Description
The present invention relates to an exhaust gas purification catalyst and an exhaust gas purification system.
Conventionally, as a technology for reducing nitrogen oxides (hereinafter referred to as "NOx"), which are harmful components contained in the exhaust gas of internal combustion engines such as diesel engines, urea selective catalytic reduction that selectively reduces NOx has been used. SCR) catalytic systems have been used. The SCR system injects an aqueous urea solution into the exhaust passage to generate ammonia ( NH3 ), which is used to remove NOx in the exhaust gas. Many industrial diesel engines are equipped with the SCR system. This purifies NOx in the exhaust gas.
In the mechanism of NOx purification in the SCR system, droplets of the urea aqueous solution injected from the urea aqueous solution supply unit collide with the wall surface and become finer, or adhere to the wall surface and evaporate, and then thermally decompose (the following reaction formula (1 )), and by hydrolysis (reaction formula (2) below), it is diffused into the exhaust gas and supplied to the SCR catalyst while changing to NH 3 . Then, NH 3 and NOx react by the action of the SCR catalyst and are decomposed into nitrogen (N 2 ) and water (H 2 O) (reaction formula (3) below), thereby reducing the emission concentration of NOx. there is
(NH2)2CO → NH3+HNCO (1)
HNCO+H2O → NH3+CO2 (2)
2HN3+NO+NO2 → 2N2+3H2O (3)
( NH2 )2CO -> NH3 + HNCO (1)
HNCO+ H2O → NH3 + CO2 (2)
2HN3 + NO+NO2→2N2 + 3H2O (3)
If the supplied NH3 is insufficient for the NOx in the exhaust gas, the NOx slips the SCR catalyst and the NOx emissions increase. A stoichiometric excess of NH3 is often utilized in SCR systems to maximize NOx conversion. Therefore, it has been pointed out that excess unreacted NH 3 slips the SCR catalyst (hereinafter sometimes referred to as "ammonia slip") and causes secondary pollution such as new environmental pollution.
2NH3+3/2O2 → N2+3H2O (4)
In light of such ammonia slip problems, platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd) or rhodium (Rh), etc., is added downstream of the SCR catalyst in the SCR system to purify the slipped NH3 from the SCR catalyst. A technique for purifying slipped NH3 by oxidizing it as shown in the following reaction formula (4) is being studied by installing an ammonia oxidation (AMOX) catalyst in which a noble metal is supported on a base material such as alumina. (See, for example, Patent Document 1).
2NH3 + 3 / 2O2 → N2 + 3H2O (4)
2NH3+5/2O2 → 2NO+3H2O (5)
2NH3+7/2O2 → 2NO2+3H2O (6)
2NH3+2O2 → N2O+3H2O (7)
However, since the above-mentioned ammonia oxidation catalyst uses a noble metal component such as platinum with high oxidation performance as a catalytic active species, as in the following reaction formulas (5) to (7), NO , NO 2 , and N 2 O (hereinafter also referred to as secondary NOx).
2NH3 + 5/ 2O2 → 2NO + 3H2O (5)
2NH3 + 7/ 2O2 → 2NO2 + 3H2O (6)
2NH3 + 2O2 → N2O + 3H2O (7)
In order to suppress the generation of such secondary NOx, for example,
ASCs comprising an SCR catalyst layer (upper layer) and an NH3 oxidation catalyst layer (lower layer) on the same substrate are also disclosed in US Pat.
The above-described conventional technology has excellent NOx purification performance but insufficient ammonia slip suppression performance, or conversely, has excellent ammonia slip suppression performance but has insufficient NOx purification performance including secondary NOx. Therefore, the actual situation is that the NOx purification performance and the ammonia slip suppression performance have not been effectively improved in a well-balanced manner.
The present invention was developed in view of such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an exhaust gas purification catalyst and an exhaust gas purification system that are excellent in both NOx purification performance in exhaust gas and ammonia slip suppression performance.
6-8 show ASCs that are the same or similar to the ASCs disclosed in US Pat. Each of these is a cross-sectional view showing a part of the ASC, which has an NH 3 oxidation catalyst layer 300 (lower layer) and an SCR catalyst layer 200 (upper layer) on the
As a result of diligent research by the present inventors, it has been found that the

A first catalyst layer containing a NOx selective reduction (SCR) catalyst that reduces NOx is formed as the outermost surface layer on the partition walls of the
It should be noted that the layer structure is not limited to that shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, and the exhaust gas purifying catalyst may contain arbitrary layers as long as the effects of the present invention are not hindered. For example, any layer may be included between the first catalyst layer and the second catalyst layer, between the substrate and the second catalyst layer, on the surface of the first catalyst layer, or the like.

