually solid, and the solvent may be completely removed or a portion may remain.
A "perfume retaining agent" is preferably a perfume retaining agent that is soluble in an organic solvent. In one embodiment, the flavor retaining agent is preferably a polysaccharide, more preferably a polysaccharide soluble in an organic solvent. In another embodiment, the flavor retaining agent is preferably a cellulose derivative, more preferably a cellulose derivative soluble in organic solvents. Here, the cellulose derivative refers to a derivative obtained by introducing a substituent to the OH group of cellulose, and examples thereof include ethyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, and hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (e.g., hydrophobized hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose). Further, cellulose derivatives are generally widely used as binders, film-forming agents, and gelling agents due to the complex effects brought about by their characteristic functional groups. Here, the organic solvent in the expression "soluble in an organic solvent..." is, for example, ethanol. When a flavor retention agent that is soluble in an organic solvent is used as the flavor retention agent, the solvent in the liquid composition is an organic solvent.
The cellulose derivative is preferably an amphiphilic cellulose derivative, more preferably hydroxypropyl cellulose. The degree of substitution of hydroxypropyl cellulose is, for example, 0.1 to 4.5, preferably 2.0 to 4.5. As used herein, the degree of substitution of hydroxypropylcellulose represents the number of hydroxypropyl groups per glucose. As the hydroxypropyl cellulose, for example, one commercially available from Nippon Soda Co., Ltd. under the trade name Cerny can be used.
The advantages of using hydroxypropylcellulose as a fragrance retention agent will be explained below. Hydroxypropylcellulose is a derivative of cellulose, and is a substance obtained by replacing the OH group of cellulose with a hydroxypropyl group. Hydroxypropylcellulose is widely used as a binder, film forming agent, and gelling agent. Cellulose is a hydrophobic substance because OH groups form hydrogen bonds between molecules and crystallize. On the other hand, since hydroxypropylcellulose has a hydroxypropyl group, hydrogen bonds are less likely to be formed between molecules, and it becomes a substance having both hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity (ie, an amphipathic substance).
Furthermore, it has been reported that hydroxypropylcellulose forms a network-structured complex in a system containing glycerin due to the interaction (hydrogen bond) between the hydroxypropyl groups of hydroxypropylcellulose and the OH groups of glycerin. Even when fragrances other than glycerin are used, hydroxypropylcellulose is thought to be able to form a network-structured complex through interaction with the fragrance (hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interaction, etc.). Furthermore, since hydroxypropylcellulose has amphipathic properties, it is thought that hydrophilic and hydrophobic fragrances can be incorporated into the network structure without using an emulsifier or the like. It is believed that this network-structured complex allows the flavor to be stably retained without volatilizing during storage of the tobacco product, and stably released when the tobacco product is used (particularly when heating the flavor-inhaling article). It will be done.
Furthermore, hydroxypropylcellulose is soluble in organic solvents, especially ethanol. Therefore, when a liquid composition containing hydroxypropylcellulose, a fragrance, and a solvent is made into an ethanol solution, the ethanol solution can have a lower viscosity than an aqueous solution, making it difficult to transport, coat, etc. during the manufacturing process. , has advantages over aqueous solutions. Additionally, when an ethanol solution is dried to form a fragrance composition (such as a film of hydroxypropyl cellulose), the solvent evaporates faster than when using an aqueous solution, reducing production time and energy costs during drying. There are other advantages as well.
A "fragrance" contained in a perfume composition is a substance that provides aroma or flavor. The fragrance may be a natural fragrance or a synthetic fragrance. The fragrance may be one type of fragrance or a mixture of multiple types of fragrance. The flavoring agent can be any flavoring agent commonly used in tobacco products, especially flavor inhalation articles. The perfume can be included in the perfume composition in an amount such that the perfume-carrying component can provide a desirable aroma or flavor. The perfume can be included in the perfume composition in an amount of, for example, 0.5 to 7000% by weight based on the perfume retaining agent.
The perfume is, for example, a liquid perfume or perfume ingredient-containing particles. Below, "liquid perfume" and "particles containing perfume component" will be explained in this order.
Liquid perfume refers to a perfume that is present in liquid form in a liquid composition that is used as a raw material to form a perfume composition.
The liquid perfume may be a liquid perfume consisting only of perfume components, or may be a liquid perfume composed of a solvent and a perfume component dissolved or dispersed in the solvent. Examples of the former liquid fragrance include glycerin, propylene glycol, 1,3-butanediol, and
The former liquid fragrance may exist as a liquid on the base member in the fragrance-carrying component, or may exist in a state in which it has soaked into the base member in the fragrance-carrying structural member. In the latter liquid fragrance, all of the solvent may be removed by volatilization in the fragrance-carrying component, or a portion of the solvent may remain in the fragrance-carrying component. If a portion of the solvent contained in the liquid perfume remains in the perfume-carrying component, the latter liquid perfume may be present as a liquid on the base member or in a state soaked into the base member. You may do so.
