Description
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device and an image forming apparatus used in an image forming apparatus such as a copier, a printer, a facsimile, and a multifunction device thereof.
As an optical scanning device used in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, an optical scanning device having the following configuration is well known. That is, the light beam emitted from the light source is deflected by the deflector, and the light beam is focused toward the scanned surface by the scanning imaging optical system to form a light spot on the scanned surface, and the light spot is used. By scanning the surface to be scanned, a latent image is formed on the surface to be scanned. A deflector (for example, a rotating polymorphic mirror) for deflecting the laser beam emitted from the semiconductor laser is provided inside the optical scanning device, and the above-mentioned laser beam is emitted by the deflector rotating at high speed. Be biased. Then, the deflected laser beam is applied onto the photoconductor. In this way, a desired electrostatic latent image is formed on the photoconductor by repeatedly emitting and extinguishing the semiconductor laser and irradiating the photoconductor with the laser beam.
In recent image forming apparatus, products capable of forming high-definition images such as 1200 dpi and 2400 dpi have become the mainstream, and products having a large number of output sheets per unit time are required. In response to such demands, the rotation speed of the deflector is increased compared to the conventional product, and the rotation speed of the rotating body such as the photoconductor, intermediate transfer body, and sheet transfer roller attached to the image forming apparatus main body is increased. There is a need to let them do it. As the rotation speed of the rotating body increases, the vibration energy applied to the optical scanning device increases as compared with the conventional product. The optical box, which is the housing of the optical scanning device, and the optical components installed inside the optical box vibrate. Due to the influence of this vibration, the optical path of the laser beam fluctuates, the scanning locus of the laser beam on the photoconductor fluctuates, and image defects occur.
On the other hand, it is known that a metal material such as aluminum is used for the optical box of the optical scanning device. By adopting an optical box made of a metal material, it is possible to reduce the occurrence of image defects due to the influence of vibration as compared with an optical scanning device provided with an optical box made of a resin material.
However, the optical box made of a metal material has a higher reflectance on the surface of the optical box than the optical box made of a resin material. Therefore, the laser beam is reflected by the surface inside the optical box to become stray light, which causes a problem that the reflected light that should not originally reach the photoconductor irradiates the surface of the photoconductor.
It is known that the stray light generated between the light source and the deflector has a high degree of influence on image defects. Since the stray light generated on the downstream side of the deflector in the traveling direction of the laser light is scanned by the deflector, the influence of the stray light is dispersed because the weak light scans a wide range. On the other hand, the stray light generated on the upstream side of the deflector in the traveling direction of the laser light reaches the surface of the photoconductor without being scanned, unlike the laser light deflected by the deflector, and reaches a narrow specific range. Since it is irradiated with a strong laser beam, the degree of influence of stray light is large. That is, since the stray light is not scanned by the deflector, the light energy that the laser beam irradiates at the same image height position is always accumulated. Therefore, the influence on the image density becomes large. In response to such a situation, in order to deal with the stray light of the incident light ray from the light source, for example, in
However, in the above-mentioned proposal of
The present invention has been made under such circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to prevent stray light in a metal optical box.

Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings. In the following description, the rotation axis direction of the
[Structure of image forming apparatus]
The configuration of the image forming apparatus of the embodiment will be described. FIG. 1 is a schematic configuration diagram showing the overall configuration of the tandem type color laser beam printer of this embodiment. This laser beam printer (hereinafter, simply referred to as a printer) has four image-forming
The

On the other hand, the recording sheet P is supplied from the
In this way, by interlocking the members constituting the printer and operating with high accuracy, a toner image corresponding to the image information is formed on the
[Configuration of optical scanning device]
FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing the configuration of the
As described above, the vibration energy generated by the
When manufacturing an optical box made of a metal material, a method of pouring a molten metal material into a mold, such as die casting, is adopted. Since the molten metal material has low fluidity, it is difficult to form complicated shapes and minute concave portions and protrusions by die casting as compared with resin molding. One of the problems of the
Normally, in an image forming apparatus such as a low / medium speed machine, the
Since the mounting seat surface on which the optical parts of the optical box molded from a metal material are installed is required to have an accuracy of several tens of μm or less in height difference, cutting is required. However, the reflectance of the laser beam is higher in the portion where such cutting is performed than in the other locations. As a result, stray light is likely to be generated on the wall surface near a place where seat surface accuracy is required, such as the seat surface on which the optical component is installed, so that an antireflection sheet is attached to prevent stray light. Since the antireflection sheet has an adhesive coated on the sticking surface, when the antireflection sheet is stuck near the installation seat surface of the optical component, the adhesive material may come into contact with the optical component and stain the optical component. Likely to happen.
[Reflectance of resin housing, metal housing, and machined surface of metal housing]
How much difference is there in the reflectance of the laser light between the resin housing molded using the above-mentioned resin material, the metal housing molded using the metal material, and the cutting part obtained by cutting the metal housing, and the amount of emitted light. Was measured using a constant red laser beam. The actual measurement was carried out in the following measurement environment. A red laser with a constant amount of emitted light is emitted from a semiconductor laser manufactured by SONY, and the laser beam made into parallel light by a collimator lens is cut by cutting the resin housing, metal housing, and metal housing that are the objects to be measured. Irradiate the part. Then, the amount of reflected light from the surface of the object to be measured was measured using an optical power meter (ADCMT8230 system (infrared light compatible type)) manufactured by ADC Co., Ltd. At that time, the measurement condition of the optical power meter sets the wavelength center value of the laser specification. Further, the distance / angle between the object to be measured and the laser and the distance / angle between the object to be measured and the optical power meter are set to be the same when measuring the resin housing and when measuring the metal housing.

Further, as shown in FIG. 4B, the incident optical

FIG. 5 is a perspective view for explaining the attachment of the incident optical
Further, the incident optical
Further, the
As described above, the location of the
Further, when the support seat surface on which the optical member of the incident portion is installed is formed in the
The incident optical
As shown in FIG. 4, the incident optical
As described above, according to the present embodiment, it is possible to prevent stray light in the metal optical box.
