Description
The present invention relates to electrochemical cells.

Description of the Related Art Button-shaped (hereinafter also coin-shaped and cylinder-shaped) electrochemical cells are known as electrochemical cells such as non-aqueous electrolyte secondary batteries and electric double layer capacitors. Button-shaped electrochemical cells are used as power sources for various devices. As one type of button-shaped electrochemical cell, a flat-type non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery as described in
In this way, the positive electrode case and the negative electrode case made of metal define the exterior body, and the electrode body is included in the storage portion of the exterior body together with the non-aqueous electrolyte.
However, when the sealing portion of the outer package is caulked, there is a problem that it is difficult to keep the sealing portion smaller than the housing portion as the size of the battery becomes smaller. For this reason, it is difficult to increase the capacity per unit volume of a small button-shaped battery, and from this point of view there is still room for improvement.
Based on this background, the applicant of the present application proposed an electrochemical cell described in

In this type of button-type electrochemical cell, a conductor pulled out from an electrode body provided inside is connected to a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate to constitute a positive electrode or negative electrode terminal.
The inventor of the present application has studied the details of the internal structure of this type of button-shaped electrochemical cell.
FIG. 6 shows the exterior body provided in the electrochemical cell described above, the general shape of the electrode body housed therein, and the positional relationship between the positive and negative electrode plates.
As shown in FIG. 6, the