The second
The first
As described above, when the lower NH3 oxidation catalyst layer is completely covered by the upper SCR catalyst layer (see, eg, FIGS. 6 and 7), NH3 diffusion is suppressed at the surface layer. As a result, the contact between NH 3 and the NH 3 oxidation catalyst is inhibited, and the NH 3 oxidation function of the NH 3 oxidation catalyst layer is lowered, so that the desired ability to suppress ammonia slip cannot be obtained. Since the exhaust gas purifying catalyst according to the embodiment of the present invention has the
On the other hand, unlike the conventional ASC shown in FIG. 8, for example, the exhaust gas purifying catalyst according to the embodiment of the present invention has a second
In order to provide an exhaust gas purifying catalyst that is excellent in both the NOx purification performance in the exhaust gas and the ammonia slip suppression performance, it is important to effectively improve the NOx purification performance and the ammonia slip suppression performance in a well-balanced manner. For that purpose, the gap width G (%) and position are important factors. The width G (%) and position of the gap can be specified by the coat width L1 of the first SCR catalyst layer and the coat width L2 of the second SCR catalyst layer.

By setting the width G (%) of the gap and the position of the gap as described above, the NH3 not used in the NOx reduction reaction by the SCR catalyst in the front stage of the substrate is efficiently converted into N2 in the gap portion. The resulting secondary NOx can be efficiently converted to N2 in the subsequent second SCR catalyst layer.

