Description
The present invention relates to image forming apparatuses such as copiers, printers, facsimiles, or multi-function machines thereof, and fixing devices installed therein.
。 2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in a fixing device in an image forming apparatus such as a copier or a printer, a technique is widely known in which a cleaning member is installed so as to contact the surface of a fixing rotary body or a pressure rotary body to clean the surface. (See Patent Document 1, for example).
Specifically, in the fixing device disclosed in Patent Document 1, a pressure rotating body (pressure roller) is pressed against a fixing rotating body (fixing sleeve) to form a nip portion (fixing nip) through which a sheet is conveyed. ing. Then, the toner image on the sheet conveyed to the nip portion is fixed on the sheet by the heat received from the fixing rotary member and the pressure of the nip portion.
In Patent Document 1, the fixing device includes a cleaning roller (cleaning member) that moves in contact with and separates from the pressure rotating body, and a second cleaning roller that contacts the cleaning roller that has moved to a separated position. is set up. The cleaning roller cleans the surface of the pressure rotating body at the position in contact with the pressure rotating body, and is cleaned by the second cleaning roller at the position separated from the pressure rotating body. Further, when the cleaning roller is separated from the pressure rotating body, the cleaning roller is cooled to some extent.
In a conventional fixing device, when a cleaning member that comes into contact with the surface of the fixing rotator or pressure rotator and cleans adhering matter such as toner and paper dust reaches a certain high temperature, the fixing rotator or the pressure rotator may be damaged. Debris moved from the surface of the rotator to the surface of the cleaning member moves back to the surface of the fixing rotator or the pressure rotator and contaminates the surface.
On the other hand, in the fixing device disclosed in Patent Document 1, the cleaning member is cooled to some extent when the cleaning member is separated from the pressure rotating body, but the cooling efficiency is low. problems could not be sufficiently prevented.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made to solve the above-described problems.
The operation of the image forming apparatus during normal color image formation will be described below.
First, the document D is conveyed from the document platen by the conveying rollers of the document conveying section 3 and placed on the
Specifically, the
Image information for each color of yellow, magenta, cyan, and black is sent to the
On the other hand, the four
After that, the surfaces of the

Similarly, the laser beam corresponding to the magenta component is irradiated onto the surface of the

After that, the surfaces of the photoreceptor drums 11Y, 11M, 11C, and 11BK pass through the static elimination unit, and a series of image forming processes on the photoreceptor drums 11Y, 11M, 11C, and 11BK are completed.

Then, the sheet P onto which the full-color image has been transferred is guided to the fixing
After the fixing process, the sheet P is discharged as an output image to the outside of the apparatus main body 1 by a paper discharge roller, and a series of image forming processes is completed.
Next, the configuration and operation of the fixing
As shown in FIG. 2, the fixing
定着ローラ21の離型層は、PFA(4フッ化エチレンバーフルオロアルキルビニルエーテル共重合体樹脂)等で形成されている。

The elastic layer of the fixing

Note that the fixing

Hereinafter, the characteristic configuration and operation of the fixing device 20 (image forming apparatus 1) according to the present embodiment will be described in detail.
As described above with reference to FIG. A
A cleaning
Referring to FIGS. 2 and 3, cleaning
Specifically, in this embodiment, the cleaning roller is a roller member made of a metal material and rotatably held by the
Here, the
When the
That is, the
2 and 3, cooling
Specifically, in this embodiment, the cooling
Then, as shown in FIG. 3, the cleaning
Here, in the present embodiment, instead of keeping the cleaning
Therefore, it is necessary to quickly move the cleaning
Then, after the cleaning
Therefore, in the present embodiment, the heat capacity of the cooling roller 36 (cooling member) is set to be larger than the heat capacity of the cleaning roller 35 (cleaning member).
Specifically, in the present embodiment, the cooling
As a result, heat transfer from the cleaning
Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the thermal conductivity of the cooling roller 36 (cooling member) is set to be higher than that of the cleaning roller 35 (cleaning member).
Specifically, in this embodiment, the cooling
As a result, heat transfer from the cleaning
In this embodiment, the cleaning
Further, in the present embodiment, it is preferable to enhance the heat dissipation properties of the cooling
Specifically, in order to actively heat the cooling
As a result, the cleaning
Here, as described above, the cleaning
For example, when sheets P having a small size in the width direction (small size paper) are continuously passed, the normal size sheet P is affected by the excessive temperature rise in the non-sheet passing area of the
Therefore, it is preferable to directly detect the temperature of the cleaning
Specifically, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 4, the fixing
When the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 45 (contact temperature detection means) reaches or exceeds a predetermined value A (“dissolution temperature”), the cleaning
In this manner, the
ここで、温度センサ45は、図4に示すように、最大通紙領域M(通紙可能な最大サイズのシートPの幅方向の範囲である。)
Here, as shown in FIG. 4, the
Since the heat of the pressure roller 31 (and the fixing roller 21) is taken away by the sheet P in the sheet passing area, the temperature outside the maximum sheet passing area M tends to be the highest. The cleaning
It should be noted that the above-mentioned "dissolution temperature" varies depending on the toner used, the components of the paper dust, and the like. Therefore, the above-described predetermined value A can be set to an optimum value for each model using different toner, or the above-described predetermined value A can be varied according to the sheet P to be conveyed.
Further, in the present embodiment, the
When the temperature detected by the temperature sensor 45 (separated temperature detecting means) becomes equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature B, the moving means (driving motor) moves the cleaning
This predetermined temperature B is a temperature sufficiently lower than the previously described predetermined value A (“dissolution temperature”). This is the temperature at which reverse movement of the deposit from the cleaning
By performing such control, the cleaning
In the present embodiment, one
In addition, in the present embodiment, the phenomenon in which the adhered matter reversely moves from the cleaning
Specifically, even if the temperature of the cleaning
Here, in this embodiment, the cleaning
Specifically, as described above, when in contact with the
As a result, compared to the case where the cleaning
Further, in this embodiment, the cooling
Specifically, in this embodiment, the cooling

<変形例1>