The liquid flavor can be any liquid flavor commonly used in combination with a tobacco flavor source in tobacco products, especially flavor inhalation articles. Liquid perfumes are, for example, polyols. Alternatively, the liquid perfume may be a combination of a polyol and a perfume other than a polyol. A polyol is a compound having multiple alcoholic hydroxy groups, and is also called a polyhydric alcohol. The polyol is, for example, glycerin, propylene glycol, 1,3-butanediol,
"Fragrances other than polyols" are typically substances that provide fragrance. The non-polyol perfume is preferably a liquid non-polyol perfume. The flavoring agent other than the polyol can be any flavoring agent (preferably a liquid flavoring agent) commonly used in tobacco products (especially flavoring articles), preferably as a tobacco flavor source in tobacco products (especially flavoring articles). Any perfume (preferably a liquid perfume) commonly used in combination with can be used. Examples of fragrances other than polyols include synthetic fragrances such as menthol, jasmonate, maltol, β-ionone, citral, ethyl butyrate, and undecalactone; essential oils such as mint oil, orange oil, styrax, and green tea extract; vanilla oleoresin, etc. oleoresins; plant extracts such as tobacco extract; or combinations thereof. The fragrance other than the polyol may be a natural fragrance or a synthetic fragrance. The fragrance other than the polyol may be one type of fragrance or a mixture of multiple types of fragrance. Flavors other than polyols can be included in the perfume composition in an amount such that the perfume-carrying component provides a desirable aroma or flavor. Perfumes other than polyols can be included in the perfume composition, for example, in an amount of 0.5 to 7000% by weight based on the perfume retaining agent.
"Particles containing flavor components" refer to any particles containing flavor components, such as crushed leaf tobacco or powdered flavor. The perfume ingredient-containing particles can be present in solid state both in the liquid composition used as a raw material to form the perfume composition and in the perfume composition.
"Tobacco ground product" is particles obtained by grinding leaf tobacco (i.e., dried tobacco leaves used as a tobacco flavor source in tobacco products). The crushed leaf tobacco can have an average particle size of 30 to 120 μm, for example. The pulverization can be performed using a known pulverizer, and may be dry pulverization or wet pulverization. Therefore, the leaf tobacco pulverized product can also be referred to as "leaf tobacco particles." In this specification, the average particle size is determined by a laser diffraction/scattering method, and refers to a value measured using a laser diffraction particle size distribution measuring device (for example, Horiba LA-950). The crushed leaf tobacco can be included in the flavor composition in an amount such that the flavor-carrying component can provide a desirable aroma or flavor. The crushed leaf tobacco may be included in the flavor composition in an amount of, for example, 0.5 to 7000% by mass based on the flavor retention agent.
A "powder perfume" is any powder containing a perfume ingredient. "Powder flavor" does not include crushed leaf tobacco. The powder fragrance may be a natural fragrance or a synthetic fragrance. The powder flavor may be one type of powder flavor or a mixture of multiple types of powder flavor. The powder flavor can be any powder flavor commonly used in tobacco products, especially flavor inhalation articles. The powder flavor may be, for example, cocoa, or a powder obtained by spray-drying a flavor dispersion and pulverizing it. Alternatively, powdered fragrances can be prepared by adsorbing the fragrance onto porous fine-grained calcium carbonate (e.g. Poacal-N from Shiroishi Calcium Co., Ltd.) or porous fine-grained activated carbon (e.g. Kuraray Coal from Kuraray Co., Ltd.). The obtained powder may also be used. The powder fragrance can have an average particle size of 7 to 80 μm, for example.
The powder perfume is present in the form of particles on the base member at the stage of the perfume-carrying component. Moreover, the powder fragrance is dispersed in the dispersion medium at the stage of the liquid composition (raw material of the fragrance composition) and is not dissolved in the dispersion medium. Powdered perfume can be included in the perfume composition in an amount such that the perfume-carrying component can provide a desirable aroma or flavor. The powder perfume can be included in the perfume composition in an amount of, for example, 0.5 to 7000% by weight based on the perfume retaining agent. Powder flavoring may be used in combination with ground tobacco.
When the perfume is "particles containing a perfume component", the perfume composition may further contain a liquid perfume in addition to the perfume retaining agent and the perfume component-containing particles. The liquid perfume is as described above. For example, the perfume composition may further contain a polyol in addition to the perfume retaining agent and the perfume ingredient-containing particles (eg, ground tobacco or powdered perfume).
The fragrance composition may be present in the form of a film on the surface of the base member so as to cover the entire surface of the base member, or may be present in the form of a film on the surface of the base member so as to cover a portion of the surface of the base member. It may exist above. Further, the fragrance composition may be present locally on the surface of the base member (that is, it may be present only on the surface of the base member and not permeate the base member), or All of them do not necessarily have to be present on the surface of the base member, and some of them may penetrate into the base member.

