Description
The present invention relates to fixing devices and image forming apparatuses.
In image forming devices such as copiers, printers, and facsimiles, images are formed by image forming processes such as electrophotographic recording, electrostatic recording, and magnetic recording. It is formed on recording materials such as printing paper, photosensitive paper, and electrostatic recording paper. As a fixing device for fixing an unfixed toner image on a recording material, the toner image formed on the recording material is heated and pressed at a nip portion between an endless fixing belt and a pressure roller to perform fixing processing. configuration is known.
As a fixing device having a rotating belt (regardless of whether it is an image side or a non-image side), a nip forming member is provided inside the belt, and the belt and the nip forming member slide while forming a nip with an opposing pressure roller. Configurations are known to move. In order to reduce the sliding resistance between the belt and the nip forming member, there is also known a configuration in which grease or silicon oil is applied as a lubricant between them and the belt and the nip forming member are slid and rotated while being held.
This lubricant cannot be heated directly at the start of fixing and has a large sliding resistance in a low temperature state. Therefore, it is necessary to select a material that has a low viscosity (dry) even at a low temperature. However, if the high temperature continues, such as during continuous image formation, the lubricant whose viscosity has further decreased may leak from the end of the belt due to the pressure of the pressure roller. The leaked lubricant stains the belt surface or adheres to the surface of the paper being fed. In addition, there is also a problem that it slips between the pressurizing roller and the like.
On the other hand, Japanese Laid-Open Patent Publication No. 2002-100002 discloses a configuration (FIG. 7) in which excess lubricant leaked from the end of the belt is scraped by a scraper 28 integrally provided with a
However, the configuration of Patent Document 1 ( FIG. 7 ) does not have a configuration for absorbing (recovering) excess lubricant scraped off by the scraper 28 , so the scraper 28 tends to accumulate lubricant. Further, between the scraper 28 and the belt, scratches on the surface of the belt or scratches on the contact surface of the scraper tend to create a minute gap, and the lubricant may slip through this gap.
Patent Literature 1 also describes providing an adsorbent (such as felt) in the recessed portion 28 (see FIG. 8). However, since this adsorbent cannot recover the lubricant that has slipped through, there is still a possibility that the lubricant will get inside the belt.
On the other hand, in the configuration using the roller member 47 (FIG. 10), the
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION Accordingly, it is an object of the present invention to provide a fixing device capable of maintaining the gap between the separation plates and recovering the leaked surplus lubricant.
The above-described problems are to be solved by: a fixing member having flexibility; a pressure member in contact with the outer peripheral surface of the fixing member; a heat source provided inside the fixing member for heating the fixing member; a nip forming member that forms a fixing nip between the fixing member and the pressure member; and a nip forming member that is provided on an exit side of the fixing nip in the recording material conveying direction and separates the recording material from the fixing member. a separation plate , the separation plate having positioning portions provided at both ends outside the maximum width of the recording material to be fixed, and positioning the separation plate by coming into contact with the fixing member; elastically deformable elastic absorbers for absorbing lubricant are provided integrally with the separation plate at both ends outside the maximum width of the recording material to be fixed, wherein the separation plate has notches formed at both ends outside the maximum width of the recording material to be fixed, and the elastic absorber contacts the fixing member via the notches; The notch is solved by a fixing device characterized in that it is formed inside the positioning part in the longitudinal direction .
In the fixing device of the present invention, the positioning portion maintains the gap between the separation plates, and the elastic absorber in contact with the fixing member collects the leaked surplus lubricant. Therefore, the fixed recording material can be separated satisfactorily, and the leaked lubricant can be reliably prevented from spreading inward in the longitudinal direction of the fixing member.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described based on the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 is a schematic diagram showing an image forming apparatus according to one embodiment of the present invention. This image forming apparatus 1 is a color laser printer, and four

A bottle housing portion 2 is provided in the upper portion of the printer main body, and four
On the other hand, a
In the main body of the printer, a transport path R is provided for discharging the paper P from the
A
The basic operation of the printer according to this embodiment is as follows. When the image forming operation is started, each photoreceptor 5 in each
Further, when the image forming operation is started, the secondary
Thereafter, as each photoreceptor 5 rotates, when the toner image of each color on the photoreceptor 5 reaches the primary transfer nip, the toner image on each photoreceptor 5 is transferred by the transfer electric field formed at the primary transfer nip. The images are sequentially superimposed and transferred onto the
In the lower part of the image forming apparatus 1 , the paper feed roller 11 starts to rotate, and the paper P is fed from the
Thereafter, as the
After that, the paper P is conveyed to the fixing
The above description is for the image forming operation when forming a full-color image on the paper P. However, any one of the four
FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional configuration diagram of a fixing device according to one embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, the fixing
Inside the fixing
The
Both longitudinal ends of the
A heat
Therefore, the heat
As is well known, a
In order to reduce the heat capacity, the endless fixing
If the thickness of the elastic layer is about 100 μm, the elastic deformation of the elastic layer when the unfixed toner is crushed and fixed can absorb minute irregularities on the belt surface, and the occurrence of uneven gloss can be avoided. From the viewpoint of low heat capacity, the fixing
In order to further reduce the heat capacity, the thickness of the entire fixing
The
The
Further, reflecting
The
The
Although the
Next, the characteristic configuration of the present invention will be described.
FIG. 3 is a perspective view (Part 1) showing the configuration of the separation plate, fixing belt, and pressure roller according to one embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 3, the same reference numerals are assigned to the same components as in FIG. 2, and detailed description thereof will be omitted. Also, for convenience of explanation, one end will be described, but the other end may also have a similar configuration.
As shown in FIG. 3, the
A
FIG. 4 is a side view of FIG. 3 for explaining the positional relationship between the fixing belt and the positioning portion. As shown in FIG. 4, the

Returning to FIG. 3, the description is continued. Further, the
The
The
FIG. 5 is an enlarged side view of FIG. 3 for explaining the positional relationship between the fixing belt and the elastic absorber. As shown in FIG. 5, at least a part of the surface of the
In the fixing
Here, it is assumed that the high temperature state of the apparatus continues due to continuous feeding of paper, and the lubricant with reduced viscosity leaks from the end of the fixing
On the other hand, the lubricant that is not scraped off further spreads inward in the width direction of the fixing
Further, the biasing means compresses the
Even after the lubricant is scraped off, the lubricant remains very thinly on the contact surface of the
Thus, the fixing
It also has the following advantages: In general, the scraper (separation plate 41) and the belt tend to have a minute gap between them due to scratches on the contact surface of the scraper and scratches on the belt surface layer. In contrast, in the fixing
FIG. 6 is a perspective view (Part 2) showing the configuration of the separation plate, fixing belt, and pressure roller according to one embodiment of the present invention. In FIG. 6, the same reference numerals are given to the same parts as in FIG. 3, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.
The installation location of the
Since the
7(a) is a perspective view of a separation member and an elastic absorber showing a modification of FIG. 3, and FIG. 7(b) is a perspective view of a separation member and an elastic absorber showing a modification of FIG. In FIG. 7, the same reference numerals are assigned to the same parts as in FIGS. 3 and 6, and detailed description thereof will be omitted.