By this pressurizing treatment, the positions of the members housed inside can be adjusted, the swelling of the
However, in the structure shown in FIG. 6, when pressure is applied from above and below, only the central portion of the
The present invention has been devised in view of the conventional circumstances described above, and it is an object of the present invention to provide an electrochemical cell that does not cause deterioration of characteristics by alleviating non-uniform pressure applied to the electrode body.
(1) In order to solve the above problems, an electrochemical cell according to one aspect of the present invention includes an exterior body composed of a first container and a second vessel, and a positive electrode and a negative electrode housed inside the exterior body. an electrode body composed of electrodes, through holes formed in the first container and the second container, electrode plates disposed inside the through holes via an insulating film, and a plan view shape of the electrode body The electrochemical cell has a circular shape in plan view in which the plan view shape of the electrode plate and the plan view shape of the insulating film are similar, the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body extends to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the insulating film, and the The outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate extends to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the insulating film, the insulating film is a sealant ring, and the ratio of the diameter of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the sealant ring is 2.2 times or more, The ratio of the diameter of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the through hole is 1.5 times or more .
In the electrochemical cell having the structure described above, an outer package is formed along the direction in which the insulating film, the positive electrode plate, the electrode body, the negative electrode plate, and the insulating film are laminated for the purpose of arranging the shape of the electrode body housed inside the outer package. Pressure may be applied from outside the body. In this case, the electrode assembly is sandwiched and pressed between the positive electrode plate and the negative electrode plate. Therefore, if the electrode plates sandwiching the electrode body are not in contact with the electrode body over a wide area, the pressure force will act unevenly on the electrode body. As a result, for example, liquid leakage may occur at the sealed portion due to deformation of the exterior body.
By extending the outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body, it is possible to apply a uniform pressure to the entire electrode body. can be prevented, and an electrochemical cell free from deterioration can be provided.
(2) In order to solve the above problems, an electrochemical cell according to one aspect of the present invention includes an exterior body configured from a first container and a second vessel, and a positive electrode and a negative electrode housed inside the exterior body. an electrode body composed of electrodes, through holes formed in the first container and the second container, electrode plates disposed inside the through holes via an insulating film, and a plan view shape of the electrode body The electrochemical cell has a circular shape in plan view in which the plan view shape of the electrode plate and the plan view shape of the insulating film are similar, the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body extends to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the insulating film, and the The outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate is arranged inside the outer peripheral portion of the insulating film, and the peripheral edge portion of the electrode plate is extended to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body, and the thickness is the same as that of the electrode plate. An auxiliary annular body is provided, a plan view shape of the combination of the electrode plate and the pressing auxiliary annular body is similar to a plan view shape of the electrode body, the insulating film is a sealant ring, and the sealant ring The ratio of the diameter of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the through hole is 2.2 times or more, and the ratio of the diameter of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the through hole is 1.5 times or more .
(3) In order to solve the above problems, in the electrochemical cell according to (1), it is preferable that the outer peripheral portion of the insulating film extends to the vicinity of the inner peripheral portion of the exterior body.
When a pressure is applied to shape the electrode body from the outside of the package, uneven pressure acts on the electrode body unless the electrode plates sandwiching the electrode body from above and below are in contact with the electrode body over a wide area. There is a risk.
Even if the outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate is arranged inside the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body, if a pressure-assisting annular body having the same thickness as the electrode plate is arranged on the outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate, the electrode plate A uniform pressure can be applied to the entire electrode body by the auxiliary pressurizing annular body.
Therefore, the distance between the electrodes can be made uniform over the entire electrode body, and the cell reaction can be made uniform, so that an electrochemical cell can be provided which does not cause rapid deterioration.
( 4 ) The electrochemical cell of the above aspect is characterized in that the electrode plate is made of a steel plate, an electrode terminal is attached to the electrode plate, and the electrode terminal is made of Ni or a Ni alloy.
According to this embodiment, since the electrode terminal made of Ni or Ni alloy is joined to the electrode plate made of the steel plate, it is difficult for a natural oxide film to form on the surface of the electrode terminal. Good contact can be made. Therefore, compared to the case where a natural oxide film is formed on the surface of the electrode terminal, it is possible to connect with the external terminal with lower contact resistance, and it is possible to suppress the occurrence of overvoltage, so the battery capacity does not decrease.
( 5 ) In the electrochemical cell of the above aspect, the first container and the second container have a laminate structure of a resin layer and a metal layer, and both the first container and the second container have a bottom wall portion and a peripheral wall portion. and a peripheral wall portion of the first container and a peripheral wall portion of the second container are overlapped and fused to form the exterior body.
In the electrochemical cell of the present embodiment, when the peripheral wall portion of the first container and the peripheral wall portion of the second container are overlapped and fused, the fused portion joining the containers is separated from the first container and the second container. Therefore, the inner volume of the exterior body composed of the first container and the second container is not narrowed by the presence of the fused portion. For this reason, it is easy to secure the internal volume of the exterior body even for a small button-shaped battery, and it is easy to secure the capacity per volume of the battery.
(6) In the electrochemical cell of the one aspect, the metal layer may be made of Al or an Al alloy .
A laminate structure of a resin layer and a metal layer made of Al or an Al alloy is excellent in liquid-tightness, airtightness, and light weight as an exterior body, and is excellent as an exterior body for a small electrochemical cell containing an electrolytic solution. .
According to this aspect, in the electrochemical cell, when a pressure is applied from the outside of the exterior body for the purpose of arranging the shape of the electrode body, the electrode plate extending to the vicinity of the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body can be applied to the entire electrode body. Since a uniform pressure can be applied to the electrodes, the intervals between the electrodes constituting the electrode body can be made uniform.
As a result, the distance between the electrodes can be made uniform in the electrode body, and the cell reaction can be made uniform, so that an electrochemical cell can be provided which does not cause rapid deterioration.
In addition, even if the outer peripheral portion of the electrode plate is arranged inside the outer peripheral portion of the electrode body, the electrode plate and the entire electrode body are combined with the electrode plate and the pressure-assisting annular body of the same thickness provided around the electrode plate. can be uniformly pressurized.
As a result, the distance between the electrodes can be made uniform in the electrode body, and the cell reaction can be made uniform, so that an electrochemical cell can be provided which does not cause rapid deterioration.

