Description
TECHNICAL FIELD The present invention relates to a steering boot mainly used in automobiles.
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, a steering device for an automobile has a flexible boot mounted between a tie rod and a steering rack housing for protection from external water, dust, and the like. This steering boot is generally composed of an elastically deformable bellows portion, a small-diameter annular attachment portion attached to a tie rod, and a large-diameter annular attachment portion attached to a steering rack housing. The steering boot is fixed by tightening the outer peripheral surface of these annular mounting portions with a band.
In order to fix the tie rod at a predetermined position, the steering boot is used so that the annular protrusion provided on the inner peripheral surface of the small-diameter annular mounting portion is fitted into the annular groove provided on the outer peripheral surface of the tie rod in the circumferential direction. there is
By the way, it is technically and costly difficult to mechanically fit the annular projection of the steering boot into the annular groove of the tie rod, and the current situation is that it has to be done manually. Therefore, when the small-diameter annular mounting portion of the steering boot is attached to the tie rod, a large load is applied, and the annular protrusion exceeds the annular groove of the tie rod. was difficult.
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem,
Further,
The boots disclosed in
However, in the boot of

The present invention provides a steering boot capable of achieving cost reduction while ensuring sealability, wearability, prevention of misalignment after fastening the band, visibility of the wearing state, and distinguishability in appearance. for the purpose.
As a result of diligent research, the inventors of the present invention arrived at the following technical idea and solved the above-mentioned problems.
A steering boot according to the present invention includes a small-diameter annular mounting portion, a bellows portion, and a large-diameter annular mounting portion. A boot band fastening region is provided, and an inner annular projection is formed in a circumferential direction on a part of the inner peripheral surface of the small diameter annular mounting portion of the boot band fastening region, and an inner annular projection extends from the open end of the small diameter annular mounting portion. It is characterized by having a slit extending to a position and one or more annular projections formed in the circumferential direction of the inner peripheral surface of the small-diameter annular attachment portion of the boot band fastening area.
The steering boot according to the present invention includes an outer annular projection for positioning the boot band on the outer peripheral surface of the small-diameter annular mounting portion, in addition to the boot band fastening region of the small-diameter annular mounting portion. It is preferable that the convex portion be located closer to the bellows portion of the inner peripheral surface of the small-diameter annular mounting portion than the convex portion.
In the steering boot according to the present invention, the slit provided in the small-diameter annular mounting portion has the following conditions, where L is the outer peripheral length of the opening end of the small-diameter annular mounting portion, and Gn is the sum of the outer peripheral lengths of the slits in the small-diameter annular mounting portion. It is preferable to have the relationship shown in Formula (1).
In the boot band fastening region of the steering boot according to the present invention, Sr is the distance from the center axis of the tie rod to the outer peripheral surface of the tie rod, Ir is the distance from the center axis of the tie rod to the inner annular projection, and Ir is the distance from the center axis of the tie rod. When the distance to the vertex of the annular projection is Pr, it is preferable to have the relationship shown in the following conditional expression (2).
The steering boot according to the present invention has an annular protrusion, a slit, and an annular projection at predetermined positions of a small-diameter annular mounting portion to be attached to a tie rod. It is possible to ensure the visibility of the state and the identifiability of the appearance. Further, since there is no need to use other members in combination, it is possible to reduce the cost.
A steering boot according to the present invention will be described below assuming that it is applied to a rack-and-pinion type steering apparatus for automobiles. Moreover, although one embodiment of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to the drawings, the present invention is not construed as being limited thereto.
As shown in FIG. 1 , a
Inner Annular Protrusion: Referring to FIG. 2, the inner
Further, as shown in FIG. 3, the small-diameter annular mounting
Slit: To explain with reference to FIGS. 1 to 3, the
Furthermore, as shown in FIG. 4, the
By satisfying the relationship shown in conditional expression (1), in the state shown in FIG. 5 or FIG. At the same time, it is possible to obtain the advantage that "whether or not the inner
In addition, when there are a plurality of
Annular Protrusion: Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, the
Boot Design Concept Considering Tie Rod Shape: Referring to FIG. When the distance is Sr, the distance from the central axis CL of the
By satisfying the relationship shown in conditional expression (2), it is possible to improve the sealing performance of the
Furthermore, the
Examples of the present invention are shown and described below. In addition, the present invention is not to be construed as being limited by the following examples.
The steering boot used in the first embodiment (hereinafter referred to as "first embodiment boot") has an inner annular
Specifically, the boot of Example 1 is made of an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer (TPV) such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polybutadiene (BR). Further, the minimum thickness of the small-diameter annular mounting
Further, in the
Table 1 below shows the results of this confirmation using the Example 1 boot. Also, based on the results of Table 1, FIG. 9 shows the ratio (Gn) of the maximum insertion load (N) and the total outer peripheral length (Gn) of the slit to the outer peripheral length (L) of the opening end of the small-diameter annular mounting portion ( Gn / L) × 100 (%) (hereinafter referred to as "slit width (%)"). Fig. 10 shows the relationship between the riding load (N) and the slit width (%). shows a graph of
From the results shown in Table 1, FIGS. 9 and 10, it was confirmed that the maximum insertion load decreased as the slit width (%) increased. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the decrease in the maximum insertion load gradually converges to a constant value when the slit width (%) exceeds 40%. The reason why the maximum insertion load reduction converges to a constant value is that when the boot is first inserted into the tie rod, the influence of the inner
The steering boot used in Embodiment 2 (hereinafter referred to as "
Specifically, the boot of Example 2 is made of an olefinic thermoplastic elastomer (TPV) such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polybutadiene (BR). Further, the minimum thickness of the small-diameter annular mounting
In addition, in Example 2, only the boot in which the slit width (%) formed in Example 2 boot was 0.5% of the length was prepared (see FIG. 7(1)). Then, the same confirmation as in Example 1 was performed on this Example 2 boot. Table 2 below shows the results.
From the results shown in Table 2, it was confirmed that the effect of reducing the maximum insertion load of the tie rod was more effective than that of Example 1 boot under the same slit width (%) condition. This is because the inner
[Comparative Example 1]
The steering boot used in Comparative Example 1 (hereinafter referred to as "
From the results shown in Table 3, the
[Comparative Example 2]
The steering boot used in Comparative Example 2 (hereinafter referred to as "
From the results shown in Table 4, the comparative 2 boot showed higher values for both the maximum tie rod insertion load and riding load than the practical 2 boot. It is considered that this is due to the presence or absence of the

The steering boot according to the present invention is provided with an inner annular projection at a predetermined position of a small-diameter annular mounting portion attached to a tie rod, a slit extending to the inner annular projection, and an inner annular projection, thereby improving sealing performance and mounting performance.