In this case, by adjusting the ratio of hydroxypropyl cellulose and polyol, the release timing of liquid fragrance other than polyol can be adjusted.
<2. Manufacturing method of fragrance-carrying component>
The above-mentioned "fragrance-carrying component for tobacco products" can be manufactured using a liquid composition that serves as a raw material for forming a perfume composition. That is, according to another aspect,
applying a liquid composition comprising a flavor retaining agent, a flavoring agent, and a solvent to a surface of a component of a tobacco product;
A method of manufacturing a flavor-bearing component of a tobacco product is provided, the method comprising drying the component to which the liquid composition has been applied to obtain a flavor-bearing component.
A "liquid composition" includes a perfume retaining agent, a perfume, and a solvent. The "fragrance retaining agent" and the "fragrance" are as described in the section of "1. Fragrance-carrying component." Preferably, the solvent is an organic solvent. By using an organic solvent as the solvent, the time for the drying process can be shortened, thereby allowing the perfume-carrying component to be produced in a short time. The organic solvent is, for example, ethanol. When the perfume is a liquid perfume, the solvent dissolves the perfume retaining agent and the solvent and liquid perfume are mixed. On the other hand, when the perfume is perfume component-containing particles, the solvent dissolves the perfume retaining agent, and the perfume component-containing particles are dispersed in the solvent. That is, when the perfume is perfume component-containing particles, the solvent plays the role of a dispersion medium in addition to the role of a solvent.
The composition of the liquid composition can be appropriately determined depending on the type of ingredients (for example, perfume) and the type of base member so that the perfume-carrying component can provide a desirable aroma and flavor. According to the Examples below, the liquid composition may be formulated, for example, to 100 mL of ethanol, about 15 to about 25 grams of hydroxypropyl cellulose, about 30 to about 60 grams of ground tobacco, and about 20 to about It can be 50 grams of glycerin. According to the examples described below, the content of ethanol in the liquid composition can be, for example, about 40 to about 70% by weight. According to the examples described below, the mass ratio of hydroxypropylcellulose to flavor (pulverized leaf tobacco and glycerin) in the liquid composition can be, for example, from about 1:2 to about 1:6.
First, a liquid composition is applied to the surface of a component of a tobacco product. The "constituent members of tobacco products" are as described in the section of "1. Flavor-carrying constituent members", and are also referred to as "base members" in the following description.
The method of applying the liquid composition to the base member is not particularly limited as long as the liquid composition can be applied uniformly to the base member. For example, the liquid composition may be added to or coated on the surface of the base member, the liquid composition may be sprayed onto the surface of the base member, or the base member may be immersed in the liquid composition. Alternatively, the liquid composition may be directly injected into the base member portion of the tobacco rod using an injector or the like.
When applying a liquid composition to shredded tobacco, the liquid composition may be added directly to the shredded tobacco surface using a transfer pump, sprayed onto the shredded tobacco using a nozzle atomizer, or applied to the shredded tobacco portion of the tobacco rod using an injector, etc. Methods such as direct injection can be adopted. Alternatively, the liquid composition may be applied to shredded tobacco by dipping the shredded tobacco into the liquid composition.
When applying a liquid composition to a sheet tobacco, methods such as extrusion addition to the surface of the sheet tobacco using a slit feeder, coating using a film applicator, etc. can be adopted. Alternatively, methods such as spraying and dipping can be employed following the same methods applied to shredded tobacco. If the sheet tobacco has been shredded, it is preferred to follow the same techniques as applied to shredded tobacco.
When applying a liquid composition to cigarette paper, as described above, a method of extrusion addition using a slit feeder, a method of coating with a film applicator, etc. can be adopted. Alternatively, methods such as spraying and dipping can be employed following the same methods applied to shredded tobacco.
When applying the liquid composition to tobacco granules or granule substrates, granule coating techniques can be used. For example, the liquid composition can be added directly to the surface of tobacco granules or granule substrates or sprayed onto tobacco granules or granule substrates by a nozzle atomizer, following the same approach as applied to shredded tobacco.
The amount of the liquid composition to be applied is appropriately determined depending on the composition of the liquid composition (types and amounts of ingredients) and the type of the base member so that the fragrance-carrying component can provide a desirable aroma and flavor. can do. According to the examples described below, when applying a liquid composition containing crushed leaf tobacco to sheet tobacco, the amount of the liquid composition applied is about 0.1 to about 2 grams per 100 cm of sheet tobacco. I can do it. According to the examples described below, when applying a liquid composition containing crushed leaf tobacco to a granule base material, the amount of the liquid composition applied is about 50 to about 150 parts by mass per 100 parts by mass of the granule base material. It can be done.
Next, the base member to which the liquid composition has been applied is dried. Drying may be carried out until the liquid composition becomes visually solid, and the solvent may be completely removed or a portion may remain. Drying can desirably be carried out until most of the solvent in the liquid composition has evaporated.
Drying may be performed by natural drying or heating drying. However, when heat drying is performed, it is preferable to set the heating conditions so that the flavor components in the liquid composition are not lost. For example, in the case of hot air drying, it is preferable to set the hot air temperature, hot air volume, cooling temperature, and cooling air volume for drying and cooling after heat drying so that the flavor component in the liquid composition is not lost.
The drying process forms the perfume composition on the base member, producing a perfume-carrying component. In the flavor-carrying component, all of the solvent contained in the liquid composition may be volatilized and removed, or in the flavor-carrying component, a portion of the solvent contained in the liquid composition may remain.
According to another aspect, there is provided a perfume-carrying component made by the method described above. According to yet another aspect, there is provided a method of manufacturing a tobacco product that includes manufacturing a tobacco product using a flavor-carrying component manufactured by the method described above.