The coat amounts of the first catalyst layer and the second catalyst layer are not particularly limited. In one example, the coating amount of the first catalyst layer (total of the first SCR catalyst layer and the second selective catalyst layer B) is preferably 60-200 g/L, more preferably 80-180 g/L. In one example, the coating amount of the second catalyst layer is preferably 85 to 170 g/L, more preferably 80 to 155 g/L.
As used herein, the term "coating amount" means the amount after volatile components such as solvent are removed from the slurry used to form the catalyst layer. That is, the amount of coating is not the amount of slurry applied onto the substrate, but the amount of the catalyst layer contained in the manufactured exhaust gas purifying catalyst.
[material]
・First catalyst layer The first SCR catalyst layer and the second SCR catalyst layer as the first catalyst layer are NOx selective reduction catalysts (hereinafter also referred to as "NOx reduction catalysts") that have the function of reducing NOx in the presence of NH3 . )including. Examples of such catalysts include zeolite catalysts and composite metal oxides.
Examples of zeolite catalysts include chabazite-type (CHA-type) zeolite, ferrierite-type zeolite, ZSM-5-type zeolite, β-type (BEA-type) zeolite, Y-type zeolite, mordenite-type zeolite, and SAPO-type zeolite. can be done. Mention may also be made of zeolites ion-exchanged with Fe and/or Cu. The composite metal oxide includes, for example, a composite metal oxide containing at least one of Ce, Zr, W, Y, Ti, Fe, Cu and V, more specifically, an oxide composed of Fe, Ti and W. materials, Ce—Zr composite oxides, and the like. Rh etc. can also be mentioned as another NOx reduction catalyst. These NOx reduction catalysts may be used singly or in combination of two or more.
Specific examples of the NOx reduction catalyst that can be used in the first catalyst layer include Cu—CHA type zeolite, Fe—BEA type zeolite, Fe—ZSM5 type zeolite, and Fe—TiW composite oxides. One or two or more selected from can be used. From the viewpoint of NOx purification performance, it is preferable to use Cu-CHA type zeolite as the NOx reduction catalyst.
Also, from the viewpoint of the difference in arrangement between the first SCR catalyst layer and the second SCR catalyst layer, which is the front stage or the rear stage of the base material, the NOx reduction catalyst used in the first SCR catalyst layer in the front stage is used in the second SCR catalyst layer in the rear stage. It is preferable to use catalysts with higher NH3 adsorption than NOx reduction catalysts. An SCR catalyst layer with a large amount of NH3 adsorption has a high NOx purification function, but there is a high possibility that NH3 will be discharged to the rear stage during acceleration. Therefore, by arranging an SCR catalyst layer with a large amount of NH 3 adsorption in front of the gap where the NH 3 oxidation catalyst with strong NH 3 oxidizing power is exposed, NH 3 desorbed during acceleration is oxidized in the gap and NH 3 can be suppressed. Thus, from the viewpoint of NOx purification and NH3 oxidation, it is preferable to dispose the NOx reduction catalyst with a large amount of NH3 adsorption in the first SCR catalyst layer. An example of the NOx reduction catalyst with a large amount of NH 3 adsorption is CHA-type zeolite with a SAR (Silica Alumina ratio) of 15 or less.
Also, the first SCR catalyst layer and the second SCR catalyst layer may further contain other components in addition to the NOx reduction catalyst described above.
In one form, the first SCR catalyst layer and the second SCR catalyst layer may further contain a catalyst having a function of suppressing generation of N 2 O in addition to the NOx reduction catalyst described above. Such a catalyst is preferably contained particularly in the latter second SCR catalyst layer for the following reasons. That is, N 2 O is produced as a by-product of the NH 3 oxidation reaction and as a by-product of the NH 3 -SCR reaction. Therefore, it is more effective to use a catalyst capable of suppressing N 2 O in the second SCR catalyst layer in the downstream region with respect to the gap portion.
Examples of catalysts having a function of suppressing N 2 O include Ni, Co, Fe, Rh, Ru, Ce, Mn, spinel, and the like.
The first catalyst layer reduces NOx in the presence of NH3 as described above. Therefore, if the first catalyst layer contains an NH3 oxidation catalyst having a function of oxidizing NH3 , NH3 will be oxidized, making it difficult to reduce NOx. Therefore, it is preferred that the first catalyst layer contains substantially no NH3 oxidation catalyst.
- Second catalyst layer The second catalyst layer is a catalyst layer having an ability to suppress ammonia slip, and contains an NH3 oxidation catalyst having a function of oxidizing NH3 . Examples of such catalysts include platinum group metals (PGM) such as Pt, Pd, Ru and Ir. It is also preferable to use a Pt/Pd alloy from the viewpoint of heat resistance. The NH 3 oxidation catalyst may be supported on metal oxides (eg, Al 2 O 3 , ZrO 2 , CeO 2 , Ce—Zr composite oxides, etc.), zeolites, Fe ion-exchanged zeolites, Cu ion-exchanged zeolites, and the like. good. These NH3 oxidation catalysts may be used singly or in combination of two or more.
The second catalyst layer may further contain other components in addition to the NH3 oxidation catalyst described above. In one form, the second catalyst layer may further contain a NOx reduction catalyst. The NOx reduction catalysts that may be included include catalysts similar to the NOx reduction catalysts described above.

<評価>
<Evaluation>
The performance of catalysts ASC1-13 was investigated by the following method.
[Measurement of NH3 emissions]
NH 3 emissions were evaluated using a simulated gas evaluator (model gas). NO = 70 ppm, NH 3 = 140 ppm, O 2 = 10%, H 2 O = 5% as a simulated gas composition; catalyst gas concentration is adjusted so that N 2 becomes a balance gas (SV = 60,000/hr) . This mixed gas is heated in an infrared furnace or the like, and the catalyst inflow temperature is adjusted to 200°C. The NH 3 concentration was measured when the concentrations of NOx and NH 3 stabilized, and this was taken as the NH 3 emission amount.

[Measurement of NOx emissions]
NOx emissions were evaluated using a simulated gas evaluation device (model gas). The NOx concentration was measured when the concentrations of NOx and NH3 stabilized, and this was taken as the amount of NOx emissions.
Table 1 shows the results.