In the above-described embodiments, the electrochemical cell is basically circular in plan view. Various shapes such as a racetrack shape can be adopted, and the electrochemical cell of the present embodiment is not particularly limited in plan view shape.
When constructing an electrochemical cell that is not circular in plan view, the shape of the electrode plate and the pressure-assisting annular body should be adapted to the shape of the electrochemical cell in plan view.
For example, when constructing an electrochemical cell having a triangular shape in plan view, the electrode plates are triangular in plan view, and when constructing an electrochemical cell having an elliptical plan view, the electrode plates are also elliptical in plan view. Also in these cases, it is preferable that the planar view shape of the electrode plate is similar to the planar view shape of the electrode body.
Moreover, when combining the electrode plate and the pressure-assisting annular body, it is sufficient that the planar view shape of the combination thereof is similar to the planar view shape of the electrode body. In any case, the shape of the electrode plate and the shape of the pressure-assisting annular body may be adjusted so that the entire electrode body can be uniformly pressurized according to the planar view shape of the electrode body.
When the planar view shape of the electrode body and the planar view shape of the electrode plate are similar to each other, and the outer periphery of the electrode plate is arranged in the vicinity of the outer periphery of the electrode body over the entire periphery, the pressure during pressurization is applied to the entire electrode body. It can be applied evenly. Further, if the combined shape of the electrode plate and the pressurizing auxiliary annular body is made similar to the planar view shape of the electrode plate, and the outer periphery of the combined shape is arranged near the outer periphery of the electrode over the entire periphery, the pressurization can be achieved. The pressure can be uniformly applied to the entire electrode assembly.

"Prototype of electrochemical cell"
The cylindrical first container (outer diameter 15.1 mm) shown in FIG. A second container (outer diameter: 15.1 mm) was formed as shown in FIG. 7 or FIG. A sealant ring and an electrode plate were laminated inside the through-hole of the container No. 1, and were welded by heating to 175° C. while applying pressure to the laminated portion from above and below. A sealant ring and an electrode plate were also laminated and welded inside the through-hole of the second container.
The through-hole of the first container had an inner diameter of 5 mm, and the through-hole of the sealant ring had an inner diameter of 3.5 mm. An electrode body having an outer diameter of 14.2 mm was assumed to be housed in the first container and the second container. The through-hole of the second container had an inner diameter of 5 mm, and the through-hole of the sealant ring had an inner diameter of 3.5 mm.
As shown in Table 1 below, the diameter ratio of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the sealant ring or the diameter ratio of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the laminate through-hole is set, and these are used for the following electrochemical cell prototypes. board.
Using a first container and a second container, an electrolytic solution is injected between them, and as shown in FIGS. of electrochemical cells were assembled.
A load of 12.5 kg was applied so as to crush the container of this electrochemical cell in the thickness direction, and the presence or absence of leakage of the electrolytic solution was confirmed.
From the results shown in Table 1, if the diameter ratio of the electrode plate is 2.2 times or more with respect to the inner diameter of the sealant ring, and the electrode plate has a diameter ratio of 1.5 times or more with respect to the through hole of the outer package (laminate) , it was also found that leakage did not occur. In the example shown in Table 1, there is no liquid leakage when the diameter ratio of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the sealant ring is in the range of 2.2 to 3.1 times, and the diameter ratio of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the through hole is 1.5 times. There was no leakage in the range of ~2.2 times. Also, the maximum diameter of the electrode plate is preferably equal to the outer diameter of the sealant ring.
Therefore, in order to have a structure that can reliably prevent liquid leakage, the diameter ratio of the electrode plate to the inner diameter of the sealant ring is set to 2.5 times or more, and the diameter ratio to the through hole of the outer package (laminate) is set to 2.5 times or more. If the electrode plate is 1.8 times or more, it can be assumed that an electrochemical cell that does not cause liquid leakage can be reliably manufactured even if manufacturing variations and the like are taken into consideration.