That is, according to another aspect, a tobacco product is provided that includes the above-described "fragrance-carrying component."
The tobacco product of the present invention has the same structure as a conventional tobacco product, except that the components of the conventional tobacco product are replaced with the flavor-carrying components of the present invention. In a specific embodiment, the tobacco product of the present invention comprises the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying shredded tobacco", the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying sheet tobacco", the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying tobacco granules", the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying granule base material", It can contain at least one selected from the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying metal foil" and the above-mentioned "flavor-carrying cigarette paper." The tobacco product of the present invention may contain a combination of the above-mentioned "fragrance-carrying components". It may be included in combination.
The flavoring component can be incorporated into the tobacco product in any amount. The perfume-carrying component may be used in combination with a component that does not support a perfume, or may be used alone without being used in combination with a component that does not support a perfume. If the tobacco filler contained in one tobacco product is 100% by mass, the flavoring-carrying shredded tobacco, the flavoring-carrying sheet tobacco, the flavoring-carrying tobacco granules, the fragrance-carrying granule base material, and the fragrance-carrying metal foil are equal to the total tobacco filler. On the other hand, it can be blended in an amount of, for example, 20 to 100% by mass.

As mentioned above, a combustion type flavor suction article is a flavor suction article that provides flavor to a user by burning a flavor source. Furthermore, as described above, the non-combustion heating type flavor suction article is a flavor suction article that provides flavor to the user by heating the flavor source without burning it.
Examples of combustion-type flavor suction articles include cigarettes, pipes, kissels, cigars, and cigarillos.

Another example of a non-combustion heated flavor suction article will be described below with reference to FIGS. 6 to 8.
FIG. 6 is a perspective view showing an example of the appearance of a non-combustion heating type flavor suction article. FIG. 7 is an exploded view showing an example of a non-combustion heating type flavor suction article. The non-combustion heating type flavor suction article 30 (hereinafter simply referred to as the flavor suction article 30) is an electronic cigarette, a nebulizer, or the like, and generates an aerosol in response to the user's inhalation, and provides the aerosol to the user. Note that one continuous suction performed by the user is referred to as a "puff." Further, the
As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, the

FIG. 8 is a schematic diagram showing an example of the interior of the
The aerosol
The
The
The remaining

Propylene glycol corresponds to a liquid perfume with an octanol/water partition coefficient (Log P) of -1.4 and is an example of a hydrophilic perfume. Furthermore, menthol corresponds to a liquid fragrance, has an octanol/water partition coefficient (Log P) of 3.3, and is an example of a hydrophobic fragrance.
Hydroxypropylcellulose was dissolved in all solvents (a) to (d). These results show that hydroxypropylcellulose can be used both as a flavor retention agent for hydrophilic perfumes and as a flavor retention agent for hydrophobic perfumes.

