Description
本出願は、米国特許法第119条(e)の下で、「THERAPEUTIC ELECTRON RADIATOR FOR CANCER TREATMENT」と題する2018年2月17日に出願された米国仮特許出願第62/631,734号に基づく優先権を主張する。当該出願の内容は、その全体が参照によって本願に組み込まれている。
Claims (12)
- 動物の体内(12)の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システムであって、
第1の物質(26)と、その外層の原子番号が大きい第2の物質(28)とを含み、中性子照射場(30)に曝されていないときは実質的に非放射性であるが、当該中性子照射場(30)に曝されると電離放射線の線源となり、身体(12)内の癌細胞(22)の近傍に定置される治療線源(10)と、
中性子場(30)を形成することにより、所定の期間にわたり体外から当該治療線源(10)を所与の強さ以上の中性子場(30)で照射する照射ステップを実行し、当該照射ステップを所定の間隔で繰り返すように構成されている少なくとも1つの電気式中性子発生器(32)とを含み、
当該第1の物質がホウ素10またはハフニウムを含むものであり、
当該第2の物質が白金、金またはそれらの組み合わせである、
限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。 - 中性子を実質的に透過させるが前記電離放射線の少なくとも一部を遮蔽する放射線遮蔽材が、前記治療線源(10)の前記癌細胞(22)とは反対側の面に形成されている、請求項1の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記放射線遮蔽材がアルミニウムより成る、請求項2の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記治療線源(10)は水に溶解せず、無毒である前記請求項のうちいずれか一項の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記少なくとも1つの電気式中性子発生器(32)は所望の中性子エネルギーに応じて前記身体(12)からの距離を変えられるように構成されている、前記請求項のうちいずれか一項の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記電気式中性子発生器装置(32)は、前記治療線源(10)に中性子をさまざまな角度から照射するために身体(12)の周囲に配置された複数の電気式中性子発生器(32)により構成されている、請求項5の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記治療線源(10)が発生する電離放射線を最適化するように中性子エネルギーを調節するために、前記少なくとも1つの電気式中性子発生器(32)と前記治療線源(10)との間に中性子減速材(16)をさらに含む、前記請求項のうちいずれか一項の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記中性子減速材(16)はD2OまたはCより成る、請求項7の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記治療線源(10)は厚さがミクロン単位の1つ以上の非常に薄いディスクまたはプレートにより構成され、その総合表面積が前記癌細胞(22)の周囲に定置されて前記中性子照射場(30)に曝されると、前記電離放射線が前記限局性癌細胞(22)の塊全体に影響を及ぼすに十分な大きさであることを特徴とする、請求項1の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記治療線源(10)の中性子照射に伴う生成物が放出するガンマ線の強度をガンマ線スペクトロメータ(18)により監視するとともに、当該中性子照射時の荷電粒子の生成速度を監視する、請求項1の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記第1の物質(26)がホウ素10を含むB4Cより成る、前記請求項のうちいずれか一項の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
- 前記第1の物質(26)がハフニウムより成る、前記請求項のうちいずれか一項の限局性癌細胞(22)の治療システム。