[2] State of presence of flavor composition on sheet cigarette [2-1] State of presence of flavor composition on sheet cigarette (1)
In this example, a liquid fragrance was used as the fragrance.
Preparation liquid A consisting of a flavoring agent (cinnamyl alcohol) was applied to the surface of a sheet tobacco and left at room temperature of 22° C. for 6 hours. Thereby, a flavor composition was formed on the sheet tobacco.
On the other hand, a preparation solution B consisting of hydroxypropyl cellulose (Nippon Soda Co., Ltd.: Selny SSL, which has a degree of substitution of about 3.5 per glucose), ethanol, and flavor (cinnamyl alcohol) was applied to the surface of the sheet tobacco. It was applied and left at room temperature of 22°C for 6 hours. Thereby, a flavor composition was formed on the sheet tobacco.

FIG. 9 shows the appearance of the front and back surfaces of the sheet after 6 hours. In FIG. 9, "A" shows the case of preparation liquid A, and "B" shows the case of preparation liquid B.
In the case of preparation B, the perfume did not seep out (bleed through) on the back surface of the sheet, and a film (fragrance composition) was formed locally on the sheet surface. In the case of preparation B, ethanol was sufficiently removed after 6 hours, so it is considered that a complex of fragrance and hydroxypropyl cellulose was formed on the sheet surface. On the other hand, in the case of Preparation A, bleed-through of the flavoring agent was observed on the back side of the sheet cigarette.
In the detailed explanation of this application, it was stated that hydroxypropylcellulose is thought to form a network-structured complex through interaction with fragrance; this result indicates that the formation of a complex between hydroxypropylcellulose and fragrance is It is something that we support.

(result)
FIG. 10 shows the appearance of the front and back surfaces of the sheet after 18 hours. It was confirmed that brown solid matter peculiar to crushed leaf tobacco was present on the sheet surface. No change in color was observed on the back side of the sheet compared to the back side of the sheet before the slurry liquid was applied. These results showed that a powder fixing layer could be formed locally on the surface of the sheet cigarette (that is, the powder fixing layer was formed only on the sheet surface and not on the back surface of the sheet).

In this way, a flavor-carrying sheet tobacco (sample A) was prepared.
On the other hand, 1.900 g of a liquid mixture consisting of 94.44% by weight of ethanol and 5.56% by weight of glycerin was sprayed onto 0.800 g of sheet tobacco and left at room temperature of 22° C. for 18 hours to vaporize the ethanol. In this way, a flavor-carrying sheet tobacco (sample B) was prepared.
100(Evaluation method)
Samples A and B were cut into a size of approximately 5 cm x 0.2 cm. 0.2031 g and 0.2134 g of cut samples A and B were taken, respectively, and the loss on drying of the samples was measured using a halogen moisture meter HR83-P manufactured by Mettler Toledo at a heating temperature of 200° C. over a heating time of 900 seconds.
Drying loss (%) is expressed by the following formula.
Loss on drying (%) = {(weight lost by drying)/(initial weight of sample)} x 100
R(%)={1-(Lt/L900)}×100For both samples A and B, the drying loss almost stopped changing after the heating time of 900 seconds, so the drying end point was set at 900 seconds.
If the loss on drying at a heating time of 900 seconds (drying end point) is L900 (%), and the loss on drying at a heating time of t seconds is Lt (%), the residual rate R (%) of the components evaporated at 200°C is as follows: Calculated by the formula.
R (%) = {1-(Lt/L900)}×100
(result)
The results of "residual rate of components evaporated at 200°C" are shown in FIG. 11. In FIG. 11, the horizontal axis shows the heating time (seconds), and the vertical axis shows the residual rate of the components evaporated at 200°C.
From the results shown in FIG. 11, it can be seen that in sample A, the residual rate of evaporated components at 200° C. was significantly lower than in sample B at the initial stage of heating (period from the start of drying to 200 seconds of drying time). This indicates that a larger amount of glycerin evaporated in sample A than in sample B at the initial stage of heating. When a sheet cigarette is heated, the surface temperature first rises, and then the internal temperature gradually rises. Therefore, the fact that a larger amount of glycerin evaporated in sample A than in sample B at the initial stage of heating suggests that in sample A, glycerin exists locally on the surface of the sheet cigarette without penetrating into the sheet cigarette. It was done. This suggests that hydroxypropylcellulose forms a complex with glycerin and is localized only on the surface of the sheet tobacco.
In the detailed explanation of this application, it was stated that hydroxypropylcellulose is thought to form a network-structured complex through interaction with fragrance; this result indicates that the formation of a complex between hydroxypropylcellulose and fragrance is It is something that we support.
